SOS: Serious Overload of Series discussion

Welcome! Thanks for Answering the SOS!

I continue hunting for new series, like you, even though my list of "hurry-up-and-finish" series doesn't get much smaller. I did create a self-challenge for myself at the beginning of this year to try to read 1 book for an already (as of 1/1/10) on-going series each week. So far, that's been working for me. Doesn't stop me from reading new ones though, which I also have a challenge for ... New2Me series - one book a week! LOL!!! What can I say? I'm a series-whore and I'm not ashamed to admit it! When you fall in love with characters, it's all the better when you get to keep following them, instead of saying good-bye after only 1 book. :)
Books in Series TBR: "Series Madness List"

I keep saying I'm not going to start any new series or by any new books as I have tons of each already, but it just never happens!:)

Broken record, that's me, but I'm in the same boat with ya. *Row, Row, Row your boat ....*
Kinda like finding a series a bit late in the game. It gives me a chance to read so many of them one right after the other, or at a slower pace, if need-be. At least it's on my terms and not the publishers. :) It also helps temporarily patch the gap waiting for the next release of your all-time-favorite been-with-from-the-start series.

My name is Camila, and I'm addicted to series (first step to the cure is admit the sickness... so I'm admitting)
Well, you named one serie and I'll say "yes, I read/started it". I'm always promising myself that the serie I'm reading will be the last... but no, always searching and finding another.
For example: last week start another

help me friends... I can't leave without a serie! Everything started with

thanks. We, the addicts to serie, must unite ours forces [image error] to try the cure... but I'm really hopeless [image error]... Sherrilyn Kenyon, JD Ward, Jennifer Rardin, Jacquelyn Frank etc etc... they are the ones to blame! Should exist some law to punish writers that create addicting series!

BTW
Does anyone remember reading a PNR series where the protagonists are prehistoric animals? There's a t-rex, a mammoth shark, a raptor, etc. They fight an entity called Zero (yeah, really). I read these books, and now can't remember the names or the author. *sigh* senile dementia for sure!

Nina Bangs maybe? Eternal Pleasure & Eternal Craving (Gods of Night)

"White Cat" was listed in the new release threads. You probably saw it there. And, Red Glove, book 2, is due out 06 Jun 2011. :)

:) Happy to help

Has anyone read the Black Jewels or Ephemera series by Anne Bishop? Starting with

If I wouldn´t control myself, I´d spend ALL my money on books, and I´m really happy, whenever the nice mailmen comes with my latest fix! :)
Can you help me??

I answered a thread on series for another group and realized I have about 30 series (off the top of my head - there may be more) going right now! Of course I'm not counting ones where I've either read the entire series already or series where I'm waiting for the next book to be published. 30 series are ones where I have multiple books to read just to catch up!!!
I'm more than a little afraid you guys are going to be adding to my to-read list! Oh, well. At least we're all kindred spirits!!!

**Warning: I can and will read through at least 1-2 books a day and will finish series within days or weeks depending on my free time and how long the series is**

Aske, when you say you don't really know what to do, do you mean in this group? or on GoodReads in general? If it's referring to the group, you can check out the "What now?" thread and group's site map here and it will help you get to know the group a bit better.
Everyone's welcome, so jump in on any thread in any folder at any time. :) Have fun and find some great new series to add to your TBR stack!

Just joined the group. I've always read but it use to be a book here and there. But in the last year I have found I can't get enough. Looking forward to chating with other readers about what they've just read.

Well it's mostly this website and all, but I will check out this link as well for this group. (Don't really use the internet that much in general) Thanks!

I've always loved to read series. I look forward to participating in the series madness.
Erin here...
Hello all!
I hail from British Columbia and I enjoy reading, when I was younger I ate up vampire and witch novels like they were going out of style. For a long time I was under the impression that these novels were only from Teens... until a friend untroduced me to Women of the Otherworld series, by suggesting I read; Bitten and from there I found Lara Adrian's Midnigt Breed series and fell in love with Lucan and the likes in Kiss of Midnight.
But now I have a problem, I have read through those books and I have to wait for the new releases I am looking for something to fill that gap! :o! And it looks like here is the place.

Welcome Anita!
Lots of series chattin' goin' on around here, so make yourself at home. :)

Aske, first place to start with GoodReads in general would be to try to enter as many of the books you've read as you can remember. Try to rate them and list your "read on" date. Then, update as you read more. You can edit your bookshelves just about any way you want. Just take a look at other GoodReaders' shelves and you'll get some idea of what I mean. Organize your books in whatever way works best for you.
There are 100s of groups you can join to chat about just about anything under the sun (and probably including the sun ... hehe). Most groups are "public" which means anyone can join. Some are "private" and either not accepting new members or you must either be invited or approved by the moderators/members.
I've created a folder in this group called "Around GoodReads". You might find some helpful tips and hints there as well.
In regards to the group, I hope the map helps you find your way around. If you ever have any questions about the group, please feel free to send me a private email.
Again, welcome to both GoodReads and my group! You'll have a great time on both, I think. :)

Welcome Southpaw! (I'm a lefty too! Lefties do it right, yah?! hehe)
You are in the right place! Welcome to the group were those affected with series madness have escaped and are now running the asylum. LOL!! :D

Welcome, E(rin)!
SOS is most definitely the right place for you then. I don't know if it's possible to NOT add tons of new series reads to your TBR stack while cruisin' around this group! Hope you're able to find some you enjoy.

Even worse than being a book addict, since joining GR, I've become a challenge addict. In fact, that's how I heard about this group - something about a challenge of firsts.
So the first thing I do is check out your challenge section and they sound interesting, so of course I have to join. What is worse, is I look at the "Challenge" Challenge and realize I have 13 challenges that started this month.
So thanks for being one more enabler for me and I look forward to all the new series I'm going to end up adding to my TBR/wishlist.

I look forward to expanding my series horizons!

Welcome Diane!
*bows* You're welcome. >:) Yes, I (and many of our members) am a major enabler! Hey, misery loves company! If you're looking to quit or severely limit your series reads or challenges and not looking to add to your TBR stack at all this is certainly the wrong group to join.
Why stop now? :) There are so many great series out there and fun challenges to join to keep us goin'. Hope you enjoy the group and find some good reads while you're here.

Welcome Fran!
And thanks to whoever suggested our group as a happy home for series lovers. :)
You'll find a TON of new series to read while you're here and hopefully a challenge or two that spark your interest.

Nice to meet you all!

Thanks Steph!

I'm moving soon and packing up books. I've been making goodreads shelves by series # because it seems like every book now is part of a series. Anyway I need a better way to sort my books and think might try going by series #. I have so far well over 100 1st in a series books. I've been trying to read a couple every month so I can decide if I want to get rid of others that I have or get the ones I'm missing.

Again, thanks to whoever suggested my group. I hope you enjoy it here. We here at SOS are all serious series addicts and many of us are challenge addicts as well. So, you've come to the right place. :)
Mary, I have a thread called "How Do You Keep Track of Your Series" which might help you with organizing yours. There are a lot of suggestions there. Hope you're able to find one that works for you too.
Good luck with the move!

Hope ya'll enjoy it here and find some interesting reads.
I realized recently that I read more serials than stand-alones. Not necessarily on purpose though. It's great when you find characters you love or love to hate and get to follow them along on their, hopefully long, journey. :)
