I finished Obsidian Butterfly, and am now working on Ella Enchanted. I think I'll hit Chinese Cinderella after Ella... :)

Stayed up way too late last night...

message 8: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
LOL! I know the feeling. Some of them are hard to put down. And then you get to a point where you start thinking "Why not just finish it?" and it ends up taking longer than you think.

Tell me about it!!!

I just finished Ella Enchanted, and I think I'll be starting The Woman in White later today. :) Oh, I only have 37 more minutes left of The Titan's Curse.

I'm just starting my 3rd book and you're already on the 6th? That's not fair. [Sonja pouts:] :)

I've been staying up LATE!!!! Bad Me!

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Are you ignoring your mommy voice again? :) I do it too! I was up till 3 last night because I couldn't sleep. So, I read... that's how I finished Hotel and started another book this weekend...

message 14: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Mommy voice? What's a mommy voice? :) Is that what that noise in my head was?

message 15: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
I thought we'd had this conversation... Only last time I think it was regarding chocolate consumption...

message 16: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Yeah, I've improved on the chocolate... but reading? Really? Reading is good for me! Why would I need to listen to my mommy voice? :)

message 17: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Because sleep is good for you too? ;)

message 18: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: 3 down, 2 to go!

message 21: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Are you listening to that one too?

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Yeap! :)

message 23: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Sometimes I wish I had a longer commute so I could listen to more books. 7 minutes just isn't long enough. I listen to them when I drive to MO though...

message 24: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
It takes three to four weeks for me to listen to one audio book... and the Percy Jackson ones are not long. I'm kind of wanting to listen to The Fountainhead, but it's something like 27 or 29 CD's long... that would mean at least 4 months! That's a long time!

message 25: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
That really is a long time. But if it saves you from reading another huge book... I don't know...

message 26: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Yeah, I'll have to think about it... I just started the one book today, and there's the fifth book in the series to read after it... so that's a good two months of listening pleasure. I'll make the big decision when I have to. :)

I'm not sure this dailylit thing is a good idea... I just finished 2 installments (they were relatively short), but I have work to do! I should change my setup so that they come later in the day and I can read them at home.

message 32: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Or you could just keep them at the same time of day, and just read it if you need to relax for a minute or ten. :) That's what I do! It arrives at 8am, but I don't always read it during the work day... just sometimes. :)

message 33: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
But I want to read it when I get it... I guess I need to work on some self-control issues.

The Battle of the Labyrinth

Quite an enjoyable book - I think that this is my favorite of the Percy Jackson series so far. Given that this book (and the whole series) is written for a 4th grader, the plot is actually impressively complex. Rick Riordan does a wonderful job of teaching Greek mythology, and makes me crave more!

I'm looking forward to starting book 5 tomorrow! :)

At home with a sick William... I read Message in a Bottle during his nap. I do like that Nicholas Sparks doesn't feel the need to give a fairytale ending, but part of me wishes that it could have been a happy ending!

Sonja wrote: "I was talking to my Dad. Probably once a week or so I call him on my way to work. It's the only time I get to talk to him because if I call in the evenings, he passes the phone to Mom right away...."
Niiice!

Did you see any of the accident on 965 last night? They had 965 blocked from Oakdale to Forevergreen...

message 42: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
I was at the office and heard/saw that 965 was blocked off. I heard the ambulance, but by the time I left the office at 6:30, it was all cleaned up. I didn't even see any cars at the side of the road.

Just finished Under the Lilacs, and am going to start Villette tomorrow! :) YAY!

message 44: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Yay! I got really behind on Les Miz and have 6 parts stockpiled in my inbox. I read 2 today, so it's down from 8 this morning...

message 45: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
I had that happen with The Three Musketeers... at point I had at least 10 parts stockpiled! If you read just two a day, you'll get caught up quickly. I actually realized how close I was, and read four installments of Under the Lilacs today.

Getting behind is okay, just don't quit! :)

message 46: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

I'm not... I really like it!

It's a neat story so far - but I'm still 3 emails behind!

Wow... I was on a roll until now... stuck at 20 books. I had hoped to finish Dragonfly in Amber this week, but with everything else going on, I literally haven't read at all... and the only reason that The Last Song got finished is because it's an audio book! :)
