Kasia It's going to be February in 45 min for me ;)

PS. I'm finishing up on Princess Academy, not bad at all for a ya book, but very much like everything else by Shannon Hale. The woman keeps writing the same book over and over. Sigh.

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments It's 11am Feb 1st here for me and I'm one book down. I always start out strong and then drag my feet o_O

Finished Undressed by Heather Macallister - a collection of short stories revolving around a wedding dress shop. All by Macallister. Not too bad! Definite good start to the month.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I need to read 17 books if I am to finish all my Feb challenges. So what do I do? Start a book I found at the library that isn't on any challenge list. lol

Larry's Kidney (Being the Story of) How I Found Myself in China with My Black Sheep Cousin and His Mail-Order Bride, Breaking Chinese Law to Get Him a Transplant--and Save His Life by Daniel Asa Rose Larry's Kidney: (Being the Story of) How I Found Myself in China with My Black Sheep Cousin and His Mail-Order Bride, Breaking Chinese Law to Get Him a Transplant--and Save His Life by Daniel Asa Rose.

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Hah I know exactly what you mean. Each month I start out strong with the challenges and then get distracted by pretty covers or interesting stories that aren't on my list o_O

Unapologetic_Bookaholic | 2002 comments I am going to try and organize my Feb reads tonight. I did well for my 144 in a year reading I think. Some challenges worked out better than others.

First for the month? Continue:

Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) by Larissa Ione

Amanda, that looks really interesting, but it seems to have some greatly mixed reviews. Can you share your thoughts once you've finished reading? :O)

message 10: by Melody (new)

Melody (melos) Started Obsidian Prey this morning, even though I have several other titles in progress. Can't regret it though, gotta love this series (and it's due back to the library today). ;o)

message 11: by Chrizette (new)

Chrizette I finished "Devil in a Kilt" last night (LOVED it!) but now I can't decide what to read next . . .

message 12: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) on the "reading books not on my challenge list" thing. I handle this the easy way--I don't post a list, and as I read I figure out where the book I'm reading can fit into the list(s). (ok, ok, I'm a total challenge junkie, I admit it. Hubby says I need to join a 12 step program to get over my addiction. heeheehee)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I do make up a list ahead of time, but end up reading only about half of it. lol I constantly make changes along the way. I should do my list in pencil. lol I did figure out that I can work this in if I bump something else off. Which is good since I'm about halfway through it already.

message 14: by Melody (new)

Melody (melos) Finished Obsidian Prey earlier and returned it to find Rapunzel's Revenge awaiting me. And, of course, it looked so cute, I had to read it immediately. :O)

I'll be starting Karma Girl next as it's due tomorrow.

message 15: by ~Sara~ (last edited Feb 01, 2010 07:32PM) (new)

~Sara~ | 667 comments I just read Lord of Scoundrels and want to thank everyone who recommended it! It was fantastic!!! I'm reading Duty and Desire, the 2nd book in the Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman Series, but it's slow going so I'm reading it between others. I can't wait to get to the 3rd which I've read is much better! I'm not sure what I'll read next - I'll have to go to my challenge page and see what catches my eye.

message 16: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments I've been trying to read Falling Awake by Jayne Ann Krentz for two days now and have only managed half a page. My in-laws are visiting including my sister-in-law and 17 month old nephew ... who is full of beans, into everything and absolutely adorable :)

message 21: by Valorie (new)

Valorie | 2218 comments Well I just finished The Silver Wolf, sloooooow is all I can say. I think it was the slowest moving book I've ever read. Pretty shocking since she is Anne Rice's sister. Not sure if I'll read the next book in the series. I'm going to be starting on Eve of Chaos (Marked, Book 3) by S.J. Day next. I've really enjoyed that series. I need a good pick me up after The Silver Wolf!

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments I am currently reading Soulless by Gail Carriger and I don't want it to end. That means that I am dragging it out. This is day 3 and I still haven't finished. Ordinarily I can work my through a book in one sitting (two or three concentrated hours with no distractions or visitors) but this one I am REALLY enjoying. It's an historical paranormal romance with a slight twist - it's more steampunk romance, I guess. The heroine is quirky and independent and the hero makes me want my own werewolf (without all the fur, thanks, one of us going postal once a month is enough, methinks). So, thanks Ms. Carriger for putting me two days behind on my challenge and, most definitely, thanks for a book I haven't enjoyed so much in paranormal in a while :)

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Started Heart-Shaped Box this morning after finishing The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. Will probably also start the second Sleeping Beauty today as well.

message 25: by Dalene (new)

Dalene | 82 comments Finishing up Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn. I'm not sure what's next on my list.

I have Soulless and have been thinking about that next. After Tosca's post, I just may have to choose that one. We'll see.

message 26: by AmandaG (new)

AmandaG (amandag3) | 254 comments Just finished a re-read (or listen) of Kiss of the Highlander and now moving on to audiobook of No Safe Place by Jo Ann Ross, who is a new-to-me author. Re-reading Covet by JR Ward on eBook Reader though I just got Soulless for Reader from library and after the talk of it on this board, may just have to get started on that one. Reading Interred with Their Bones in HB.

message 27: by Melody (new)

Melody (melos) Started Shadowed Summer last night and gave up after 30 pages. A bit too young for me. (And now I have to rework a number of challenges.)

Read Saving Midnight last night. Conclusion of a good trilogy (related to the Midnight series). The first book was definitely the best of the three, but all were well worth the read. :O)

Next, either Revenge of the Spellmans or Lord of Scoundrels.

You liked Claiming of Sleeping Beauty enough to start the 2nd?

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Kelly wrote: "You liked Claiming of Sleeping Beauty enough to start the 2nd? ."

Apparently. I got the trilogy as a Christmas gift and will end up reading them no matter if I hated them completely.

message 32: by Jaycee (new)

Jaycee (goodreadscomnyx) | 9 comments So far this month I've read the first three books in Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld Series. Although after reading the first book I thought to myself .... "self I'm not going to read any more of this series." However self was unable to own up to an OCD occurance--when begining a new series ....hmmmmm. Oddly enough I do believe the series is getting better with each book? or is that just some hopeful wishing??????

message 37: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Finished All Blacks' Kitchen Gardens by NZ author Tim Jones. I have a personal challenge this year to read 1 NZ book a month and this was Feb's book. I enjoyed it :)

Started Nightlight: A Parody of Twilight by Harvard Lampoon and At Last Comes Love by Mary Balogh. Enjoying both so far.

message 39: by Mel W (last edited Feb 06, 2010 12:33AM) (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments FINALLY managed to finish Falling Awake after getting back from a Nickelback concert last night. A solid 3½-4 star read - longest I've taken to read a book though! My nephew has gone now so my reading time should go back to normal. I started Linda Howard's Son of the Morning this morning.

Kristen "Kirby" | 19 comments Just finished [Book: Other Boleyn Girl] by Phillipa Gregory. Wasn't the best, but the plot was interesting.

Reading [Book: Fallen] by Lauren Kate. So far, yuuck. Totally cheesy and obviously overhyped. Hope it gets better.

I read the first two when I was 19 or 20 and ran out of Anne Rice books to read. I couldn't do the 3rd. I figured it was probably just a couple hundred more pages of spanking :)

I just started Strange Brew and am really enjoying it. My entire paranormal experience so far has been the previously mentioned Anne Rice books. This book is a teaser for the books I'm starting soon for the serial readers challenge: Twilight and Dark Lover.

I'm also struggling to finish These Three Remain. The trilogy started of strong, but it's not really keeping my interest any more. I'm slowly finishing it amongst other reads.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Well, I'm working on the third Beauty book now. I'm sure Sara is correct and it will be a couple hundred pages of spanking, anatomically impossible actions, and various other depravities. However, they are a quick read and I'm honestly interested in what will happen to Beauty at this point.

I'm reading Lead Me On with my wife. So far we think Jane is a pretty cool character. Also I've decided to read Chase with a bit of a cowboy drawl. It is Colorado after all.

Finally, I'm reading Lover Eternal. I figure I can get a a bit further in the series in Feb as I can use them for a couple of the challenge categories. Very enjoyable.
