I didn't pick anything up at the library Thursday, instead I used my time to see if they had any of the books I had found through goodreads. I love scanning the computer there to see what they have. Sometimes they have the author and different books.

I need to finish a few more before I check anymore out. I've grounded myself. Snicker....har har

I went to the library with a list of 20 titles. They didn't have 1/2 of what I wanted, but as you can see, I compensated!! I'm terrible when I go there...I always come home with so many. My husband says I am a book hoarder...I take too many & won't let anyone else have them...that is SOOOO not true!! LOL

I'm a book hoarder and a bookaholic.... Yes...I admit it!

Admitting you have a problem is the 1st step...LOL

No Time for Goodbye

Yes, because Ginger recommended and raved about it, I searched for it last night at the library. I am proud to say I only got this one book and then I promptly sat down and read for an hour and half on my title The Brass Verdict. :o)

I read the first chapter of the book on Friday at work and it seems pretty good so far, but I need to finish other titles before I dive into it.

:o)

It was a quiet 10 minutes when I got to read..... I wish I could just sit at my desk, answer phones, do subscriptions at the counter and read all day.... What a great job that would be!!!

Dang being an office manager/accounting employee is busy work... LOL!!!!

Library time tonight will be returning several books... from me and the kids. I won't get there before it closes.... unless I get Josey to leave sooner... Hmmmmm

message 14: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Maybe you can get Miss Josey to leave a bit earlier. But then again, maybe if you go after it closes, you won't be tempted to check anything out...LOL!

Yeah, I just dropped off the finished titles.... We had Jacob after school so I couldn't leave until he was gone.

:o)

I went Thursday.... Sat and read my book for a 1/2 hour til it closed. Before that I was at Pizza Ranch with my book eating dinner. ;o)

I picked up at the Avoca Public Library this past Wednesday:

Insatiable
Lisa Black- 2 books by her but I may have one that is not in order now... Crud! I think I have Takeover... Will look again when I get home.

Similar author to Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell

message 18: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments It's been awhile since I've gone to the library...sigh....maybe next week....

I'm okay with the two books by Lisa Black. Whewwww, I have book 1 and 2 in the series.

Can't wait to dive into them as she writes similar to Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell.

Ginger | 450 comments I have decided to get my butt in gear & go to the library tomorrow!! YEA!! It's been weeks (or even a month!) since I've been. I have placed quite a few books on hold...most they have and a few I will have to wait a few days due to the copies being at other branches.
I'm really excited to be going. I have anxiety and it's been getting worse lately. I've been taking my meds (no! I'm not crazy! LOL), but the anxiety has gotten so bad, I haven't left the house in almost a week & only then to run & get milk. Sad, isn't it?? I never thought it would get this bad. Oh well, what can you do, right? Just keep your fingers crossed for me...I want to go to the library & spend some time, not just run in, grab my books and leave! :)

message 21: by Ginger (last edited Feb 18, 2012 08:50AM) (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Well, my New Year's resolution went out the window today...LOL....so much for staying away from the library & reading what I have on hand. I'm actually proud of myself for staying away this long!
Here's what I brought home today (and I still have 3 or 4 they are getting from other branches):
The House At Riverton- Kate Morton
The Book of Bright Ideas- Sandra Kring
The Accidental Tourist
In The Woods- Tana French
Not My Daughter- Barbara Delinsky
Gone For Good- Harlan Coben
I think this should keep me busy for awhile! :)
I ended up just running in, picking up my books & then back home. Hubby is making biscuits & sausage gravy!! :)

message 22: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I am just like you, when I go to the library I go crazy. It's like walking into a candy store...everything looks so tempting. If only I could get paid for just reading books LOL. It looks like you got quite variety of books so that's a plus :)

message 23: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Sandy, that's the same thing the young lady said to me when she checked me out...LOL...variety!!
We spoke briefly about Linwood Barclay. He is one of her favorite authors. I guess I'm all set for the nor'easter which will be here tomorrow. Lots of rain & wind & possible snow tomorrow night. We got a dusting last weekend, so I'm keeping fingers crossed for more than a mere dusting!! :)

message 24: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Went back to the library today to pick up the holds they had ready for me....

The Snow Child- Eowyn Ivey
Indelible- Karin Slaughter
The Kitchen Daughter- Jael McHenry
The Witch Doctor's Wife- Tamar Myers
Anyone But You- Jennifer Cruise

message 25: by Sandy (new)

Sandy You went back again today?? Ha! That brings a smile to my face. I really enjoy looking at your variety. Although, I went on a Amazon used book shopping trip today....something must be in the air.

message 26: by Ginger (last edited Feb 20, 2012 05:01PM) (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Sandy, yep! Went back again today....but the only reason why I did is to pick up the books which came from the other branches. Our branch only gives you 3 days to pick them up, hence the mad dash.....LOL
PS. Glad I brought a smile to your face! :)

message 27: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Well....what did you buy?? Aren't you going to share the list? LOL

The Book of Bright Ideas is A FAB book! I have it on my Kindle!!! Loved it!!!

Let me know how you like Kate Morton's book. I need to read another by her. :o)

message 29: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I might read one of those titles next since I'm almost done w/Gone For Good. I did get one (The Snow Child) which I have to return in 14 days cuz it's a new one. Decisions, decisions...LOL
I'll let you know about them when I'm done.

message 31: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Great List Sandy!! Looks like you enjoy variety as well!! :)

We have both books in the Al Capone series. Pretty cool

I want to suggest Those Who Save Us for the Harlan book club

message 33: by Sandy (new)

Sandy The kids at school love the Capone books so for 44 cents, what the heck. My father-in-law was a prisoner of war so reading about the war,I can relate more to all the stories he tells. This one looks really good- I get sucked into them. The one by the doctor I read was terrible but so true.

message 34: by Sandy (last edited Mar 04, 2012 09:34AM) (new)

Sandy I went to the library and got the rest of the Lisa Black's books that I put on hold (thank you very much!)Trail of Blood , Evidence of Murder: Theresa MacLean Series, Book 2 I also got Burnout. I picked up my first (yes my first book on CD) Bog Child. Then because Ginger got me hungry this weekend, I picked up The Kitchen Daughter. They also had The Girl Who Played With Fire for a 1.00 so I bought that. Yeah, it was a good day! I'm anxious to see if I like the books on CD - will they talk to slow for me? Ha

message 35: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Geez...why do I get blamed for it? lol
I could get you hungry by telling you what I'm making today, but I'm not going to...so there! LOL
Enjoy your books!! :)

message 36: by Sandy (new)

Sandy Does it have something to do with the book? LOL I have half a dish of brownies left. Brownies for breakfast today - man, I am weak. My cat even likes them. Ok....whatcha making?.....you got me

message 37: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments We have brownies left over as well. Surprised they haven't vanished by now...LOL....I'm making 2 quiches today...one brocolli & one spinach...both with ham. Was going to make a dessert, but with the brownies still left over, it would be too much.

Love in a Nutshell

and a movie based on the book I read last year: Sarah's Key

message 40: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Well, I decided to go to the library today. This was my 2nd or 3rd trip in a couple of weeks. To be fair, on my last visit, I picked 3 books for hubby and ONLY 1 for me..LOL. He's really getting into reading again. I was really proud of myself this summer. I concentrated on reading books I own or have on my Kindle and didn't go to the library from June to late August!
I picked up these:
The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney (last visit)
Cypress Point by Diane Chamberlain
The Crossroads Cafe by Deborah Smith
Mother of Pearl by Melinda Haynes
Friendship Bread by Darien Gee

I have been using the library weekly.... I just forget to post my books I pick up!

Here are a couple:

A Bad Day for Prettyby Sophie Littlefield Loving it! Read the first book in the series and it rocked! A Bad Day for Sorry

Remember Whenby J.D. Robb
Mockingbirdby Kathryn Erskine

message 42: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments Yesterday I took 4 books back which I completed and left with 3 more! Why, oh why did I have to browse?? I should've just returned the books & went straight out the door. Oh well, I'm addicted, what can I say?! Here's what I picked up:
Sisters by Danielle Steel, Broken by Karin Slaughter, and The Christmas Wedding by James Patterson. Talk about variety! LOL
It's been literally YEARS since I read anything by Danielle Steel and I'm curious to know if her style has changed at all. Karin Slaughter---well, I love her! I only have about 3 (maybe 4) books left in the series and I'll be sad when I'm all caught up. I just hope she continues to write about Will Trent. As for the Patterson book, I love his works as well and I grabbed this one on a whim. :)

Yeah..... I know!!!! No time with soccer and football.... Been reading though.... cause I have a million books already out from the library.... just can't sit down and relax at the library.

message 46: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I ran up to the library this morning. You know it's bad when I don't drive in snow (makes me too nervous) but I made a quick trip to the library. They were holding this one for me: Cemetery Girl by David J. Bell

I'm hoping to stop at both libraries today or tomorrow.... I have a list of books I want to give the Harlan lunch club to choose for the future reads and I need to see what the new book is since I couldn't make the meeting this month.

:o)

I'm also hoping to drop off 2 books to one library..... Better get reading huh???!!! :o0

message 48: by Sandy (new)

Sandy I never have good luck when I go to the library with a list. Everything seems to be gone. I am better off trying to reserve them and then stopping in and just picking up stuff off the shelf. I love the new release shelves.

I didn't go and I always find something.... Still need to finish 3 library books.

message 50: by Ginger (new)

Ginger | 450 comments I need to finish my current one from the library & I have 3 more sitting on my night stand. I've renewed 3 of them once already so I need to get my rear in gear & read them. I'm not sure if I can renew them again..but the head librarian likes me (we always discuss what I check out), so she might let me. :)
