I find the magic system in Mistborn fascinating.

I didn't take me long to figure out that there have to be 12 metals not 10 but that didn't detract in any way from learning about Allomancy as it unfolded. I'd like to know more about ferumancy as I like the idea of holding one's power in metals ...

But, what are your thoughts on these two systems and who they were used in the books?

I thought allomancy very interesting too. It is very novel; I can't think of anything quite like it in another book. I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the idea of controlling people's emotions. It seems so...sneaky. At least if someone is a bad ass warrior and is flying through the air, you know it up front.

I agree; unique and interesting magic systems. I think it is what fascinated me most with these books. It led me to devour the second book of the series and I'm halfway through the third now. :)

For the emotional aspect, Breeze was confronted with exactly that argument (in the second book I think) and while it isn't perfect, it does flesh it out a bit and made me more comfortable with that aspect.

Ferumancy gets a bit more attention in the second book, but Allomancy remains the prominent system.

I'm glad this book made it to the list. I'd been wanting to read Sanderson for a while, but not sure when I would have gotten around to it. I've really enjoyed this series.

I prefer my sci-fi books without the fantasy, and thought that Sanderson's use of magic was perfect for my taste. It was more scientific and more grounded in reality, which appealed to me very much. To be sure, there are fantastical elements, but I don't need an explanation for everything.

I was very intrigued and pleased by his use of allomancy. Read all three books and eager for more!
