We moderators and several members have been talking side read suggestions in the Group Read folder, but we wanted to go ahead and post how we would like these side reads to work. First I'll say that Jane Austen group will continue to schedule main group reads particularly of Austen's own work and other Austen-related fiction/nonfiction titles that seem to have a big draw of interest.

We also wanted to encourage more side reads, or buddy reads, particularly those from suggestions by group members. These are simply reads suggested by our group members who really would like to try discussing a certain book, but realize there may only be a few people joining in their conversation at the present time.

First step to set up a side read: please be willing to lead the discussion and coordinate the schedule of the discussion.

For the second step: please contact the group moderators at either of our individual inboxes. As moderators, we will determine if there are possibly too many discussions on the group at the time or if this read is possibly one that might make a better main group read. If that is the case, we'll determine when it is best scheduled as that.

When we give the go-ahead to do a side read, we will set up a discussion folder for you. Our suggestion is to begin a thread to determine who is interested in joining you and then work out a schedule with those interested members.

Questions are welcome here on this thread or through our inboxes.
