.... everyone in the story thinks the heroine is too pretty to be with someone like Jake (which meant he is not that very attractive)

Broken wing-Judith James: Heroe is scarred but by a means you'd neve expect.
Beast-Judith Ivory: hero is scarred
Snowfire-( can't remember who the author is): Hero)mOrgan Kincaid) is scarred missing an eye (this bok is no longer in Pub but is so good)
All of the Black dagger brotherhood series- JR Ward they are all Atypical heros. Extremely good.
A hearing Heart-Bonnie Dee: Hero is deaf ( really good)
Bid for a bride-Ruth Ann Norton: Hero is blind a( the book is a little tam efor me but still sweet and interesting)
Texas Destiny-Loraine Heath: Hero is scarred and partially deaf Great Book!
mistress to the beast-Eve vaughn: Hero is scarred short but satisfying read.
Impestuous Abuction-Patricia Frances Powel- Hero is an amputee. Love this book
Edge of sight-Roxanne St Claire: hero is scarred and missing an eye ( another really good read, mystery suspence passion, it all there)
Always and forever-Pam labud: Hero is disabled, great book
Her Millionaire Miracle- Myrna mackenzie
Doubting thomas-Stephanie taylor- Hero is scarred( yeta again great book)
Her second hand wife- Cheryl St John- Hero is scarred( great book)
Never Call it loving-Gail link: hero is scarred (an oldie but a goody)
One summer-Karen Robard: Hero is not physically scarred but has his baggage (great hero I read it every summer)
These are just a few of my favs but some my others have alreasy been mentioned. Kresely Coles's If you decieve makes me cry everytime I read it, and Tapesrty don't even get me started. Anyways hope this helps in the pursuit of a great but underidentified genre.

Playing the Part by Darcy Daniel. The hero is blind AND a virgin! But it works. Loved it.
