Melinda (melindaparmer) | 123 comments Now that the AAR Top 100 has been posted (yay!) I am feeling the need for our own list... or 2.

Your Top 10 Romance Audiobooks - and narrator counts, because if you liked the book but not the audiobook, it should not be included!! I'd say Top 100 but that would be a stretch for me.

Audiobooks from the AAR Top 100
it's morning and I'm not clear whether my brain means just a list of which in the new Top 100 have audiobooks, or which in the Top 100 are your favorite audiobooks. maybe later it will explain. I'll share.

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) And I think I might look at those audios from the Top 100 and see what I may have missed. I'm checking that list and will return with a few titles.

We also will conduct a formal Favorite Audios poll in the Spring at SOA.

Melinda (melindaparmer) | 123 comments yay! I've read all but 7 or so on the new list, but I haven't annotated yet which by ear and which by eye.

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) I just tweeted this

"Speaking of Audio Goodreads group is trying to determine how many of AAR's Top 100 Romances are available in audio "

Why don't we list those we find that surprise us? And we can also make an educated guess as to the number on the Top 100 that are available on audio.

Sorry Melinda - I don't mean to take over your thread! Does this fit in with your original purpose?!

And here's a link to the poll:

MaryK | 168 comments That might be a use for a group bookshelf - a shelf for audios corresponding to the Top 100 list?

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) I counted 60 audibooks in the Top 100 - a very quick count. I included two Kleypas books that are scheduled for release this month and some hard-to-finds. How many did others come up with?

MaryK - when I begin refining our group's bookshelf, I'll remember this! I plan to have a number of categories within our shelf.

message 7: by Melinda (new)

Melinda (melindaparmer) | 123 comments no,you didn't threadjack! I was just loving the new Top 100 and thinking, hey we need our own lists! I'll go through it again and see if you missed any audio. 60 is a lot!

message 8: by Brenda (last edited Dec 23, 2010 04:53AM) (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Wow Melinda, you've read all but 7 of them?? How many of those did you really like?

After a closer, and I think complete look, there are 61 books from the top 100 available as audio books.

Three of which (all McNaughts) are in abridged formats only.

message 9: by Lea's Audiobooks (last edited Dec 07, 2010 03:29PM) (new)

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) I'm going to post the 60 I found and let's put our lists together, okay? I didn't count the abridged McNaughts that TSTBren found and I'm not absolutely sure all of these books on my list are (or were) available in audio.
I'll start working on my list.

message 10: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments The 3 McNaught's from the top 100 list are all available used through Amazon for under $10.00.

Paradise:
narrated by Lisa Eichhorn - 2 cassettes - 3 hrs

Perfect:
narrated by Kim Cattrall - 2 Cassettes - 3 hrs

Something Wonderful - 1 cassette - 90 minutes. The whole book condensed down to 90 minutes??

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) TSTBren - I didn't mean to infer that I wondered if all of the McNaughts were available. I meant that I didn't know if all on MY list were actually available on audio. I didn't state that clearly at all! I don't ever doubt your audio facts - for sure. I've edited that post to hopefully make my intended thoughts clear.

In saying that, please let me know if I have included on my list something that is not available in audio (or was at one time).

message 13: by Brenda (last edited Dec 07, 2010 04:21PM) (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments I was actually surprised the other McNaughts weren't available on audio, even if just abridged.

The only other two I found are:

Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation ... in GERMAN!

Kleypas's Where Dreams Begin but not until Oct 2011

So neither really count. :)

I've decided that since Landor and Flosnick are the go to girls for historical romance right now that I can wait for my favorite Loretta Chase's!

I shudder at the thought of either one of them getting their hands (voices) on Rupert, Benedict or Sebastian!

Edited to add ... Or Hoyt's Prince series!

message 14: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments My question now is which of these are Hard To Find or if they can be found are outrageously priced?

Those of us that have some of them could do a round robin type of deal maybe?

message 15: by Lea's Audiobooks (new)

Lea's Audiobooks Hensley (leahensleysaudiobooks) TSTbren - are you talking about loaning these Hard to Finds to each other? I'm assuming you are talking about something other than cassette tape format? If that is your thought, why don't we start a new thread on this?

message 16: by Barbie (new)

Barbie | 24 comments I want to comment that SEP's New book I m excited ! I heard the first Chapter and It was good. I really cant wait to see how Meg deals with problems and I see how sees she looks at Ted. He is a little too perfect. I mean what can unravel a person better than being left at the altar?

I hope that Lucy's story is a road trip type story .

message 17: by Mary (new)

Mary (maryvirgee) | 3 comments I have to jump in on this conversation..I am an auidobook lover... and I would love to have that list y'all are combining.

I own several of these books and I have downloaded several from my local library. I just hate filtering through the titles only to find out it isn't offered in audio.

message 18: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Mary the list of books that can be found in audio from AAR's top 100 is also the topic in the latest Speaking of Audiobooks column.

If you haven't checked it out yet here's a link:

paula (paula_) | 212 comments I see Ransom by Julie Garwood listed here. I have been searching for Ransom on Audio. Can you please let me know whereto find it. Thanks!

message 20: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Ransom, in the unabridged format, is one of the "Hard to Find" audiobooks. It's narrated by Paula Parker and eBay or Amazon's used department is going to be your only avenue, unless you have an awesome public library near you.

This is definitely a book Audible, or any other publisher, needs to be searching for the digital rights to.

paula (paula_) | 212 comments Great list - it's so nice having the audios identified here! So, it's no wander I feel like I am running out of great books choices. I have listened to 40 (& read 8).

A few I haven't yet listened to & would love to hear your thoughts on are:

Open Season & To Die For by Linda Howard
What Happens in London by Julia Quinn
More Thank a Mistress by Mary Balough
Devil's Club by Georgette Heyer
Angel's Blood by Nalini Singh
Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas

message 23: by Brenda (last edited Apr 25, 2011 08:22AM) (new)

Brenda Audiobooks Only | 631 comments Paula the top 100 list is full of great listens but be sure and check the What Are You Listening To thread for current highly recommended listens.

My two cents from your list...

Angel's Blood is, and will remain, an all time favorite audiobook.

I actually enjoyed the abridged version of Open Season more than the unabridged. Better narration IMHO and the abridgment was perfectly done.

I can now listen to and enjoy To Die For. I go in knowing I'm going to get an overly done Southern accent for Blair and just enjoy the humor, and Wyatt!

You can also use the "search discussion posts" search box at the top of the page if you're looking for info on a particular book or author. I think I remember some Balogh and Heyer books being discussed at some point.

Brittany B. (benoibe) | 310 comments Lea et all:
Where can I find Mr. perfect? Also Ransom and The Secret by Garwood is on you list but I can't find it. Similarly, I don't have a tape player, so anything available on tape is out for me.
I would love to listen to Judith Mcnaught. So many books that are on the 100 top books are missing in audio.

message 28: by Ancientpeas (new)

Ancientpeas | 301 comments Mr. Perfect is newly (relatively speaking) available at audible.com. I have it but I have no idea if audiobooks are lendable or not.

Maybe Lea or Brenda know if they are lendable. I assume it's a DRM thing.
