stormhawk | 542 comments I've been on a Kindle Binge ... finished all 13 of the Lemony Snicket A Series of Unfortunate Events books.

Today I finished up Monday Night Jihad - Jason Elam & Steve Yohn, which was a very good action thriller.

Next up is A Bomb Built in Hell, by Andrew Vachss, which is available as a free PDF on his website, so I did a PDF conversion.

Aaron (scruffynerfer) I finished Poison Study by Maria V Synder yesterday. I am now on Friends Like These by Danny Wallace

I just finished reading The Will of the Empress by Tamora Pierce today. I'm sure what I'm going to read next.

Terri (clanmoran) | 77 comments I am reading Against All Odds (Heroes of Quantico, book 1) by Irene Hannon. So far very good book, and not even into the majorly exciting parts yet!

LemonLinda (lwilliamson0423) I am working on The Grapes of Wrath. I started out in the paperback that I had sitting on my shelf for years, but the print was entirely too small. It was annoying me and affecting my reading, so I moved on to the Kindle version and it is definitiely easier reading.

message 6: by Vicki (new)

Vicki I've done that too, with a book in the middle of a series that FINALLY became available on Kindle.

Right now I'm reading The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Reading my first FREE book...Wicked Lovely. I was thrilled when it was offered as a free book as I've had my Kindle for over 6 months now and this is the first free book I have read.

message 8: by Alanna (new)

Alanna | 25 comments I am reading New Moon(#2 Twilight series). Not usually my kind of genre of books but really liked Twilight so am going to finish the series.

How are you getting on with The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? I have brought it on the kindle but have not got round to reading it yet. I think mainly its the size of the book that is a little intimidating at the moment. Is it worth it?

message 12: by stormhawk (new)

stormhawk | 542 comments I can't speak for Vicki, but I really enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo ... there's a lot of tedious stuff at the front end. I had downloaded a sample and just got bogged down with the description of all this financial stuff that was completely uninteresting. I didn't think it was large enough to be intimidating, but that first chapter seems never to end! Once the story takes off (and you meet Salander), it becomes a whole different story. The Girl who Played with Fire is also a really good novel. I'm looking forward to the publication of the third, and final, book of the set in May 2010.

Ann | 83 comments just downloaded a sample of The Postman" can't wait to get to it.

How are you liking this book? I downloaded it but haven't had a chance to read it yet.

I'm currently reading Déjà Dead. I've had it in paperback for awhile, but it's fairly thick and I don't hold books that are thick well any more.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 109 comments I am actually working on some of my paper books right now *gasp* LOL. I am currently reading All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris and Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke.

My next Kindle book I plan to read is Dracula by Bram Stoker. I have been meaning to get to it forever! I am into paranormal and fantasy LOL. :)

stormhawk | 542 comments I was very excited to find Varney the Vampire, which I'd read about in a couple old books on Vampires in Film and Literature, but never expected ever to see, since it's been out of print since shortly after it was published in 1847. Bless the Kindle for making such things not just available, but available free.

I love the Sookie books! The next one is out on 5/4 -- crossing my fingers that Penguin allows Amazon to honor my Kindle pre-order! I have that downloaded Dracula too, I have heard this is good also:

Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu and it is free on Amazon. :)

I am reading: The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 25: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Aaron, sorry, I haven't been here for a few days. And in those few days the story has really cut loose in The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. I read 20% in 2 days. YES!!! The book is great and I hear that the 2nd and 3rd in the series are even better. And that they continue as though it is all one book, just divided into 3 volumes. I'm currently at 68%. The 2nd book, The Girl Who Played with Fire is the BIG one - 10,500 locations. But... the better to enjoy it, no?

Teresa, I'm enjoying it, but it's not one of those books that I can't put down. It suits me perfectly for the book on my iphone app, lol - I read it while I'm waiting at various practices/rehearsals/appointments. It's interesting enough to keep me reading, but I'm not staying up late to finish it. :)

I think that this is going to be my next book. I'm not the fastest reader, so this is going to take some time to get through. I was planning on seeing the film but I feel that a 2 hour long film is not going to do a book on this size any favors and so I think it will be best for me to read the book first. I feel like reading a good mystery next after reading a couple of fantasy books and the one I am reading currently. This one seems perfect for the job :)

I started to read it; it sounded like a good premise for a story, but it didn't hold my attention.

message 38: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (act1966) | 18 comments I just finished "1776" by David Mccullough; it was okay but I've read better historical writing. I'm now reading "Shakespeare" by Bill Bryson - VERY entertaining.

Bryan Craig I'm working on:
John Wayne American by Randy Roberts Randy Roberts

I like his movies and thought he would be interesting to learn more about. It is good, also a social history of movies.

I enjoyed 1776, but thought John Adams was a much better book.

I found this book to be a case where the programming of the Kindle version was unfortunate. The publisher put the "start" at Chapter 1 and not the Prologue. Had I read the prologue, I would have known that there was something more interesting than the Blomkvist set-up stuff in the first chapter.

Thanks for mentioning this book. I downloaded it for free and it sent me on a shopping spree of other free books that are recommended or related including vampires, werewolves and ghost stories. I must have "bought" 100 free books. It seemed like I did LOL!
I will let you know how I like it. :)
