Rose | 17 comments Okay, so I was reading the posts and saw the fantasy brainstorm, but who wants to start a SciFi one?

Some ideas could be:
*Futuristic earth (some 800 or so years in the future)
*a different planet/galaxy
*Use aliens as main characters...
*some sort of robot or something has escaped/become too sentient
*genetic crossings to make winged humans and the like... (mer-creatures, etc...)
*humans out colonizing encounter an inter-alien war and have to deal w/it...
any other ideas people come up with and once there are some more, we can pick and start work on specifics...

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Your second to last idea is like Maximum Ride. They are humans with bird wings, so unless you want to do a fan fiction for that, I'm totally up for it.

message 3: by Rose (new)

Rose | 17 comments Yeah, I realized after I posted it that it was similar to those, but figured we could probably change things to make it more our idea. I had been actually thinking more so of using water-crossed humans, but gave the bird human idea to make more sense.
So would you like to do a genetic crossing thing and work out other ideas? Because I'd been hoping to do original ideas not fanfics...

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah . . . hmm.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

how about alien virus?

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

nah.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

hm.... :_
think think think
:_

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» Or you could do something exploring the idea of some natural disaster or something happening in the near (or distant) future.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Has anybody ever read storm thief?

message 10: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (cheshire) | 203 comments No, sounds good though. *Goes eagarly to library website to try and find it*))

message 11: by Rose (new)

Rose | 17 comments Yeah, I read Storm thief, I don't really remember what it was about except there was that city and they didn't let people leave and there were these unpredictable storms that did weird things...

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah. It was a way good book, but ended kinda sad...

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

don't tell me! I'm a gonna read it!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

okay! :D

message 15: by Steve (new)

Steve How about a book that starts off as bacteria that evolve into an organism of our own imagining. The conflict of the story can be the new creatures claiming dominance of their world while tackling various social issues specific to that species. Like uber-sexism, because the species could have like 8 sexes.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

that is an amazingly big vocabulary! :D Could you dumb it down to simple words for me?

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» Yeah, I need simple wordings too.

message 18: by Rose (new)

Rose | 17 comments Basically, he's saying there are bacteria that grow into real creatures, ones that we as the writers can make up. The conflict could involve the creatures that used to be bacteria claiming their world and fighting for it, while dealing with issues that are only for that creature. Steve's suggesting having them deal with having more than two sexes. (Or that's the gist I got of it...)
Idle Question, what could multiple sexes be? Would they have stages in their sex life when they're male/female? Or (and this is a reference to Tanya Huff's book Valor's Choice)would they have one stage in which they are extremely sexually active and another where they can reproduce?

And a suggestion to that, wouldn't there also be the conflict between the new organism and whoever had settled the planet? So if it were a human colony on the planet and the new species is hoping to gain control of their planet, wouldn't there also be conflicts between those two? Because if they had 8 sexes, they would have evolved having that and be used to it so it wouldn't be a problem for them, just for their interactions with other creatures....

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» that's really complicated.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

confusing!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

uh.... my brain!

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

read the first line, and I was just totally like what?
No offense.

message 23: by Noelle (new)

Noelle (bellie) | 2 comments Not really, once you think about it. The concept is the evolution of a species very different from ourselves and how they interact with their own issues as well as with other intelligent creatures. It's a great opportunity for creativity concerning the makeup and society of a whole new organism- endless possibilities! I think it's a very good idea that could go in a lot of different directions. We just have to pick one of them.

s•u•n•s•h•i•n•e «§KENZ§» erm... You guys? My brain just exploded. Now I have to go find all the pieces. =D

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, so confused!

message 26: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Hair Guys! It's simple! Bacteria grow into an organism. They want to take over earth! Humans and Bacteria struggle for dominance! Am I making any sense? It just isn't that complex.

I'd love to try that story, I really would. Someone give me a call when it goes active, eh?

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

It makes sense now!
Yeah, I guess we could try that.
But i think it should be from the human's pov. none of the bacteria pov.
Like the main character is a doctor/scientist, and he discovers the bacteria, and what it's doing.

message 28: by Rose (new)

Rose | 17 comments I personally don't think it should be set on Earth. Humans are colonizing another planet and discover the evolving bacteria, or maybe they accidentally prompt the creatures' evolution and the bacteria decide they want the planet for themselves. I'd say have at least one bacteria pov. and at least one human pov.

message 29: by Steve (last edited Jun 25, 2008 06:27AM) (new)

Steve So, if Humans are fighting them for control of their planet... if bacteria was chosen as the threat maybe it could just evolve real rapidly. Like the Humans have a tough time keeping up with it. Maybe it has the ability to change Humans into whatever it evolves. Maybe that is how it evolves. Each Humans DNA makes something different.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, now it's kind of sounding like The Host, and honestly, that was enough science fiction for me.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

:D haha! Funny! well would it be alien or somethin? or did like parallel universe come into the concept?

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

?idk

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Steve!

message 34: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok, what about they dont know theyre being taken over at first b/c the organisme adapted to life and look like real plants/animals/humans. so eventually people start going missing, b/c the organisme feed off the real life forms, or are just curious and doing experiments, whichever. and one of the aliens start a rebellion b/c they dont believe that humans and reality should be harmed, and that they should coexist together in peace. but the other aliens dont like that idea, so they shun it. and the shunned one goes to the humans to warn them. and if you want, there could be something something else going on.

first thing that popped into my head? sorry.

message 35: by T.O.L.I. (new)

T.O.L.I. (taleoflostink) this is beggining to sound ike the invasion of the body snatchers

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

just like the Host.

message 37: by Noelle (new)

Noelle (bellie) | 2 comments If we don't want to stray into the unoriginal, I think that we should eliminate humans from the picture altogether, or make the humans themselves the colonizing force.

message 38: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok, sorry. first thing that popped into my head. sounded ok at the time. id forgotten all about the host. shame on me.

message 39: by Steve (last edited Jun 26, 2008 01:21PM) (new)

Steve hmmm... we could rip off L. Ron Hubbard and say the bacteria are the souls of an ancient slave race that were exterminated by a volcano. But, I don't want to offend any Scientologists, or worse... L. Ron Hubbard fans. Sorry, had to make that joke. But seriously, I was wondering if they ever made a story about a world of robots long abandoned by their makers, so they pretty much forgot about organic like... other than plants. Then they create an intelligent being not a robot... it could even be the first human. It would be like the reverse of what most stories are about. I just thought that would be cool, and I didn't know if it had been done. Sorry to go off topic.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

haha! OHHHH! I got an epiphany!! :D

message 41: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ooh!! what??!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

uh.... let me see... how to explain. It doesn't have much to do with our idea and it's kind of like the run... :|

message 43: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok...

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

hm... ok, let's say future right?

message 45: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok...

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

There were these scientists that did this experiment on a human, a guy named whatever. I dunno, But they made him into the first Andrite.

message 47: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok...

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

He was physically enhanced. But since he was the first one he kinda went wack.

message 49: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) ok...

message 50: by [deleted user] (new)

So... He became this mad terrorist kind of guy. Now say they have had these people chase after him for like years. This one girl, is really badly hurt by him and she was probably the closest to getting on his trail out of all of the others, so the scientists take a risk.
