Choke discussion

Isn't there a part in this book where he has an oversized anal bead stuck inside him, for one reason or another, and there is a point where everything comes to fruition and he shits it out in his pants along with a few days worth of feces? Good times.

Yes, I believe it is symbolic of all the crap that has clogged his life, such as his mother, his addiction, his job. He figuratively (and literally) blows all the shit out in one big moment. Only Chuck can pull that off.

Ciertamente, una parte importante de Asfixia es cuando toda la mierda sale.

No estoy segura pero creo que el gran tema en las novelas que he leído de Palahniuk (Nana, Diario y Asfixia) es la autoaceptación y la redención que ella conlleva.

Asfixia no es la novela que más me apasiona de las tres que he leído, pero tiene dos cosas que me gustaron mucho:

El personaje de Denny, quien parece que en su esfuerzo por mantenerse libre de vicio termina lentamente por dar con un sentido (bastante absurdo) para su vida. Y también parece que encuentra cierta paz y felicidad llevando piedras ¿Quien no carga con sus propias piedras?

Otro aspecto que me gusto mucho, más que parte preferida, es eso del sacrificio, asumir las culpas ajenas sólo para brindarle a algunos extraños un poco de paz y felicidad.

Supongo que a todos nos sobreviene una sensación de paz y felicidad cuando nos deshacemos de la mierda que llevamos dentro.
