D. (dselliott) You're doing two challenges?? I'm so impressed. What do you think of the Sookie books?

And have you read any of the classics before? Or all they all new? I LOVE Gatsby. My juniors are reading it right now and it's one of my all time favorites.

Sherry Well, I'm not approaching the challenges with as much commitment as you Shelbi! I know full well I'll never get through the 'Around the World in 80 Books' challenge in one year and then I'll just hop about as the reading takes me.

I had read Great Gatsby in my 20's and so I'm interested to see what my adult self takes away from the experience. But the rest are all virgin territority!

Love the new avi pic. You guys make such a lovely family.

Sherry Oh, I forgot to say that I love the Sookie books. They're the perfect fluff stuff for me.The books are quite a bit different from the series which I love as well, though I must confess I am growing a little weary of the 'Sookie in the middle of a Supe war' formula that all the last few books have been about. I'd like them a lot better if she'd just stay focused on the vamps and weres.

How about you?

D. (dselliott) "Commitment" is a nice way of putting it. I feel "obsessive" is probably more likely. I tend to throw myself into things with that type of annoying fervor that makes people want to strangle me.

Thanks for the compliment about the pic! Our boy just turned a year -- he was 8 months in the picture -- so he's changed so much already.

And I have some friends who really disliked the Sookie books...but I really love the True Blood series. And it's okay that they're different -- it wouldn't be nearly as much fun to read if they were exactly the same. I think I'll pick up the first one sometime (not this year...) and check it out.

Sherry They do change so quickly don't they! How did he enjoy his first Christmas?

The reason I like to stay loosey-Goosey for my challenges is so that i can be more open to reading what I like. If I was too focused on the goal I'd be always thinking about the books i wasn't able to read because they didn't fit the challenge. I'm very much a 'grass is always greened on the other side' kind of girl. Unfortunately I'm also a 'never get things accomplished' kind of girl as well which is why i always admire those, such as yourself, who do.

D. (dselliott) He had a great Christmas! It was fun to watch him discover the tree -- he actually was around for the Christmas in 2008...but he was only a week old, so it hardly counted for much. He was an early arrival, and I didn't get out of the hospital until Christmas Eve -- so we didn't have gifts for anyone either. This time was much better. :-)
