The Next Best Book Club discussion

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And Check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

We will have two catagories this month:
Cat1- Regular Fiction/Non-Fiction
Cat2- Beach Read Theme


Only ONE nomination per person.
If you nominate a book for catagory 1, you CANNOT nominate a book for catagory 2, and visa versa.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the catagory it belongs to.

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

I will accept nominations through Monday evening. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!

Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!

I know we didnt really discuss Beach Reads, but I'm thinking a light summery sort of read will be perfect for the month of August! Lay em on me!

Category 1 - The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons

Cat 1 - Someone Knows My Name by Lawrence Hill. (In some countries (like Canada), it is published as "The Book of Negroes").

Catagory 2: Island of the Sequined Love Nun by Christopher Moore
(I hope that's considered a Beach read. His books are fun, light reads. Let me know if it's not.)

Cat 2: Summer Of '42 by Herman Raucher. One of my favorite reads for our Cape Cod summers.

Category 1: A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True by Brigid Pasulka

Cat 2: The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen

I totally agree about The Bronze Horseman byPaullina Simons. The preview sounds very interesting.

Cat 1: The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

Cat 1 - The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by Gordon Dahlquist.

Cat 2- The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz

I don't believe it's "beachy" (in that it happens in the summer), but from what I've heard its a light, funny read. Hope this counts.

Cat 2 - Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris

There are some references to beach houses/times. It's also a blast to read! It's a very light, easy read! Hope this is worthwhile!
