Usako (bbmeltdown) | 226 comments I am constantly amazed by how much I have learned from this group alone about Austen :)

I agree with Tanja about how much one learns just by reading the posts here. So many interesting points of view, ideas and information. I am sure Barnes & Noble is also happy because of all the sequels I keep buying after reading about them here.........

I really enjoy the varying points of view on the threads, combined with the fact that we all love Jane's books. I am always very pleased when someone points out something I didn't "see" even after multiple readings. :)

Margaret Metz | 112 comments I also love having others to discuss and learn from. It helps enrich the experience. :o)

I definitely agree!

Captain Sir Roddy, R.N. (Ret.) (captain_sir_roddy) ...And I just scrolled through the listing of all 1,004 group members, and it looks like there are only about 30 males! That is 2.9% of the entire group! I was absolutely gobsmacked! I figured that it'd be 10% or a bit greater. What the hell can my male reader counterparts be thinking? Okay, granted I do not read any of the Austen 'continuations,' but I am a dyed-in-the-wool and inveterate reader of Austen's novels, and believe them to be some of the finest works of fiction in the English language.

Well, all I can say is that I find myself in exceptionally fine company. Here's to all of you Ladies -- You have exquisite tastes! Cheers! Chris

We are glad to have you and the other men in this group, Chris. I also wish more men in general would take a look at Jane Austen. My husband is about to for the first time -- he's starting with Emma. Probably some men have the wrong notion of what her writing is about.

Speaking of men and Austen, I am just reading Rudyard Kipling's short story "The Janeites."
