What books are so good that you can't help but rave about them?

message 2: by Amy (new)

Amy (runawaymarbles) | 75 comments don't get me started. : )

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

The Mortal Instruments. I absolutely love those books!

Oh, those are good. Harry Potter, most of Dean Koontz's books, particularly Life Expectancy, Percy Jackson, Mortal Instruments, the Stephanie Plum books (but only in the summer), and a whole list of other ones. Oh, and I also really love Letters to Ryan, Guinea Pig, Outcast, Hunted, Life in D Minor, Injection, Edge, and Fear's Truce.

message 5: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle The Uglies series, Harry Potter (of course), The Book Thief.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never read the Uglies series, but I heard they were good.

message 7: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle They are, though I haven't read them all...I read the fourth one, then the first one...not sure why?!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, well don't hate me, but I've never read the entire harry potter series. I was really into them, but then other books caught my attention. I should probably get back to them.

message 9: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I didn't read them until last year. I got a set of the first four books when the goblet of fire came out and just left them in the cupboard till then.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm only half way through the 4th.

message 11: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Well, I think they get better as they go along. Way better than the movies aswell!

I tried to read the Book Thief, but I couldn't get more than halfway. I guess it's just not my type of book.

message 13: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) No? Darn. That is my favorite book ever.

Other than that, the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness.

message 14: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle I found the beginning of the book a bit boring and it dragged on, but after I got halfway through I was hooked.

message 15: by Niki, the Great and Powerful Empress of Sarcasm! (new)

Niki | 91 comments Mod
I don't think books that are designed to make me cry are very good.

And I approve of that author's name.

message 16: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) Those are my favorite kinds.

I thought you might.

I don't like crying. Although it does make my eyes look really blue-green and gorgeous, so perhaps I should do it more often.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

haha I cry all the rime. It is ridiculous. My mom makes fun of me because my chin trembles. haha

message 19: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) I'm a crybaby. Except when it comes to books.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I am so emotional, especially with books. When I was younger, I would only read books about dogs, so of course I was hooked on Marley and Me. haha Anyway, when I finished, I was crying so much. It sucks

message 21: by Baxter (new)

Baxter (julietrocksmysocks) | 18 comments The only time I cried was at the end of Super Dimension Fortress Macross...and Metal Gear Solid 3.

message 22: by Niki, the Great and Powerful Empress of Sarcasm! (new)

Niki | 91 comments Mod
I cried once. One time.

message 23: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Niki wrote: "I don't like crying. Although it does make my eyes look really blue-green and gorgeous, so perhaps I should do it more often."

I don't like crying either, that's why I've avoided watching Titanic for so long.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I can proudly say that I never cried during Titanic. I don't know why. That is the only thing that didn't make me cry. I mean, why couldn't the girl just share the door? Maybe he would have lived...

♫Krista♫ (kristabobista) | 71 comments Mod
Megan, don't get me started about Titanic. And if Sella were in this group it would be... Well, we would take over with loud, random shouts of JAAACCKK. And I did cry, every time I see that movie. And there wasn't that much room on the door; it would have sinked if they both were on it. Besides, would the movie really be good if Jack did live?

And I cry with almost every book. Yet, I don't cry in real life. Stories make me more emotional than anything in my life can. Hubba.

Niki | 91 comments Mod
Titanic was stupid.

message 27: by ♫Krista♫, the Great and Powerful Empress of Silliness! (new)

♫Krista♫ (kristabobista) | 71 comments Mod
No, it wasn't. It was a sweet love story and showed the tragedy of what happened on Titanic. And it won eleven academy awards, I'm sure that can't make it stupid. But of course it's your opinion.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I have to agree with Niki, but I was just kidding about the door.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I've seen the Titanic twice in my whole life I think. It didn't make me cry but I didn't think it was awful either.

message 30: by Amy (new)

Amy (runawaymarbles) | 75 comments I have never seen Titanic and I don't plan to because it sounds...

Oh, hah. My bad. I just love Titanic; it's one of my favorite movies. I don't think I can ever see it as stupid.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

My brother watches it more than me, but only because of the nude scene. Yes, he's one of those boys. haha

I told you guys, I don't like movies or books designed to make people cry.

Hey, you guys know. Some other people don't know about my obsession love for Titanic. But I'll stop.

That's how my brother is about that scene. Aha, boys...

message 36: by Amy (new)

Amy (runawaymarbles) | 75 comments Which scene?

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

The one where Jack is drawing the girl naked.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

I love the Fablehaven series. They aren't perfect and the first book is a little hard to get into, but the rest of the books make up for it.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd also recommend The Hourglass Door, by Lisa Mangum. It's going to be a trilogy. It's kind of what Twilight would be like if there was more of a plot outside the romance, and the characters were more round. It doesn't involve vampires either. It still has its flaws, but I love it. =]

message 40: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle So basically it's like Twilight, but nothing like it at all?

message 41: by Ilana (new)

Ilana (ilanashayn) Yeah, how is that like Twilight?

YES! I LOVE THAT SERIES! I'M SO EXCITED FOR THE FORGOTTEN LOCKET!!!

It's like Twilight because a mystery guy comes to her school--Dante--and he ends being sorta dangerous, like Edward and such, but not really. It has nothing to do with vampires, but time travel and other really awesome stuff. I'm bad at explaining without giving away things. It's a good read. I enjoyed, but I enjoyy everything I read. And gosh, I can't really compare it to Twilight. It's so much better. Abby is much rounder than Bella and Dante isn't a creeper. Plus all the side characters are great. Valerie, Zo, Jason, they're all so great. Nothing super fluffy and stupid.

message 43: by Flameholly161 (new)

Flameholly161 I love Vampire Academy!!!!!! I also like the Host, the Hunger Games, and the House of Night Series, but Vampire Academy is my favorite.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha. You guys are funny. XD I see what you mean.

Pretty much what Krista said.
