Cathy (misticat57) How many books do you currently have on your Kindle? Are you planning on removing them when you finish or moving them to a memory card?

Valerie | 2 comments I got my Kindle as a birthday gift to myself a week and a half ago and have 15 books on it. Buying new purchases is seductively easy. I also find that I'm reading even faster than normal with this device. I've read five books so far and am half-way through my sixth one. It's addictive...Anyone else have this heightened pleasure/speed-reading phenomenom?

Diane | 1 comments I got my Kindle as a birthday gift from my mom. I've got far too many books on it; it really is addictively easy to download books. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists and holding a book has gotten tough - the Kindle is a joy. I do read more and read faster. I do find that a couple of tricks make things better. Most especially using the on/off switch instead of the "sleep" function; extends that battery life by tenfold and it boots up fast enough that it doesn't make any difference there. I also love emailing myself stuff I've written to be downloaded; free, easy and very cool. Anyone downloading music? Or free books?

Heather (smileyhair) Hi all! I bought myself a Kindle and Im totally addicted! Its very dangerous how quickly I can download books. I probably have about 15 books on there as well... Looking forward to lots more! ;)

Lynn | 10 comments I haven't actually counted the number of books on mine, but my home page is up to 22 pages. I can't wait until Amazon gives us a filing method...when that happens I will put even more books on mine. I love having an entire library with me...I tend to read several books at a time to match different moods. Many of these are free books, but I have also purchased a number of books. I am addicted and I find, Valerie, that I read faster as well. To answer the question in the original post, I delete amazon books I read because they are backed up on my amazon.com account. Others I am keeping on for now, but will ultimately archive them on my computer hard drive when I run out of room. My favorites will stay on indefinitely.

Cillasi | 3 comments My home page is 6 pages long. I also have some audio books in that. I bought a few SD cards and am amazed at how much they hold. Yes, I know that text files don't take up much space, but you don't realize how little "not much" is until you try to fill a 1GB card.

On one SD card, I've archived all my books and on another I've archived all my audiobooks.

I like feedbooks.com for public domain stuff. Their site is easy to navigate and the books are already in kindle format. You can download software from them that allows you to download directly to your kindle through the wireless connection making things very convenient.

I'm really enjoying my Kindle. It was a purchase very well worth my money.

Five pages.

I have an 2.00 GB SD card, but I don't need to use it right now.

Like a few others, I waiting for folders or other filing method before I load up the SD card. I've got enough books from the public domain, Tor and Bean science fiction, other freebies, and whatever else I buy to read a long, long time.

John | 1 comments Hi Everyone,
I think Kindle will do for books what mp3 players and ipods have done for music.

I was please to learn that my HCI Books holiday novel Christmas Gifts, Christmas Voices has just been released in a Kindle edition.

Here's a link to a song I wrote for the book. (The song takes place at an annual Christmas pageant. After Eric, the story's main character, hears it incredible things begin to happen.)

All the best...

Angelica (angelica221) I have many pages on the Kindle. I think I'm in the 20s. I want to say like 22 or 23. I keep a lot of my books on the Mem Card. I find that when I read a book, I prefer to read it on the Kindle rather than a paper book. That would be cool if we could file our books away on it- fiction, nonfiction, horror, sci-fi, that would be cool.

Belinda | 9 comments I'm definitely reading more since getting my Kindle. I don't think I'm actually reading *faster*, per se, but due to just the convenience of the device (I carry it everywhere), I am spending lots of "down time" reading books now.

I hate the cover they provide, so I'm having one designed for me, which I think will make it even easier to carry around!

Ciana | 1 comments I need to start a Kindle anonymous group. My poor credit card is going to melt with all of my purchases. Why does it have to be so easy?: (

message 12: by Belinda (new)

Belinda | 9 comments Just curious--why do so many people store their books on their own hard drives, when Amazon stores them for you in perpetuity free of charge? Do I have that wrong? I just send mine back to Amazon when I'm finished with them. If I need the book again, I just access it again via the content manager, and it's back on the device in seconds.

Am I missing something here?

message 13: by Milt (new)

Milt The only thing I can think of is if you want to keep all your books for reference. Otherwise, I'm not really sure why you wouldn't keep them on Amazon website. Maybe somebody else can answer your question...I'd like to know too.

message 14: by Heather (new)

Heather (smileyhair) I read a lot of books that I dont purchase from Amazon, so I store all mine on an external hard drive, however all the books I purchase directly from Amazon are kept in my media library at Amazon itself... I dont bother backing those up!

Belinda | 9 comments Ah, that I can understand. I don't have anything on mine except Amazon books.

Speaking of which, has everyone seen the list of free books that are available right now under "Kindle News?" There are a couple of really good ones there.

message 16: by Heather (new)

Heather (smileyhair) I did! Charlie Huston has three of his books available for free! He is a great author! ;)

Jane (justjane) | 3 comments Silly question alert - Belinda, how do you "send books back to Amazon" (when finished reading) via the Kindle? I've looked and looked but my poor brain cannot find the answer! Thanking you in advance for help!

You select "content manager" and then from that menu, "remove from device" (or similar wording--I don't have mine in front of me at the moment). It will take the book off your current menu, but it will be stored by Amazon. You can restore it to your Kindle any time by either using content manager or online at Amazon.

I'm wondering if there's a way to sort of organize your books that you're finished with in the content manager, because my content manager is already getting unwieldy.

Jane (justjane) | 3 comments Thank you! Now, is anyone having a delay in downloading their purchased books? I am out of Whispernet territory, but bring it with me (with wireless turned on) and it always downloaded right away. Recently, I'm noticing a pretty long delay - days in some cases!

message 21: by Bradley (new)

Bradley | 1 comments Erm, my book is available on Kindle. I might buy one someday. =)

Christy (krissynae) | 3 comments I have over 90.. most if them are the free books that they have posted. I have only purchased about 12. I have most of the free books on a 1gb digital card.
