Bella Foxygobble (dcrain02) I was just wondering if you subscribe, or buy your books in-store? I really enjoy reading love-inspired and thought of subscribing, but I don't like not being able to guarantee which released titles I get each month. How about you? I also hate the idea of possible back log if I can't get to them every month as there isn't a high-demand for them in swaps.

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 9 comments Lately, I just trade for the specific titles I want to read (usually from favorite authors), buy them used, or try to get them through the library. Several years ago, I subscribed to Harlequin Historicals, but quit my subscription when I ended up with a back-log like you mentioned. I still have a bunch I haven't gotten around to reading yet. If you are a subscriber you should get all the titles that are released each month, which I think is usually 4-6 depending on the line. That's the way it was when I got the HH books.

Terri (clanmoran) | 10 comments Wish I could help--I get them on my Kindle, but I USED to subscribe and when I got too bogged down, I canceled.

I don't read as many new ones as I used to (so little time, so many books I want to read) but I buy in-store for ones I want. They're easy to get a hold of here...I can get them at either KMart, WalMart, Target, and the grocery store sells some. So I just pick them up there...plus all those stores offer 25% off books, which works for me ;)

Verity | 2 comments Nowadays I only buy from M&B.com / EHQN.com / BoB.com. Only once in a blue moon I'll buy PB @ Target, 'cuz I'm trying to save space. I use Borders coupons to buy my non-HP books, esp if 40 % off =^B

The ones I've read & are not likely to be re-read, I send to some GR BFFs. It's been v. beneficial to me.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments I subscribe to an embarrassing # of lines:

Harlequin Presents
Harlequin Historicals
Harlequin Nocturne (for my sister, *wink*)
Love Inspired Historical
Silhouette Desire

I don't worry about the backlog. At least I'll have books to read for a rainy day. The ones I don't want, I just trade to others.

Melissa (mblisa) | 9 comments I just found this thread.. =)
I subscribe to the regular line of Love Inspired (Large Print ) - and I have about 12 now to catch up on. I trade them on PBS..when I am done reading them. I also like the Love Inspired Historical line, and I get them online or at used book stores when I can find them.

Nicola Marsh (nicola_marsh) Subscribing is good!
You get the books a month or 2 earlier than everyone else :)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments That is a real plus, Nicola!

message 10: by AlbertaJenn (new)

AlbertaJenn I work at a bookstore, and so get 30% off my books. Then I donate them to the hospital for patients to read, or to sell. I have my favourite authors and only tend to buy them.

Elaine Golden (elainegolden) | 4 comments These days, I rarely go to a physical bookstore. I'm an avid ebook reader, so unless I'm picking up a gift for someone, I don't visit brick & mortar stores much.

I subscribe to the Historicals in ebook, and pick up the odd Spice, Presents or Nocturne depending upon what catches my eye.

message 12: by Mombo (new)

Mombo | 8 comments I buy all my series titles at WMT. I don't subscribe because my TBR list would just grow and grow...

If I find a series or author I like I check out the used book stores for back issues.

message 13: by Anita (new)

Anita (yoda4me) Im still debating on subscribing or not. I wish they would give you ALL the titles of the month. :(

message 14: by Mageela (new)

Mageela | 5 comments I buy in store. I love using it as an outing and a present to myself. Sometimes, I sit at local coffee shop crack the book and read. An escape from the world.

message 15: by Destiny (new)

Destiny (ladestinytwilliams) I buy in store. When I was younger I subscribed to the Harlequin Presents line, but I canceled for some reason. I usually buy all of the Harlequin Presents line and I'll pick up some of the historical and others from the other lines. It depends on my mood. I'm really getting interested in the Silhouette Desire Dynasties line right now.

Connie Cox (conniecox) | 6 comments I just bought my last two from Amazon and downloaded straight to my Kindle.

If I'm wandering in Target, or a book store, though, I'll pick up whatever peaks my interest.

So I guess it's Amazon for deliberate buys and brick-and-mortar stores for impulse buys.

Wicked ♥ (Wickedly Bookish Reviews) aka Bat-Jess Hi guys I'm new here!

I recently subscribed to the Historical and Nocturn series, and love it, but I think I'm going to cancel. I went to my local used bookstore that sells and trades paperbacks only and found they have a masive collection of Harlequin everything for a couple bucks a book.

I do like the idea of the subsciption becuase it forces you to try a variety of things. I've read a couple that I wouldn't have normally went for and really enjoyed them. The problem is the monthly bill and like everyone here has said before, the back log.

:-) I'm just glad I tried it out. Love Harlequin!

message 18: by Melise (new)

Melise | 1 comments I subscribe to the Blaze series and get 4 books every month (well 3 books with one being a 2-in1). I used to get the Desire series too but cancelled them when I had a backlog.

Have also bought loads of older books from ebay which happily sit in my bookcase for when I've finished the 4 from M&B each month.

Cynthia Thomason (cynthiathomason) | 6 comments Hi. I'm new here. As an HQ author I have to say it's nice to see that so many of you still direct buy your HQ books. Getting the books mailed to the home is a Harlequin tradition that seems to be slipping in popularity because of e-readers. Any way you get your books is wonderful as far as I'm concerned. I just hope you keep getting them.

Vashti | 10 comments I usu buy direct from the site the ones that I want and the UBS for the ones that I missed.

message 21: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly I've been thinking of subscribing to HQN and I was going to get a subscription of it for my Mother In Law for Christmas but I don't know much how to go about doing so. My grandma used to subscribe but that was about 30 years ago so that won't help me.

message 22: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Marcus | 1 comments I must admit, since I've gotten my Kindle I tend to download my HQN books from Amazon. But I know many people who subscribe to the medical romance line and love getting every book every month.

message 23: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Thomason (cynthiathomason) | 6 comments I just blogged about this today. 28% of all books sold are still sold through brick and mortar stores.

Booklover | 6 comments I buy in store all my books, have never bought any books online, had tried once but did not get the book, also did not get my money back:(

message 25: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Thomason (cynthiathomason) | 6 comments I buy in bookstores for the simple reason I don't want bookstores to go out of business. I urge everyone to buy print books at brick and mortar stores. And while you're there, support the cafe staff and do a little Christmas shopping. If you can't find a book, or for e-books, of course use the online sites. I do both.
