I do that all the time. Like Sybil means prophecy and I was writing a book about this girl who is the prophecy of the new evolution and so, I thought the name Sibyl was cool and unique and it turned out to fit her so well.

I also tend to do research on the names. Writing a novel in England in the 1500's? Then look at what names were and were not popular in that time. Canada in 1994? Then look at what names were populare then. It works really well and will pull your story together better.
i need help with a name of a villain in disguise....i have no idea what to call him!!

are you thinking of his descuise name? like one he made up? or his actual name?
i'm just gonna have one name for him....it can't be TOO evil or it'll give him away :)
i ended up calling my character bruno.....it's an awesome name
