LOL. Did you get out at the right stop, Roxy? Or are you somewhere in the midwest right now living in an airport... ^_^ jk
I liked the book, the book was good.
Seriously though, I will read the next one. I like Alek, the Darwinist vs. Clanker political thing, the artwork. The start was a bit slow, the middle much faster, and the end abrupt--but I understand that happens when the author already knows there will be sequels.
Weigh in, guys:
1) Did you like the book?
2) Will you read the sequel(s)?
3) Fave character(s)?
4) Fave creature(s)/clanker(s)?
5) Are you Darwinist or Clanker?

I'm reserving my further answers until other members have posted theirs.

Here's Jane's MW Word of the Day email from December 4th... maybe someone there is reading Leviathan, too.

-I thought it was pretty decent. As a history buff I would have preferred seeing more of the politics or "strategery" of the war, however we only got to see a few scenes throughout the book and no real antagonist with substance. I did like the concept though.
2) Will you read the sequel(s)?
I am interested to find out what happens next. I can guess what might happen next, though.
3) Fave character(s)?
Volger and Klopp. Both strike me as true gentlemen in a dire time.
4) Fave creature(s)/clanker(s)?
Cyklop Stormwalker. Reminescent of a Grant or Tiger tank.
5) Are you Darwinist or Clanker?
Clanker. More steam...

I was actually disappointed but more in the editors than the writer. Good editing would have tightened up the weaker parts of the story.
2) Will you read the sequel(s)?
Probably not, unless people say it is much better than the first one. Just sum it up for me.
3) Fave character(s)?
secondary characters including Nora, Volger, Klopp they were all more fun in some ways.
4) Fave creature(s)/clanker(s)?
the Whale...really fascinating
5) Are you Darwinist or Clanker?
I think I was more fascinated by the Darwinist creatures.

2. I'll at least get them from the library!
3. Don't know that I have one. They were all about the same level of 'interesting'... none really resonated with me.
4. The jellyfish-balloon. Imagine - you can fly if you just hold in your farts!! ^.^
5. Darwinist. I like personalities, and it doesn't seem to me like the Clankers would put up with them from their machines.

2) I'm very anxious to see what happens next.
3) I like Deryn's strong personality. She has charisma. Recently, I've caught myself exclaiming, 'Barking spiders!' when I'm frustrated or surprised. I like Dr. Barlow too.
4) That's a toughie... The ecosystem of symbiotic fabrications that sustains the Leviathan is really fascinating to me. But if I had to choose just one beastie, I'd go with the messenger lizards. They're kinda cute.
5) Darwinist. Definately. As I mentioned before, I find the interdependent species fascinating.
Moving on...
