Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments 2011
Beginning today, my goals being both personal and academic, are as follows:

Complete 1 poem per week
Write a minimum of 7 pages toward a novel per week
Update my website monthly
Create one short story per month

This is the first time I have realistically set goals so wish me luck!

2012
Poetry submissions - published poems
Website/blog - continuous (start it up again, first)
Increase my 1 hour writing per day to 2 hours

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments Hi there, Lisa! Your goals sound very interesting, especially the 1 poem per week! Will you post a link to your website here?

message 4: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Thanks Annie and Teresa - I appreciate the support!
Yes, Teresa, as soon as I get it finished this month, I will post my link. Thanks for asking!

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Ok, it hasn't been a week yet, but I've finished one new poem and began a rewrite of a poem that I finished last week. So far nothing new on the novel or website, but did get a few good ideas toward a short story to be written... Things would be a lot easier if the world wasn't so darn demanding!

Anne (mekone) | 142 comments Well done, Lisa! Will your poetry appear on the website too?

message 7: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Yes, as soon as I get it critiqued and do the rewrite. Then I will get my website updated and SHARE :) More soon to come...

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments 7 pages completed of a new novel - rewrite of 9 pages of another novel I started writing 24 years ago (hoping there's something worth salvaging) - I finished the one poem but waiting for the critiques from class to consider it ready to publish (get critiques next Wednesday) - maybe work on the website this weekend...?

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Put start-up novel aside; decided to work on old novel. Have first chapter revised. It will go to novel workshop for critique one week from Friday. Wrote my poem for the week, but not happy with it. Haven't reworked any of my critiqued poems yet. Got a little work done on web site. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll have something to share with everyone. Thanks for the encouragement... I have this Friday and Monday off from school - that should help!

Malin (tusenord) What's the novel workshop?

message 11: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Hi everyone - I've been away - had a tragedy in my family and haven't been writing, only for school. Things are going better and I have picked up my novel again. I hope to be moving that along during the semester break Dec 12-Jan 10.

@ Malin - I had a novel writing class where we workshopped our novels and over the summer 4 of us continued to workshop together until the Fall semester started again.

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Back in school - 4th semester - lots of english and another poetry writing workshop. One a week. I will start posting poetry here, once I get the first one finished. Glad to be back at it.

I've determined the era(s) for my sci fan novel and now can get my history taken care of. Research can be so time consuming!!! I found a great website with a timeline that goes back 2,000 years. was really helpful in setting the environment for my novel.

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments I guess I better set my 2011 goal now:

1 poem per week (require for school)
5 pages of novel per week (rough, rewrites don't count)

Try to update website before end of Feb. - then monthly thereafter

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Oh no! It's been a year! I am trying to get back on track - AGAIN! School has made it difficult to write for pleasure - but I've been doing a minimum of 1 hour pleasure writing every day for a month now. Right now I'm in a short-course finals week, so no real writing until next wee :( Plan on restarting my blog and website for real this season. I hope everyone else is doing well!

Oh - we've had some terrific authors speak at our City College in the past year, Aimee Bender, Heidi Durrow, among others. They've really been an inspiration to get things moving.

Lisa (zenrhino) | 17 comments Submitted poems to Suisun Valley Review for Spring publication on 3/31. First time I've actually submitted poetry for print. Working on Bank-Heavy Press poetry submission this week.

NEW SPRING GOAL: to submit something for publication twice a month (to be increased by summer break).
