I'll keep updating this spot with points at the end of every month. For now I want to be sure that I have everyone who's participating so far. Let me know if I've missed your name and you've read one of the books of the month or an ongoing challenge. If you'd like to participate just start reading and posting.

There's still a day to finish your TBR for this month. Also, try and get the monthly reads covered since each book is 2 points a piece. The TBR is the only challenge that has to be done this month to get the points so make sure you get that covered.

message 3: by Angela (new)

Angela B I'm doing better then I thought I was :)

message 4: by Sherri (new)

Sherri (sherrij2003) I'm not doing to well, but at least I'm not last!

message 5: by Angela (new)

Angela B Hi Heather I have another question for you!
I know you said you wouldn't hold it against us if a book we had a a challenge book was later used as a book of the month so I was wondering because I have choosen Fallen as an ON THE COVER challenge and from the poll it looks like it's got a good chance of winning in August I was wondering if I read it in August if it will count as 3 points or if because I haven't read it yet I need to change my ON THE COVER book to get a whole 3 points...

Look at me making everything complicated!?! Sorry!

message 6: by Jen (new)

Jen Good question, Angela... I was wondering the same thing.

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
No problem. If you haven't read it yet then I would just pick another Angel book for your challenge. Or blue book. If you had already read it then don't worry about it. That way you get a chance to diversify. The idea was that if you read it in June and then the group picked it to read months later then you wouldn't have to go back and re-read your book from June.

Gotcha... thanks for the clarification.

This is just where our points are posted from the challenges so you don't have to do anything. If Heather misses you when she updates, just post to let her know what you have done so far. :)

I'll add up the points from the monthly reads, the tbr challenge, and the other ones here like Carrie said. I'll update this section toward the end of the month.

No problem. Just join the different challenges in the Ongoing Extra Challenges section and participate in the group reads and I''ll add you to the list. The Incentive to Read section will help explain how to get the points.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Are the points resetting at the first of the year so people get a chance to catch up at some point if they started late?

message 24: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I think so because the A-Z doesn't count until next years points. I think, I get confused with different challenges and groups.

message 25: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
Yes. If I can afford to I'll take the top few people and pick a second "winner" out of a hat for those that worked their butts off. I can't guarantee it, but I'd like to since I know that those of us in the group back in June had a serious advantage. Plus, it seems like there should be a chance for more than one person. IF!!! I can do it, it'd be a smaller prize, but it's still something even if it's nothing special.

message 26: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I'm just doing it for fun, so don't include me in it. I think I said it before, but I can't remember.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments Oh, I don't even care about a prize. I'm just competitive.

message 28: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I second what the others are saying. I know I read a lot and I read for fun, not for anything else.

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I read for fun, but the challenges provide an outlet for narrowing down all the choices. It makes it easier for me to decide what's next.

message 30: by Angela (new)

Angela B Stacia wrote: "Oh, I don't even care about a prize. I'm just competitive."

Me too...I don't know where it came from either, I don't think I was always competitive, but maybe that's because I'm awful at sports

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 827 comments My family hates to play any sort of board game/trivia game with me. They say I gloat if I win.

message 32: by Angela (new)

Angela B haha that's funny!

I want friends that know how to play bonus canasta, or are more like me and willing to stay home and do such a thing.....I am such an old person in a young persons body

message 33: by Heather (last edited Sep 23, 2010 10:14PM) (new)

Heather T (horrorvacui000) | 5931 comments Mod
I only gloat internally. I try really hard to downplay it if I do. I also try to hid how ticked I am if I don't win. I would even compete in practice for sports. I could never just relax and pitch or swim, I had to push myself to try and be better than everyone else. I didn't always get there, but I was a lot better because of it.

My husband's family is so competitive at Skip-Bo. They've even been known to kick their 90 year old great-grandmother under the table. Although, she kicks back. They cheat like crazy.

message 34: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jadorejas94) | 950 comments I hate when people cheat at games.

message 35: by Jen (new)

Jen I'm pretty competetive. With these challenges, though, I'm more competing with myself. It's also helping me to read books that I own. I'm really not playing for a prize.

I'll post points after the New Release and Delirity challenges end so that I can officially be done with counting them.
Multiple postings make it harder to count so it'll save me some time.

message 37: by Ali (new)

Ali | 43 comments Heather- where do we post the books we've read for the different challenges? is it just for books we have read as part of this group?

message 38: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I will try to answer since I know Heather said she won't be around that much this week. For all of the challenges we post the books in each individual challenge thread.

For the monthly reads, I think as long as you have read the book and contribute to the discussion, that is all that is needed.

For the different challenges, ie: A-Z challenge, we each have one post where we post all of our books for that challenge. You don't have to decide on every book before hand. Just go back and update your post when you have finished and put the date. Also, put your progress at the top of the post (8 out of 26 finished). Oh, and the books you can use for each challenge have dates on when you have to read the books by. like if the challenge started on July 15 and ends Dec. 31, the books that can count for that challenge have to be read in that time.

If I didn't explain things right, just ask and one of us can try again, lol.
