Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 97 comments I liked Avatar much more. I thought the graphics were incredible. Alice in Wonderland appealed to my "I heart Tim Burton" side, though. It was enjoyable, but Avatar was really good.

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) Loved Avatar - Alice in Wonderland was okay...

Kathy (cooldrenth) | 51 comments I like Avatar better but I only liked Alice in Wonderland becaeuse Johnny Depp was in it.

Samantha (samthemonkeygirl) | 10 comments Saw both movies in 3-D, however I was extremely lucky to be able to see Alice at an IMAX which was incredible. However as to which was better, the answer, hands down, is AVATAR. That movie was positively phenomenal. The graphics were awesome the 3-D part was subtle and not "in your face" which was great, and the story was, though admittingly predictable, still a very good one. I was blown away, I loved it. =]

Alice in Wonderland on the other hand was.. interesting. I enjoyed watching the movie however at the end of it there were several questions I had that went unanswered and I felt like something was lacking from it.

Hiddenheart I'm another person who didn't go to see Avatar. Although, I didn't truly want to go see it in the first place.
I loved Alice in Wonderland, but it was probably because it was my first movie in 3-D, and I spent the entire 2 hours trying to dodge the things that were coming at me. LOL.
I found one fault with Alice In Wonderland, however: Johnny Depp often speaks very quickly, and with the accent he used, it was hard to understand him. But, he made up for it at the end of the movie, with that dance.

message 9: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Saw both in 3D and Avatar wins hands down. It's like comparing Thanksgiving dinner with a McDonald's happy meal. Avatar was substantial, while Alice was fun.

But I will say that Alice would have been half the move it was without Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter--that man is just insanely talented in such a fun, wonderful, quirky way. :)

Avatar was the better movie but I still liked Alice. Was the a great movie? No, but I didn't go in expecting that I just wanted to be entertained and I was

Angela (angbens) | 343 comments I couldn't see Alice in 3-D (I have epilepsy...) My kids were not happy about having to see it normally...lol

message 12: by Dora610 (new)

Dora610 Alice is amazing!!

message 13: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samthemonkeygirl) | 10 comments I didn't think the effects were the story. They made the story more fantastical.. Other worldly. Phenomenal

message 14: by Sinead (new)

Sinead healy (sineadh) | 1 comments i've seen both movies avatar's effects were better hands down but i prefered alice cause i liked the story better, johnny depp was outstanding

message 15: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (audiobookmel) I saw both. Avatar has better graphics and effects, but the story was not good and seemed to be recycled from other stories.

Alice was wonderfully written and completely original (and it was based on a previously written book and even a movie). I will admit that the graphics were not as good as Avatar.

I will probably purchase Alice on DVD. Have no desire to ever see Avatar again.

Johnny Depp's acting was outstanding. He plays an excellent crazy person. The eyes freaked me out.

message 16: by Ellice (new)

Ellice (satanlovesme) AVATAR all the way its better and actually makes sense and has totally BADASS graphics i would HEART being an AVATAR!!!

message 17: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I thought Avatar was great graphically, disappointed that the story was so predictable. I was surprised with Alice on story ( I guess I had expected it to follow exactly like the childrens book) but the graphics weren't as good, but I had seen it at the drive-in, which sometimes isn't the greatest.

Fiona (yahoodymcewan) | 7 comments Avatar was really good but Alice in
Wonderland was fantastic, Johnny Depp wins hands down! lol

Jen ~The dreamer~ | 649 comments I loved them both for different reasons....I thought they were both amazing films. Avatar had an awesome message though.

message 20: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Holt (brandy11d) | 16 comments I enjoyed both movies but I do think that Avatar was better. I agree that Alice in Wonderland left a lot of unanswered questions.

message 21: by Davina (new)

Davina D. | 103 comments I think Alice in Wonderful was more visually striking, but I definitely enjoyed Avatar better.

Alice in Wonderland was cute, but it put me to sleep. Definitely more suitable for a younger audience I would say.

Girlovescupcakes | 5 comments ALICE IN WONDERLAND KICKS AVATARS BUTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!1

message 23: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samthemonkeygirl) | 10 comments Lol nooo way. There's no way that Alice kicked Avatar butt. There is no comparison and no question

Hrm... apples and oranges. If we're going by graphics alone, Avatar definitely wins. Cameron really pioneered some amazing new technology for the movie.

The stories and the intentions of both films, though, are so different that it's hard to compare them. Avatar's story is a very commonly recycled one, and while it works, it is kind of trite. I enjoyed it, but I was definitely aware that I was watching something like Fern Gully or Dances With Wolves in space. Alice, on the other hand, is definitely a Burton film. It was quirky and strange, and while it did have some problems, I enjoyed it, too. :)

(Forgive me, I just came out of a semester of film studies, lol)

message 25: by Ronyell (new)

Ronyell (rabbitearsblog) | 76 comments I enjoyed both movies, but I liked Avatar way better only because the characters were more developed, even though the plot was a bit predicable and I really liked the special effects.

Alice in Wonderland was pretty good too, but it felt like Alice's character was too downhearted or something like that, meaning that she doesn't seem to have any emotion in any of the events she was in and I couldn't relate to her that much even though I loved the idea that Tim Burton made her into a stronger person than in the original books. But I thought that the graphics were really good though!!

message 26: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (Smiley1881) I vote Avatar. I just didn't get Alice in Wonderland.

MsBeaglely | 118 comments I vote for None of the Above! I didn't care for either movie, but I did love Johnny Depp though.

I really wanted to like Avatar, but I it was too long & too boring. I thought it was 45 minutes too long.

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) "Avatar" would win for me, hands down.
