Big Machine sounded like a book I would love, but it fell short of expectations. Year of the Flood is a follow up to Oryx and Crake. The later is a fantastic work of speculative fiction that Flood doesn't quite live up to. Despite its flaws, I like Year of the Flood for the win.
I didn't care for Oryx and Crake even though I'm a big Atwood fan, so I'm going with Big Machine.
Big Machine was a great book, but I think Year of the Flood will win.
