This is the official thread for posting book information when you cannot remember the name of a book.

If you are looking for a particular title and cannot remember its name, post a description here, and maybe some of the other members can help you out.

EeeJay | 73 comments - [Solved!:]: A book where the heroine's called Gwen - hero: Bradley (he hates being called that and prefers Brad)...She has a godfather named Leo who basically forces Brad and her to marry. Brad needs the money to keep his father from taking over his business and Leo is a friend...Gwen's studying business studies.....I can provide more details but for someone who knows the book title, I guess this info should be enough.

1.There are 6 books I know of with a Finn for the heroine: That Boss of Mine by Elizabeth Bevarly, White-Hot! by Trish Wylie, Fools Rush In by Vicki Lewis Thompson, Mother In Training by Marie Ferrarella, The Scandalous Heiress by Kathryn Taylor, and Without Love by Jessica Steele.

2. Pulse Of The Heartland by Melinda Cross.

3. Separate Lives by Caroline Jantz

I hope one of the titles fits your first book. Good luck!

Hey Harlequin. My friend was trying to use the coupon offer for the BOGO sale going on at eharlequin, and it said it was invalid. Do you know anything about that?

Harlequin Books (harlequinbooks) | 87 comments Hmmm, not sure what the problem is. I just placed an order to see if I had any problems with the code and I didn't. Did she use BOGO43D? If she used lowercase, that might be the problem or maybe she did what I did when I first entered the code. I held my shift key down the entire time and forgot that the 4 and 3 would be $ and #. I had to retype the code. I think I need to take a break and drink some more coffee, silly mistake like that, sheesh

P.S I remember the cover of this particular book - the Elfin from 'my' book ( ;) ) is sitting on the stairs, has a bob cut and is redhead.....and is really adorable - I do remember how adorable she looked! =)

It doesn't match the titles you wrote or maybe I'm remembering the wrong book cover=(....Anyway, thanks!

I haven't read this one personally and the info you have given isn't enough for me to find it in our records. I can't look up ex's info and there are SO many books out there with a sister or brother getting married that I need to be able to narrow the search down by something.

[Unsolved:]
P.S I was just browing amazon on the books I remember and came across this thread:

"Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone remembers this book. I think it was published around 91-96. It was a red book I believe so maybe the Desire series? Anyways their parents get married and so they are thrown together. He is older I think. I remember that most of their scenes when they are younger are flashback scenes. In the beginning he gets drunk and she has to help him sneak into his room so their parents won't find out. They end up married... I think maybe due to a will when one of the parents or relatives pass away. If anyone has suggestions let me know! Thanks :)"

I like the synopsis and I want to know the title, if anyone can help I'd appreciate it =)

message 25: by EeeJay (last edited Feb 18, 2011 03:58AM) (new)

EeeJay | 73 comments Two books (similar theme):

1-[Solved(Impact - MK):] Hero is a race car driver - his cousin(?) is a driver too and is engaged to the heroine - after some tussle the hero gets the engagement to be broken and such but despite misgivings on the heroine's part ( even after she's ridden in the car with him and experienced it first hand) the hero goes on to race. I think the cousin does something bad and the hero's car crashes and the heroine gives her blood to the hero....

2- [Solved!:]:Hero is into racing ( I'm not sure, some dangerous sports for sure) and he and the heroine get together in the very beg of the novel and marry. The heroine keeps telling him how frightened she is but he doesn't listen and sort of mocks her. The lady is a seamstress and opens her shop in a building near the ocean or something. Finally one day after they've had a huge fight, she moves into her office where the office building catches fire and she's sure she's going to die. She calls the hero to say goodbye and that she loves him and he comes to her rescue....

Any help would be appreciated!
=)

Eejay, I don't recall these two. I can think of two racing books I read:

Cruellest Lie by Susan Napier
and
Taken By The Highest Bidder by Jane Porter.

They don't sound like these descriptions.

Eejay, I believe the second book is Ultimatum by Sally Wentworth.

I recall reading the first one, but can't recall title or author right now.

message 29: by EeeJay (last edited Jun 10, 2010 01:16AM) (new)

EeeJay | 73 comments [Solved:]: Hero called Ben (Benjamin?) and heroine called Vanessa. (The book is not Savage Courtship - I read both the books the same time so I remember it being quite a coincidence)

Story: Vanessa is married to Ben and she goes home in urgency after her husband leaves for office because her cousin is sick. Her parents died when she was a child and she came to live with her uncle and aunt...Her secret is that she was in love with her 'cousin'and it turned out that her uncle had slept with her mother so her cousin was actually her half-brother. Her husband knows this and he pursues her to her home and confronts her and then forces her to acknowledge the strong physical bond that exists between them

[ and almost at the end the hero points out how in the beg, she didn't give him any lift at all and how he's loved her all along...:]

willaful | 344 comments Charlotte Lamb (I think half her heroes were named Ben.) I need to look up the title.

message 31: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments Secret Obsession. Her name is actually Nerissa. You can find lots about it online, it's one of those that people really remember.

LOL! I guess she likes the name Ben. :)

message 33: by Verity (new)

Verity | 567 comments I read that 1 & it's disturbing that heroine almost married her cousin & still carries a torch 4 him.

message 34: by EeeJay (new)

EeeJay | 73 comments I get that its terrible to have married her half-brother but that aside... is marrying cousins a sin in the western cultures?

message 35: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments Eeejay - it seems to be pretty taboo in the United States, but apparently not in Great Britain. I say seems to be because I grew up without that particular taboo. (Perhaps because I had no cousins?) My husband has it in spades, however.

message 36: by EeeJay (last edited Jun 10, 2010 01:16AM) (new)

EeeJay | 73 comments Its weird - Its not a taboo at all in my culture - infact in my parents' generation most of the time people just married their cousins, esp with the arranged marriages system...for us its a cultural and religious norm...

message 37: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Harlequin Presents are my crack! (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 2281 comments Mod
I think it's become sort of a joke when it comes to rural communities--about cousins getting together and everyone being related.

message 38: by Slaveforomance (new)

Slaveforomance | 68 comments I could be wrong but some states have laws where first cousins can't marry each other. With health issues, it is better to not marry as first cousins even though it still does happen.

Getting back to the book, I didn't like Secret Obession. It just wasn't the cousin thing. The whole book lack romance between the two main characters.

message 39: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments From the reading I've done, I think the laws are more based on the taboo than because of actual health issues.

I didn't like the book much either.

message 40: by Slaveforomance (new)

Slaveforomance | 68 comments Sorry, I wasn't clear. I was saying that because of health concerns (recessive genes and the like), first cousins should not marry in the first place not that laws were based on health issues.

message 41: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments That's not what I meant - I think the health issues are exaggerated and belief in them (leading to laws about them) most likely springs from the taboo.

Here's the Straight Dope's opinion on the topic.

message 42: by Vashti (new)

Vashti | 732 comments READ A BOOK A WHILE BACK WHERE THEY HAD THIS THEME OF 1ST COUSINS MARRYING EACH OTHER, WHEN THE HERO CALLES THE HEROINES MOM ,AUNT, HAD TO READ THRU ABOUT THREE TIMES TO MAKE SURE THAT I WAS READING CORRECTLY,BUT THIS SORT OF THING WAS THE NORM YEARS AGO AND STILL BEING PRATICED IN EASTERN CULTURES, MINE BEING ONE OF THEM, SOME OF THE ARISTO FAMILIES I BELIEVE STILL DO THIS.

Best Man To Wed? by Penny Jordan has two first cousins who marry.

message 44: by willaful (new)

willaful | 344 comments Penny Jordan's an English writer, so that fits with it not being an English taboo.

message 45: by Chris (new)

Chris (azzie) | 6 comments I am so happy to find this community/thread! There's this Harlequin Presents book that I've been trying to track down for what feels like forever.

I believe it was a Greek Tycoon title. The Heroine and the Hero were slated to be married but some vicious girls set up the Heroine to look like she cheated on the Hero. The Heroine is not typically beautiful - in fact, I think she was a bit chubby.

Fast forward a few years into the future. Heroine goes to Hero for some financial help. Heroine is poor and desperate for funds to help her mother. Hero traps Heroine in a marriage that she can only be free from if she can provide Hero with a male heir. Lots of drama. I remember the Hero declaring that he hopes they have a dozen girls so Heroine will never leave Hero.

Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thanks SO much!
