Simple paragraph to describe who you are, what area of Trinidad you are from and what types of books you are interested in. This information will help in getting to know each other, organizing meetings and selecting Group Reads!

My name is Kester and I am a book-aholic! I am originally from Point Fortin but now reside in the Marabella area with my beautiful wife and our gorgeous daughter. An Accountant with a fetish for Philosophy, I am mostly interested in the Classics and Literary Fiction but I read almost anything I can put my hands on!

Bookventures Book Club | 1 comments Hi, My name is Lesley and i am a bibliophile. LOL Am from San Juan and though i work full time, my real job is a book blogger. I don't get much trini visitors on my blog (though now, I'm hoping that this would change) but if you're interesting in checking out my reviews, you can find me here http://bookventuresbookclub.blogspot....

I read any and everything but I'm a History major so i have a soft spot for Historical Fiction.

Keegan B (keeganb) | 3 comments Hello everyone, I'm from St. Joseph. I recently restarted reading a book at least once a month. I'm currently studying Accounting (final yr of ACCA). My key interests are Football (LIVERPOOL FC), playing guitar, swimming, table tennis and running. I'm mostly interested in classic works like Hemingway and Steinbeck, but I do enjoy modern dramatic books like The Kite Runner and Pillars of the Earth.

Irma Rambaran (terraxena) | 1 comments Hi. I'm Irma from Diego Martin and I read just about everything. It's difficult to pinpoint a favourite author but I've got all the John Grishams, the Earl Lovelaces, the Dan Browns and two shelves of murder mysteries - plus a cabinet filled with the classics from the Bronte sisters to Hemingway. Do I love books??? No Kindle for me thank you.

message 6: by Rayhana (new)

Rayhana Ramnarine | 2 comments Hi. My name is Rayhana, I'm from Rio Claro. I love books. They are something of an addiction for me. I read pretty much any genre but I don't favor nonfiction. Some things are just too real for me to deal with. My favorite author list keeps growing. George R.R. Martin. J.R.R. Tolkien, Jane Austen. I have recently been introduced to one of the greatest tales ever woven...the Godfather. How could I have not read this book before now? I am just an eager reader who wants a tale to weave itself into my heart, mind and life.

Mala Hussain | 1 comments Hi, my name is Mala. I have loved reading ever since I was a little girl. I am very open with my reading and love to read things recommended by friends. Last year I decided that every third book I read will be a classic, it's going well so far. Some of my favourite authors are Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Brian Masters and Vikas Swarup.

message 8: by Shennel (new)

Shennel | 1 comments Well Hello! Shennel from Diego here. You know those things people do with smartphones... all connected at the hip. Well that has been my journey with books from childhood. I'm cool with technology and all..kindle and stuff, but there is nothing like the and smell of real a page. Yes i said it. :)) I read just about everything but I love historical fiction, black or African culture based stories and motivational, inspirational reads. My favorite authors are Toni Morrison, Sister Souljah and Andrea Levy. I'm also drawn to V.S. Naipaul and Jane Austen.

message 9: by Nikka (new)

Nikka | 1 comments Hi my name is Nikka from Vistabella. I love books of course! I love literature but only if it's local or Greek mythology. I also love fiction, paranormal and romance. I hate movies from books because they miss almost everything! They anger me! lol
Ummm don't have fav. authors in particular because I can't stick to one kind of writing style and books become predictable. :)

message 10: by Jill (new)

Jill | 2 comments Hi there my name is Jill and I live in Cascade. I am never with out a book and take the opportunity to read "snatches" of my book during the course of the day. Every night I read for at least one hour before bed. My favourite authors are James Patterson, John Grisham, Haruki Murakami, Jamaica Kincaid and Toni Morrison. I have just been introduced to authors like Monique Roffey, Aminatta Forna and Wally Lamb and loving their writings. However I am known to read any author at least once.

message 11: by Hope (new)

Hope McCormick (hopemac) I'm Hope. I live in the US but will be staying in Trinidad (Port of Spain area) in the fall of 2013. I'd appreciate any tips on books I can read before I leave in late August that might help me understand the culture in Trinidad. Thanks!

message 12: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Jacob (goodreadscomcalypsodebbie) | 1 comments I am Debbie Jacob, Guardian columnist and author of eight books mostly published by Macmillans in England. I love Caribbean writers especially Earl Lovelace, Edgar Mittelholzer, Zee Edgell and Olive Senior. My favourite Caribbean writer is Jamaican writer Roger Mais. Betty Peter's children's novel Brown Sugar and Spice are among my favourite books. I'm so glad there's a Trini group of readers.

message 13: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (darkangelheidi) | 2 comments Hey. I'm Heidi originally from Rio Claro but I reside in El Soccorro now. I will read anything that captures my attention in the first few pages. I am not into pure romance novels anymore but a little bit is okay if there is a lot of action. I have just been introduced to Marliss Melton and I absolutely love her SEALs series. Catherine Coulter's FBI series is another of my favorites. Reading, as well as crosswords, are the only things that can get me relaxed. Please, any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

I agree Shennel...nothing like the feel and smell of a page. I love the "traditional form" of reading.

I love to read anything by John Grisham, Eric Jerome Dickey, Mitch Albom, and Terri McMillan. I also like historical non-fiction or fiction about the lives of people who have had major struggles in society. message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary | 3 comments Hello I'm Nicholle from San Fernando. Loved reading from since childhood. I have always walked everywhere with a book. Time should never be wasted sitting in a doctor's office or standing in a bank line when you could be reading. I like historical fiction, human drama, West Indian literature, classics and mystery thrillers. Tried tablet form but still prefer curling up with a paperback.

message 23: by Fiyah (new)

Fiyah Henry (FiyahH) | 2 comments Fiyah Here. San Juan. Musician. Reader. Writer. I'm usually busier than the average teenage girl, always with her head stuck in a book.

message 24: by Dragoness24 (new)

Dragoness24 | 2 comments Hi , I'm from Barataria. I love to read and my fav genres are paranormal romances, urban fantasy, and sci-fi. I'll read some contemporary but it must be very funny. I use to read horror and some westerns but I sort of grew out of that phase. I read a lot of books, which use to cause a problem with storage. But now I have a Kindle and can read as many books as I want whenever I want.

message 25: by Amaara (new)

Amaara | 1 comments Amaara here from San Fernando. I'm always reading multiple books at a time and I'm so glad there is a Trini book group. Love Caribbean poetry and fiction.
