I "heart" Morelli discussion

Crime is slow in Trenton and no one is sure why and when Stephanie is sent to find the Burgs local candy store owner, Moses Bedenier, who skipped bail on a measly carrying concealed charge. What she did not expect is everyone hating her for doing so. But to make matters worse vigilantes are killing drug dealers and she keeps finding then all over Trenton. No one wants her on this case including Stephanie but when the vigilantes threaten to kill Rex; Stephanie decides no more Ms. Nice Girl and is more determined than ever to find out what is really going on with Uncle Mo.

Girlfriend conversation: I didn't bother with the formality of knocking on her door. I just barged in and stood there stomping my feet and flapping my arms in her living room, and saying, "D-d-damn its c-c-cold!"
Mary Lou was on her hands and knees picking up little plastic cars and men the looked like fireplugs. "Maybe it would help if you tried wearing a coat."
"I was at my parents' house and Morelli showed up, and I had to sneak out the back door."
"I don’t buy into that one," Mary Lou said. "If you were with Morelli just now you would be missing a lot more clothes than just your coat."

Favorite scene: When Lulu and Stephanie are chasing after Uncle Mo and a body bounces off his car. And Stephanie and Lulu put it in Lulu's trunk and tie a scarf around the leg so they don’t get a ticket. This scene still has me rolling in the aisle.

When Maxine Norwick skips bail Stephanie is sent to find her and runs into her Maxine's ex-boyfriend, Eddie Kuntz, who wants Stephanie to find Maxine to retrieve old love letters. Eddie does not seem the type to write love letters but Stephanie's only interest is finding Maxine. Soon Maxine is leaving coded messages for Eddie and he is asking Stephanie for help decoding them. Soon someone is firebombing Stephanie's car and apartment (thank goodness her neighbors save Rex). She decided to stay with Morelli and then things really start to get hot. Every time Stephanie gets close to the truth Joyce Barnhard, Stephanie's archenemy, gets in the way and mucks everything up. But as Stephanie gets closer to the truth the more danger she is in.

Best Conversation: "Sally's a drag queen," I explained to Grandma.

"No kidding," Grandma said. "I always wanted to meet a drag queen. I always wanted to know what you do with your dingdong when you wear girl's clothes."

"You’re supposed to wear special underpants that tuck you under."

We all looked down at the crotch-level bulge in the front of Sally's dress.

"So sue me," Sally said. "They give me a rash."

Favorite scene: Surprise surprise. When Moelli and Stephanie finally get BUSY!!!

Connie Rosolli - Vinnie's office manager and junk yard dog.

Lula - Former hooker turned file clerk. Budding assistant bounty hunter. Notable quote: "Hell. I can delicate your ass off."

Carl Costanza - A good friend of Stephanie's, now a Trenton police officer. They took communion together.

Helen Plum - Stephanie's mother. Mistress of spice cake. Notable quote: "Your cousin Maureen just got a job at the button factory. They're probably still hiring."

Grandma Mazur - Stephanie's always funny, often scary grandmother. Notable quote: "Its always nice to have a stud muffin at the table."

Joe Morelli - Lean-hipped, hard muscled Plainclothes cop. He and Stephanie have a bit of a history.

Frank Plum - Stephanie's father. American car fanatic.

Joyce Barnhardt - Stephanie's arch enemy. She has recently contracted a drug-resistant yeast infection.

Eddie Gazarra - Stephanie's second best friend through school, now married to Stephanie's cousin Shirley the Whiner.

Maxine Nowicki - Stephanie's latest FTA. She was charged with stealing her boyfriend's car, but there's more to that story.

Eddie Kuntz - Maxine Nowicki's (ex)boyfriend. Steroid-pumped knucklehead who thinks he has a way with women. He claims that he wants Stephanie to track down some "love letters" that he wrote for Maxine.

Mrs. Nowicki - Maxine's mom. She's a hard-drinking, heavy smoking lady with a bad "haircut".

Joe Morelli - Once a lecherous little kid, then a dangerous teen. Now he's a vice cop who looks like he knows a lot about it firsthand. He's a Buddy Holly fan. Notable quote: "You're going to find this hard to believe, but cops aren't required to carry emergency condoms."

Rex - Stephanie's hamster. He likes grapes, his soup can, and long runs on his wheel.

Mrs. Plum - Stephanie's mom. She's the stereotypical burg housewife. She can't figure out where she went wrong with Stephanie.

Grandma Mazur - Stephanie's grandma. She's an old babe who packs a .45 and still knows how to have a good time. Notable quote: "I met a real looker. He picked me up at the two dollar slot machines, so you know he's no cheapskate."

Gregory Stern - AKA "Sugar". Sugar is the "band tart" for the Lovelies, and Sally Sweet's roommate.

Ranger - Grade A bounty hunter. He is a Cuban-American, former special forces with a body like Schwartzenegger and a 200 watt smile. Notable quote: "This isn't just a job. This is a service profession. We uphold the law, babe."

Terry Gilman - Former prom queen and professional cheerleader. Now she works for Vito Grizolli in an undetermined, highly paid capacity.

Carl Costanza - Friend of Stephanie since grade school. He was the kid with a bad haircut and a wise mouth. Now he's a decent person and a pretty good cop.

Leo and Betty Glick - Eddie Kuntz's aunt and uncle. They rent Eddie the other half of their building.

Dillon Ruddick- Stephanie's building super. He'll fix anything for a smile and a beer.
Valerie- Stephanie's perfect sister. She is married, has two kids, and knows how to cook a chicken.

Mary Lou - Stephanie's best friend since birth.
Angie Morelli - Joe Morelli's mother. She is a feared and revered figure in the burg. A housewife of epic proportions.

Grandma Bella - Joe Morelli's grandmother. She has the ability to "put the eye" on people, with horrifying effects. She also has visions.

Aunt Mary Elizabeth - Grandma Bella's younger sister. She is a retired nun who drinks highballs and smokes cigarettes.

I love how in this book she is always being shot at. And finally this book is letting me get more personal with Ranger.

I started this one last night. I am jealous, my cover only has the title on it! Can't wait to know more about Ranger.

OK I love how Lula keeps thinking Ranger is a superhero and he is like Batman. Hilarious. And I love how the sex with Morelli didn't go down again! Funny Stuff! On to book number 4!

#4 is hot hot hot

ITA, Four To Score has the hottest scene in the entire series, hands down. From the bathroom, to the bedroom, "uh, uh, uh....not yet!" :) You'll see!

I am about to start this book today, can't wait!

I think this one was my favorite so far! I was bummed at the end when Morelli lets her drive his Ducoti, and thats it...? You know it didn't go well with her driving a motorcycle. I liked Sally alot. I hope he comes up in later books. I have Five at home and plan to start it after I've finished my current read.

OK so I finished the book last night. It was a fun book... but I must admit I felt bad for Joyce. I mean she kept getting zapped and didn't know what was happening to her! And technically at the end they did steal her fugitive. Still Ranger was barley in this book. I want more Ranger! But I am also glad Stephanie and Morelli finally get together.

this is my favorite sooo far....and i've read all but 14....sally totally reminds me of myself...by that i mean i have a MAJOR problem cussing i can barely get through a sentence without dropping an F bomb or something along those lines....i've read this one like 3 times! i love it!

Mahlet now I have to read four to score. As soon as I finish this series I borrowed from my friend I am going to pick it up from the library
