Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments I'm currently reading The Third Victim by Lisa Gardner. I usually don't read books about children being killed, but I need this one for a challenge, and it has been a real pager turner from the beginning. I'm actually almost done, it's excellent!!

Ramona (roy99) | 11 comments The Third Victim is a good book. I enjoy Lisa Gardner's books. Have you read the others in this series?

No, I haven't. I definitely intend to do so. I was kind of reluctant due to the subject matter, but once I started, I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to the others. I haven't read a Garwood book in a while.

Excellent book, I read hers also. if you liked that one read Say Goodbye it is great. I just finished Knock Out by Catherine Coulter, it was good I love the FBI series

message 13: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments Yes, I really love Coulter's FBI series, one of these days I plan to re-read them. I'm slowing building my collection of hers also. I'm also a big fan of Kay Hooper's FBI series.

message 14: by Gina (new)

Gina Berry | 11 comments I have read all of Kay Hooper books, have you read the sisterhood series by Fern Michaels, they are definitely worth the read. My biggest problem is I read so fast that I am constantly looking for new authors,

message 15: by Ramona (new)

Ramona (roy99) | 11 comments Gina, if you haven't read them yet, Robert Dugoni has a good series beginning with The Jury Master, then Wrongful Death: A Novel and I just finished the latest one, Bodily Harm: A Novel. Dugoni is easy on the eyes as well. :D

message 16: by David (new)

David Peters I listen to Lisa Gardner's Say Goodbye on tape because my old college roommate is the reader. Always fun hearing your roommate talk about being a psychopath who enjoys killing people violently.

Currently I am reading Henning Mankell's latest The Man from Bejing and Ian Sansom's The Case of the Missing Books. Plus I am reading a lot of young adult literature from the banned & protested list as my personal stand against censorship.

Yes I have heard he was good he was just at a book signing at our library in The Woodlands, but I had to work so I missed it. I have a friend who beta reads his books. I will have to give him a try. Thanks

Hey David,

I'll look for that audiobook; I don't think I've read that one yet.

Gina,

I've heard of Fern Michaels, but I don't think I've ever read one of her books. Now my TBR list is going to get bigger. I wonder if there's a limit because I'm approaching 2000. Probably not, as long as their server can handle it.

message 20: by David (new)

David Peters My roommates biggest book he has done the voice work for has to be the Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson, fwiw.

message 21: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments Thanks David, although I don't think I would able to handle the audio on that one. I actually couldn't get through the book due to the accident parts. But I will check out the other one.

message 22: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments I just finished Infamous by Susan Brockman, that is a really good story line, but don't listen to the audio. There are two readers but neither one of them can manage to change their voices so you can identify two different males/females. I listen to audios when I am cleaning or doing something mundane, so my concentration is not always on the book. When S.E reads I can identify Peabody from Eve or Mavis and I don't have to follow that closely.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments Currently I am reading Silver Master by Jayne Castle (Jayne Ann Krentz) `Dark Curse by Christine Feehan, and His Boots Under Her Bed by Ana Leigh

I quit reading the stephanie plum books because I am not seeing much growth in Stephanie. She is still pulling the same stunts when she was a new bounty hunter.

After book 4, which ended SO GREAT, I asked my friend if she and Morelli get married or what, and she was like, "Ummmmmm.... no.... Actually the author introduces a love triangle." And I was like, "Ummmm... Okay, then! Book 4 is OFFICIALLY the end in my mind, because it's just not getting any better than that!" SEVENTEEN books, and she hasn't chosen between guys? RIDICULOUS.

That's one thing I LOVE about the In Death series! Usually the couple gets married, THE END. But in this series, you get to see their marriage, how they work together, how they work their issues out, etc. And J.D. Robb proves that a couple in a book can be married, but things can still be romantically interesting, you know? The main girl doesn't have to sleep with a new guy every book for the romance (or sex) to be great!

message 26: by Dee (last edited Jul 17, 2011 09:38PM) (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments I so agree with you Sara. You were smart and only read up to four on the Stephanie Plum books. I read all the way to 10 and one minute she is with Morelli and the next she was with Ranger. I had read that Janet Evanovitch doesn't want her to get married.
Not only that, she pulls the same stunts. Someone is trying to kill her and both Ranger and Morelli are using their skill and a lot of manpower to protect her and she, in all her brillance, eludes the backup. That is so stupid!
I love the in death series because Eve is smart. I can understand show she could try to set herself up as the target, but she would do it intelligently.

message 27: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments Currently, I am reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This book has been made into a movie and should be out in a few weeks. The book is about black maids in the south in the 1960s.

Book #2 in the Outlander series. I am actually "reading" these books and not listening to them; although when I finish the series I've every intention to listen to them on a re-read!

Karon, how do you like these books? I have the first one but every time I look at it I get freaked because it's so long. But I guess that's a good thing if it's a really good story.

The first few chapters are kind of rough and boring Vanessa. Once you get past that it gets really good and it's really hard to put it down. I am so thankful that the books are huge! So much happens in them....they are big candidates for a re-read because I know I've missed important things. BTW, the things in those first few chapters are extremely relevant whether you think so at the time you read them or not. I had to go back and re-read them to make it all come full-circle for me after I finished book #1.

It was okay. Maybe too much fire fighting instead of romance.
