... what? Will they be "books" at all? Will they be social networks, or holograms, or VR experiences implanted into our brains? What signs of change do you see "on the ground" today to support your prediction?

Chris Bowsman Ebooks are gonna the the thing for a long time, and will follow whatever technology iPods employ. By that, I mean if people listen to music and check their email on a pocket sized device, lots will read that way, too. If they do these things via heads-up-display glasses, they'll read this way as well.

I'm still pretty skeptical about the idea of any of these things "killing" print, though. I think it's gonna be many generations down the line before actual books aren't available.

Adam Gurri (adamgurri) | 1 comments My opinion: in the future, the word "book" is going to be antiquated. There will just be fiction--short form or long form, Speculative fiction or romance or literary.

The form it takes will be digital. It will format to fit on your computer screen, your mobile, and any screen size in between.

And yes, I think print will become either completely nonexistant, or so small a niche market as to be in the same category as the t-shirts that webcomic artists sell to make their living.
