Christina Dudley (christina_dudley) Hi--just started re-reading MS and can't remember the title of the book where the heroine communicates telepathically with the fellow. Help, please?

Misfit | 587 comments High Christina. I'm fairly certain you are thinking of Touch not the Cat. Unless she wrote two of them :)

Thanks so much! I re-read THE IVY TREE, thinking that was it, but it wasn't such a poor use of time...

Hey Christina! Have you read all of Mary Stewart's books and are going for a re-read now? I was on a kick a few months back, and just picked up The Moonspinners in the last week for a long over due re-read of that one.

Ooh! I actually don't think I've ever read that one. Nor have I read her Arthurian ones. do you recommend?

Misfit | 587 comments I loved Moonspinners, but just don't go and watch the Disney movie with Hayley Mills afterwards. You will hate it, trust me. Wildfire at Midnight is lots of fun as well, as is Gabriel Hounds. Must get back into more of Dame Stewart's books soon. I got side tracked again.

Yes, do pick up The Moonspinners - it's really good.

I happen to love Stewart's Merlin Trilogy, but others don't much care for it (not sure why). If you like Authurian stories, then Stewart provides a great story told from Merlin's perspective, and her writing is top notch, as always.

Welcome to the board and I look forward to hearing your opinions!

Misfit | 587 comments I liked the Merlin books as well and reread them a couple of years ago. *grumble* Although it was released in new editions the typos we not corrected, and there were many of them.

Christina Dudley (christina_dudley) Ooh, was just burning through more time reading some of the back posts from this group--so many authors I need to try, since I'd only also read some DuMaurier and Victoria Holt.

It's funny because I was recommending MS to a friend, and that got me to thinking I'd like to re-read, so I rushed to the library and checked out scores, so that, when she got to the library two days later, I think I only left her Arthur. Some friend.

Carol Kerry-Green | 24 comments I think the Arthurian novels of Mary Stewart are some of the best books written on that subject. I especially liked the fact that they tell the story from Merlin's point of view and you get his childhood and young adulthood as well as the story of Arthur. Hope you do like them Christina.

One of my favourites of her others, which I don't think any one else has mentioned, is Airs Above the Ground, a mystery romance one set early 50s I would guess - though it's been a while since I read it.

Just reread Touch not The Cat last autumn, the one with the telepathy in it, and still enjoy that one.

As someone else said, enoy Moonspinners, but don't whatever you do be tempted to watch the film - a) it wasn't very good, and b) bore no resemblance to the book at all.

Hope you enjoy the books.

I'm with you. I absolutely love her merlin trilogy. it's what got me interested in the Arthurian legend to start out with. I've read a lot of books by a lot of authors on this subject and I still like Mary Stewart's the best. (Although Stephen Lawhead's are right up there with her.)
