Read the Movie discussion

I had no desire whatsoever to read this book (or see the movie), but was looking for a light, easy read, and finally caved in and read it. Mistake! While reading, I kept waiting for it to get good (I kept thinking, "ok, what am i missing???")

got halfway through it and forced myself to keep going (I thought, since it was an easy read, I could finish it no problem). Wrong. Got to page 400 and couldn't take it any more.

I wanted to finish it so bad (hate leaving books unread), but found it such an awful read that I couldn't stomach any more cheesiness. So, thought I'd watch the movie, not only to see how it ends, but in hopes that it would be better than the book. Wrong again!

the acting was as cheesy as the book. So disappointing. I'm sure if I was a teen or pre-teen, I would be loving the phenonmenon craze, but alas, I'm not.

I'm just glad there are others out there who feel the same as me!

Haven't read the Twilight books or seen any of the movies. I too feel as though I am missing a big part of pop culture. I haven't seen Avatar yet either...but that is not based on a book as far as I know.

Glad to know there are others who feel the same about Twilight! Shea, not to worry, you are not missing anything.

Well, since I posted almost exactly three years ago I have both read the books and seen the movies. I took them for what they were and tried to find redeeming qualities. I appreciated Meyer's slight spin on the vampire legend. I liked the idea that the Cullens see the evil in killing people and live as "vegetarians." The movies were campy however there was a great effort to stay true to the books and I give kudos for that. Especially at the end of the series/movies there is a lot of emphasis on family. There is a very positive message of loving and embracing people for who they are as individuals and that family is sometimes who you choose.

Oh, well - I don't think Twilight Saga is THAT bad!! I mean, when I read it (at the age of 12 I think) I literally LOVED it!! Now it seems too silly but won;t exactly say that it is very bad .

I did enjoy reading and watching Twilight (more so watching); I love Stephanie Meyers style of writing. (Try reading 'The Host'- Epic novel! Full of action. Movie is pretty good too. Love Saoirse Ronan!). I completely agree with Shea! Interesting points.
