Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments Ben never fails to mysify and/or piss me off. He's the character I want to know the most about because he seems like he has all the answers.

message 2: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Too true Emma.I think he's my favorite character to hate.He does seem to have the answers although he doesn't seem to be in the loop with jacob and john.

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments I really like Ben. Honestly I don't know why. I just do. He's so screwed up because of his father. And my curse is that I love the manipulative people on the show. I think John doesn't understand why Ben is so crushed because he thinks he knows squat. (squat is one of my favorite words, as you can tell.)

I have a love/hate relationship with Ben. I really felt so utterly sorry for the poor bastard in last weeks episode. He was like a lost little boy, following Locke around, hoping that Locke would impart some of his wisdom.

When Hurley asked Locke how much farther, Locke told him to ask Ben, and Ben said he was following them... Priceless.

The scene where Hurley shared his candy bar with a defeated Ben .. Priceless. (btw, has anyone managed to find a pic of that shot? I would love to get my hands on one...)

There are some eps where I truely hated that man, but these past few episodes he seems humbled (tho, from gauging his flashfoward, he found his power and strength again)....

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments Even in the episodes where he is maniupulative and evil, there was something about him I liked, honestly I will never understand it, maybe I felt as if I knew why he was doing it but I will never get why I like him.

Lori You're all sick individuals. :P The guy loses control for a bit and you're all feeling sorry for him? In the same episode that we see all the dead he killed in the pit? And he's still got his snarky smirk when he manipulates Sayid to be his personal assassin. His stubborn refusal to back down is what got his daughter killed. Yep, you are all sick!

Lost has some incredible writing tho I agree, because even I fell a bit for his hand dog expression.

i think it helps the Emmerson is a great actor. I cant picture anyone playing that part quite as well. Hes just the right amount of creepy, and pathetic to boot. But also very intelligent and manipulative. I love it, You never never know what he is being truthful about and when he is lying....

message 8: by Lori (new)

Lori If Emerson doesn't win an Emmy, I'll be pissed! He's brilliant.

That scene with Ben and Hurley with the candy bar was classic Lost, SO much going on there, I loved it!

message 9: by Connie (new)

Connie | 20 comments Hi, I'm new here. For the record I LOVE Ben. Now that doesn't mean I think he is good (the jury's still out on that one for me), but I love his character and love the actor who plays him.

I'd like to see that candy bar shot again, too. I still don't think it looked like and Apollo bar (Sessy), it looked more like a Snickers---in a brown wrapper. The Apollo bars were purple-wrapped I think. I'm probably just getting caught up in insignificant details though.

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments Lori,

Do you realy think Keamy would've let Alex go if Ben came out? Like, come on, he was suppose to kill everyone once he got Ben anyways. Yes, I will be majorly pissed as well if Emerson doesn't win. He's just... you can't even describe his brillance.

message 11: by Lori (new)

Lori You've just made me realize he has eveolved a bit! *gasp* He tried to kill Locke because of his jealousy, now he sullenly accepts Locke is The Chosen One.

Lori (tnbbc) | 880 comments Mod
Hmmm..But didnt he also admit he shot Locke 'assuming' he wouldnt die. It was almost like he was testing the island... Me or Him... and the island chose Locke.... Ben is in no way shape or form defeated or down-n-out! We can tell from the flashfowards that what he is going thru now is just a momentary weak spot. He gathers himself and gets it together in the future. Or.... is it all just a show to get Locke to loosen his guard and then Ben backstabs him to get back on top???

Whichever way he goes, I still cant help feeling sorry for the poor guy in times like these.. I always end up regretting it, but i still cant help it! Haa haa

Watch out, Sessy, he may turn those huge Lemur eyes in your direction. Give Juilet the boot and start to seduce you by cooking you dinner and announcing over the main course that "Your HIS!!"

message 14: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments rofl. The "your his" especially turns on a woman doesn't it?

message 15: by Emma (last edited May 15, 2008 06:00PM) (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments whahaha. Oh ya, AND imprisions you for life. HUGE turn on, right girls?

message 16: by Lori (new)

Lori OK after tonight I'd have to agree that he hasn't accepted John being the chosen one. He was quite snappy in taking control again at The Orchid.

message 17: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 149 comments I love love love that he just walked right into the trap. That's just so typical Ben, and you know he's going to walk out of it just fine, because he's Ben. He wasn't lying when he said that he always had a plan- and if that means sacrificing Locke then it's all the better.

I have a feeling that whatever Locke is doing down in the Orchid Station is pretty secondary to whatever it is that Ben is up to, and I love it.

message 18: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments lol, I know, I love Ben man!! It is so typical Ben, and I love that feeling that you know that he'll come out fine, because he's master manipulator, the question is always, how will he get out? It's pretty obvious whatever Ben is doing it's not just simply a "distraction" it has more signifiance than whatever the hell Locke will end up doing.

message 19: by Sherry (new)

Sherry I agree Emma(though not about loving Ben,I genuinely do not understand anybody loving so self serving and manipulative a character but I appear to be in the minoriy on that one!)I think it was obvious that he is playing a deeper game than Locke is aware, and going to the Orchid station gave him an advantage, though no idea as of yet what it may be. 2 weeks!Way too long!

So see, here goes Ben doing what he does best. Letting Locke think he has the upper hand, then shooting him down with his whole "you dont know what the fuck you are talking about and leave the difficult shit to me, and stop asking questions"..... Haa haa... He took the reigns again... I love it. And Locke, poor guy, i love him, but he just keeps bending over and taking it like a trooper!!

Yee Hee...... Otis gave us the ability to post pics.... Ohhh yeah.. I love it!

message 23: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Yes Ben was in his element last night and Locke looked well...lost.But hopoefully he'll turn it around or else what's the point?

message 24: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments Ben just has the upper hand now, Locke is still the chosen one.

message 25: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) | 149 comments That's the thing- Ben will always have the upper hand. He's just smarter and better able to manipulate events so that they fall in his favor. John has too much blind trust to ever truly gain the upper hand against Ben.

message 26: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 332 comments True true, but no matter what Ben does, the island has still chosen Locke. God I love Ben and his manipulative tricks! (My curse, my curse).
