Which book did you find mention of this kind of Demon? I will hazard a guess and say that they're all about Passion or Passions. The word "pathos" is Greek and it means "passion". Although it can also be used to refer to things that can cause excitement and suffering.

Loa is implied to be very powerful and her species is shrouded with mystery. Daniella sought her advice when she couldn't find Nix and Nix herself refers to Loa with respect-a fact that is supicious since, hello, Nix is above them all. She's equally respected and feared by The Vertas and The Pravus.The only tidbit of info about her is that she's got a Caribbean accent. I don't know why, but I picture her somewhat like Tia Dalma in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End". A godess trapped in a mortal body.
In voodoo, Loa are spirits that can be asked for help, but must also be treated with respect and appeased with gifts. Isn't Loa supposed to be related to Marie Laveau? If she is one of these spirits, and there are a few, then she would be powerful, and it would make sense she would want to be around for the accession.I don't know how good a theory this is, just what I think.
Also, Holly was called the Vessel for this accession because she would carry a child (or in her case, twins) that would be a force for good or evil, depending on who the father was. If Omort had been the father, then the child would have been evil, but luckily, Cadeon beat him in that regard, and their babies will be forces for good within the Vertas
I reread Untouchable while looking for clues about Loa and I came across Jadian the cold, now king of the Icere. Interesting character. Sordid secrets, tragedies in his past, betrayal and slaying of a king under his belt, not to mention icy cool looks. What more could we ask of an immortal male? Cole has littered her books with all kinds of great characters but then forgotten to pick them up. Pity.
Does anyone have an updated character list?! After reading "Shadow's Seduction", I was having a heck of a time trying to remember the past story details! I'm fearful of the "Wicked Abyss" release! lol
