Lulliannie (lullisbooks) I was thinking that when we finish Breaking Dawn, we could start talking about it here for a while so that we don't ruin it for people who haven't read it. So this discussions will start August 2nd, whoever finishes can talk about the book here. ONLY READ THIS DISCUSSION IF YOU FINISHED READING BREAKING DAWN.

Cheyenne | 10 comments Ok. Im done. I love love love love love it!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love how bella combined names for Nessies names. Sooooo cute. I cant beleive Jake imprinted on Nessie. Yeayyyyy Ms. Cullen!!!!
I loved at the end when Bella "switched frequencies" so edward could read her mind. That was so sweet. I still cant beleive that we were so wrong about Bella's power. Though if you think about it, we should have figured it out.
I love Breaking Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 3: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa | 1 comments Okay, I haven't read it yet, so I'm trying hard not to read yours. But I did get the book last night and couldn't even start because the book was missing the first chapter. It wasn't ripped out, it just was never put it. Waiting for the store to open...

message 4: by Lo (new)

Lo Just finished reading it. Loved the ending but I almost feel like I'm missing something :( I wish there was more of and end "tie" (kinda like Harry Potter where Rowling ties all the loose ends in that very last chapter).

I'm also wondering about the Volturi threat. It's plain that it isn't over... Argh!

Still though, all in all, it was a damn good ending!

message 5: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 03, 2008 09:37AM) (new)

I am changing my comment, because after having a day or so to mull things over, I've decided that "Breaking Dawn" was a big dissapointment for me. Maybe my expectations were just too high. It really felt forced and hurried and I think it would have been better if it had been only half as long. The things I did like were Bella and Jacob. I thought their characters were much better in this book. And I am glad that Bella and Edward got married without anything getting in the way and that she did turn into a vampire. I did like the power she had. Even though I am left a bit confused about the whole pregnancy thing (I thought Vampires couldn't have kids??), I am glad that Jacob could finally imprint on someone and that he and Bella could finally have the relationship they were meant to have. All in all, this book was just ok and I liked it fine, but by no means was it amazing or the best book in the series for me.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, also, I agree with you, Lauryn! All those loose ends need to be tied up!

message 7: by Mandelyn (new)

Mandelyn I agree and disagree with the loose ends. On one hand, I feel like everything was wrapped up too neatly with one pretty bow - I guess I should be happy that Bella, Edward, AND Jacob get to live happily ever after. On the other hand, it feels like the story was left open on purpose. I wonder if Meyers plans on writing more books about these characters but from another perspective. I can totally see a book from Nessie's point of view coming out in a few years. Maybe she'll take on the Volturi?

message 8: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 03, 2008 09:29AM) (new)

I did think of that too. A sure possibility I would say! Didn't she say somewhere that this was the last book written from Bella's perspective?

message 9: by Maagzers (new)

Maagzers (soccerfreak) | 3 comments wow.

message 10: by Mandelyn (new)

Mandelyn I was also disappointed. I figured I didn't like to as much because the tone changed when it was written from Jacob's perspective. I read Meyer's tidbit on her website that was also from Jacob's perspective and I didn't like that either. But also - alot of Bella's story read like a movie montage, the whole first section actually. AND . . . I was totally bummed that there wasn't more action. Maybe the pregnancy was supposed to read more intense than it did - I really wasn't expecting a pregnancy. I'm going to read it again and see if I still feel let down.

message 11: by Lo (last edited Aug 02, 2008 06:43PM) (new)

Lo Mandelyn, I really hope you're right about another possible book from Renesmee's point of view. That would definitely make it a million times better. There's still the matter of Jacob having imprinted on her and the other half-breed, Nehuel (i think that was his name?), who might want to challenge that.

Fingers crossed!

**edit**

I'm also kinda hoping for something from Leah. I feel kinda bad that she was just left out. I honestly thought something was going to happen to make her happier in this book, possibly her imprinting on someone.

message 12: by Danell (new)

Danell I just finished it, and I can't really sum up my feelings just yet. I liked it, but I don't know if i'm totally satisfied. The pregnancy totally took me by surprise and I almost feel as if the imprinting was a bit predictable. I just don't know right now. HOWEVER, I LOVED the wedding scene, their honeymoon, Bella's first night as a vamp and the ending...I wanted to cry during most of these moments/chapters.

message 13: by Sella (last edited Aug 02, 2008 09:14PM) (new)

Sella Malin I loved Breaking Dawn!! I think it was amazing. The best of the series, definitely, and maybe even the best book I've ever read!! It was so exciting and heart-racing and stunning!! I loved how everything was so unexpected. I would never have guessed the things that Meyer came up with, but I loved them all the same!! Bella's power is so cool. I love Renesmee, she's so sweet! I'm glad that Bella can have both Edward and a child. When I first found out that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee I got SO mad, but then now I realize it's a good thing.

It's funny...before I read Breaking Dawn, I really really really hated Jacob. Now I like him, as a friend. It's weird how the book changed my view of him. Maybe because he grew up a bit and is nicer, or maybe because looking through his eyes makes me see him differently. I liked how we got to see Jacob's perspective in the middle.

I love Bella being a vampire!! I feel like she was meant to all along. And I'm glad she's able to keep her connection to Charlie!! I think the reason that she doesn't have to go through the newborn stage is because she KNEW she was going to become a vampire, she wanted to, and she was prepared for it. All the others had no idea that they're going to. And that's why she still has the same human mind.

I love the ending, it was so perfect...*sighs dreamy sigh*

There's just one thing that confuses me a bit. It's been bugging me the whole book...how was Bella able to conceive a child from Edward if he has no sperm??????

Also, I didn't really get the whole scene in their honeymoon, after Bella finds out she's pregnant, and the South American woman gets all freaked out and starts shouting at Edward in that different language...what was the "alien language" that they were speaking? And why did the woman say "Morte" while she touched Bella's swollen stomach? I know it means "death," but it doesn't really make sense why she said that...and what was she shouting about, and what was Edward pleading about...? :-/

Oh yeah and one more thing...I heard that Meyer based the Breaking Dawn plot loosely on the plot of Shakespeare's A Mid Summer Night's Dream. I know the Mid Summer Night's Dream plot, but I didn't really see any shadow of that in Breaking Dawn...can someone tell me how??

message 14: by Cheyenne (new)

Cheyenne | 10 comments I totaly aggree with you sella on Jacob. I think its good that he imprinted on Nessie. She will be the safest "kid" in the world.

I havnt read Midsummer nights dream, but i loosly know the plot. Breaking dawn wasnt anything like what i know of the actual play.

The alian languige i think was portugese. I think the lady said Morte because she had guessed about what edward was and what had happened to bella. Im sure she knew the stories about how the mothers died. Thats why she said death. (at least in my opinion.)

Loved the end when Bella let edward into her mind, just for a second even. So sweet.
(Sigh.....)

message 15: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) I loved it! I think that most people had their own theories in their mind and obsessed about it for so long that they expected it to turn out how they saw fit. I loved that it was unexpected and fast paced. I loved that Bella became a vampire and had a baby. There were so many people wondering if Bella would be missing out on having children but Stephanie created a perfect way to fix that. I love that Jacob was finally happy. I think it was perfect. How could the loose ends not be tied up?? CHarlie, Jacob, Billy, Edward, the rest of the Cullens?? I think it's pretty obvious. The Volturi seem to be something that people are worried about but remember that they aren't stupid enough to try and destroy all of them knowing the bond they have and Bellas power (which I love by the way) and even though the Volturi can be bad they also govern the vampire world so it doesn't get out of control so i think they are a necessary evil. I admit that the whole story took me by surprise also but Stephanie is an amazing writer and I think she did the book just right. I'd like to see how any of you thought it should be written?? WHat would you have done differently. She gave everyone what they wanted. Edward and Bella together, Jacob happy, a baby, bella a vampire. What more could anyone want?? I thought she did a brilliant job and I'd read it over and over agin.

message 16: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Sella, it explains about how Bella could get pregnant in the story. Women's bodies need to change in order to have a baby. They have to grow and change and all of that. When they become a vampire, their bodies can't ever alter again. But men don't change when they conceive a child and they don't change when they become a vampire. It even talks about the old legends about the succubus (if you don't know the stories it explains just a little bit in the book). The legends had said that vampires seduced humans and they were able to plant their seed but because the babies would take so much from the bodies that it would end up killing them both. I also agree with you Sella that the ending was sooo sweet. Showing him how she had felt through her human experience with him was perfect :)

message 17: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) ALSO- I think that everyone should go back and read it a 2nd time at least. I know I read through it pretty fast and probably missed a lot not to mention I was expecting something different so I didn't really get to apppreciate it as much as I would have If I had taken my time. I was just so anxious to see how it ended. I think that if most of you read it again slower this time you'd be able to appreciate it more now that you know the direction she took the story in.

message 18: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) SELLA- Sorry I got the name of the legend wrong it't not the legend of the succubus but the INCUBUS. Look it up in Wikipedia and it will explain :) But of course Edward is not a demon (at least not to me lol) But that might be what the lady thought in Rio, that he was a demon and he inpregnated her with a creature that will be an incubus sucking the life out of the mother.

message 19: by Armina (new)

Armina ok, i have A LOT to say, so this will be long.

1.) I loved it that Bella had a baby. I was so surprised!! It very unexpected, and it added a twist to the story, and I just liked that part.
2.) I loved how Jacob and Edward became very good friends in the end
3.) I loved how Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. I was laughing so hard when Bella starts yelling at him. I thought it was very necessary for Jacob to imprint, and I loved how it happens right after he goes looking for someone in the city. I loved how Bella can love Jacob just like they were meant to love each other (as family).
4.) I liked part of the book in Jacob's perspective. We wouldn't really know what happened while Bella was unconscious, or sick, becuase it would be boring just talking about the inside of the Cullen's house, and Edward's depression if it was in Bella's perspective. We got the perfect amount of seeing how Edward reacted to Renesmee killing Bella through Jacob's perspective.
5,) i don't think stephenie should have said anythihng about leah running away with jacob and stuff if she wasn't going to explain anything more about leah. she did say how leah was happy to finally not hear sams thoughts and stuff, but still... that loose end was not REALLY tied up.
6.) I loved how Bella can shield people. Her power was what i expected (shielding) and it's amazing!! I love how she gave Edward a glimpse of her mind in the end
7.) I wish we could have gotten more of a feel of Edward being fatherly. I don't we got that feeling too much.
8.) I didn't like Edward's initial reaction when they realize Bella is pregnant. He says something like "We'll get that thing out of you." I don't think that was Edward-like AT ALL. He would never say that!!! It's his daughter!! He should have been elated and he should have immediately loved his daughter. His reaction just confused me.
9.) Even though Rosalie was helping Bella, I didn't like her attitude. I don't know why she didn't care about Bella dying as long as the baby was ok. Ya, she would be like that, but in Twilight. Not BD. In Eclipse, she started being a little more understanding about Bella when she talked to her about why she thinks Bella should stay human. But in Breaking Dawn, it seemed like that was totally forgotten.
10.) I loved that one part in the middle when it was just talking about Bella's normal life as a vampire (before Alice had the vision that the Volturi were coming). I loved the first hunting trip. I loved how Bella had to much self control. BUT, I think that that part should have been in the end. Everything was tense with Bella's pregnancy, and then it suddenly slows down. And then it starts again with the Volturi. I think we should have known about Bella's life as a vamp as an ending to the series.
11.) I'm so happy Charlie found out!!! I don't think Bella's life would have been happy without him having some kind of explanation, however small it is.

I probably have a lot of other things to say, but I can't think of them at the moment. I was a little bit disappointed with BD. I loved it, but there were things I didn't like, and I thought I was going to like everything. Overall, I loved it, but I can't call it my favorite book of the series. Sorry that this is so long... I'm the first person of my friends that has finished it, and so I can't talk to anybody about it yet.

Ashlyn (goodreadscomprofileashlyne) | 13 comments ok, i havent finished breaking dawn yet but i have to know, i just started book 2 and i NEED to know if bella is really pregnant! please tell me!

message 21: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Yeah I agree Minnie about the Edward thing. I was kind of upset that he wasn't as happy about Bella being pregnant but I can see why he was like that and why he reacted like that. He had never heard of it happening and what he did hear was about the Incubus (and all those legends say how the mother is sucked lifeless and the baby is a monster. I'd be freaked out too!! Especially if my fears were confirmed and the baby was killing her. I agree also that I think Edward should have gotten some more "daddy" time. I think that would have been sooo cute :)

message 22: by Maagzers (new)

Maagzers (soccerfreak) | 3 comments i know seriously.
i mean doesnt he realize that that would hurt bella? it might hurt her feelings mabye??
if he didnt care the least he could do is keep it to himself?
AND how the heck wuld they
"get it out of her" without the baby being born?
oh well.
i still like edward im just surprised.

message 23: by Nessiebear (new)

Nessiebear I love love love love love love LOVED breaking dawn. I thought it was really good, I loved Nessie and I loved her full name. Renesmee Carlie Culllen :) So adorable! Anyway, I found it really good...but I feel like I need another book! Already! I really hope she changes her mindnad writes a 5th because I want Bella to begin her greatness in her immortal life and face the Volturi again! Its obvious the fight is not over! So Stephanie Meyer should write a 5th book to go along :)

message 24: by Nessiebear (new)

Nessiebear LOL nice one Jaycey. I just want Stephanie to continue the series...I want her to continue fighting the Volturi!

message 25: by Janepage (new)

Janepage I loved the book! It was amazingly good. I cried at some parts it was so emotional! I just wonder how it would look as a movie?

message 26: by Lynn (last edited Aug 03, 2008 09:29PM) (new)

Lynn | 34 comments I loved the book. I found closure in it as far as Bella and Edward go, and that was all I wanted-them together and happy. I wasn't for Jacob imprinting on Nessie at first, because you know-he has kissed her mom and had sexy thoughts,ha-but I felt that it was the best way to clarify why Jacob and Bella had had such a strong relationship, but at the same time Bella never wanted Jacob like that. I love Bella the vampire, and the side of Edward that we get to see without him having to be so protective together. I finally felt in this book that they not only should be together because that was what I wanted, but that they belonged together and were perfect. AND I REALLY THINK if Meyer continues writing about the characters, she should write a book about Nessie and Jacob, from Renesme's point of view (I dont' know why I am calling her Nessie, really don't like the name after Bella mentioned the Loch Ness monster allusion). I mean it is going to be interesting to see how they work out, him being a werewolf and her a vampire. I am glad we got some explanation for why Jacob's tribe 'shifts,' this explains the not mentioning of other werewolves before now, cause they aren't truly that. SO GLAD EDWARD AND BELLA's sex life is what she wanted, although I could have had a little more detail-but I am 21 and probably would not want that for anyone under 16 to read. SOMETHING ELSE I WOULD LOVE is an explanation about Marcus, and why he looks so bored all the time, gotta be some reason (Caius and Aro surely do enjoy their power), maybe it is because his mate is dead. I think if Meyer does write a book from Nessie's perspective, I would be thrilled cause we would see happy Bella and Edward-kinda like Esme and Carlisle, I could do without anymore of their drama since BD-and I think Nahuel would possibly give Jacob a run for his money, which I would like to see how Jacob handles after having pestered Edward and Bella for so long ALTHOUGH HE WAS CLEARLY NO COMPETITION. I know Meyer couldn't have pleased everyone, and she surely did give us all something unexpected in a hybrid baby, but you can not please everyone, and I am sure happy about the outcome, the wrapup, and that is enough for me. I guess it is not like we can really know what happened between Edward and Bella-put a final cap on their story, because they are Immortal. And I would rather never know than have them end :) Kudos Meyer!

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, I did pay attention and I understand that apparently a human and vampire can have a baby. I just meant that I thought it was pretty understood that even a vampire creating a child was out of the question. Being frozen in time and all, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I am glad that so many of you are so pleased with this book. If it made you happy, that is great. For me, it just wasn't enough and that is that. I don't even know exactly what I was expecting, but whatever it was, wasn't there. I don't hate the book or think that Meyer's is a bad writer, I just don't think it was at all amazing or her best, but it was still good and I did enjoy reading it.

message 28: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 34 comments Jewels, I gotta argue that Bella was more 'true Bella' as a vampire than she was as a human; she was a better version of herself, and it shows in her confidence and Edward's confidence in her. She was never complete and happy as a human, and she was oh so complete and happy as a vampire.

message 29: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 34 comments I agree that the fight with the Volturi is not over, but I think that will have more to do with a grown Nessie and Jacob than Bella and Edward. Nessie has got to come into her powers and into her own self, much like her mom did. I need a book on Nessie, I can't exactly understand how she is going to work being half/half. I know Nahuel lived to be so old, and his and Ness' skin is a lot tougher but they are not quite immortal.

message 30: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Alexis, so basically Edward still has his sperm inside him, because his body never changed? Okay that makes sense.

And yeah, I always do that- I re-read Harry Potter seven because the first time I read it, I was speeding through it, same with Breaking Dawn. So I'm going to re-read it, more slowly.

Still a few more things...

1. If the alien language was Portuguese, why did Meyer say "alien language" and not just Portuguese? It's obviously something different then what the lady was speaking before. So what language was it??

2. Does anyone know why Meyer called it Breaking Dawn...? Just curious...

3.Maybe it was referenced to Mid Summer Night's Dream because Jacob and Edward loved Bella (Lycander and Demetrius loved Hestia) and then Jacob loved Renesmee instead (Demetrius was put under a spell to love Helena instead.) But still, it's only part of the Mid Summer plot...

Lynn, I agree, Bella was more herself as a vampire than a human.

Yeah a book about Renesmee, or from her view, would be awesome!! It's just a bit weird that she may be kissing the same person her mother kissed before...I don't like the nickname Nessie. I got mad when Bella finally gave in and used it at the end. Grr!

Jessica, I agree, it did seem sort of contradictory that Edward was able to have a baby with Bella when he's frozen in time, but I guess he still has sperm.

message 31: by Stacy (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:36AM) (new)

Stacy | 5 comments I really loved breaking dawn I was all smiles when I read the wedding scene and their honeymoon. I got really worried when Bella got pregnant cuz I don't like children but everything worked out well with that. I also loved the scenes when Bella first becomes a vampire and everyone is waiting for her to go psycho loved loved loved it. I agree that I would have liked to see edward being more fatherly towards Nessie. I also kinda don't like her name I think they should have gone with her middle name carlie carlile and charlie that sounds better to me. oh well no biggie. I alos felt like the character of Nessie was lost a few times. I realize that she is growing quickly but I kinda couldn't picture her doing some of the things that stephanie said she was doing. Maybe if she would have compared Nessie standing next to big Jacob so I could maybe get a highth difference in there. It was just hard to picture what the little girl looked like and what she could do as the story progressed cuz she was changing so much. I don't know I think I just needed more about her. I really do love that jacob imprinted on Nessie though that's great. I really loved the scene when Bella was yelling at Jacob. I wish things would have cleared up a bit more with Leah though. It was like once Jacob imprinted and Bella took over the story the rest of the wolf pack was mostly lost. Oh well again most of these things were not that big a deal to me I really did love the book and I really hope that SM brings Nessie and Jacob back in their own little story line. I think she almost sat that up at the end when Bella was suggesting things about the other half human half vampire guy. Hmmm another love triangle? heehee sorry hybrid guy I think Jacob has you beat.
The vultari were pretty darn scarry. I agree with a comment earlier about wanting to know more about Marcus. unless Stephanie told us in new moon and I can't remember. I wish something could have been done about demetri though he is a scary guy to have around, and Bella said herself that He needed to die. I wish some of the vultari could have died too Like Jane or Alec. there bad guys they totally have it coming. ah well maybe if Nessie gets a book Jacob can kick their asses. I do hope if Nessie does get a book that Edward and Bella would be in it to. I mean they are her parents right. Ok Thats it for now. I really loved I think I will go reread it right this second.

oh wait my most favorite scene was when Edward flicks Bellas garter right into Mike Newtons face. Awesome!

message 32: by Lyn (last edited Aug 04, 2008 06:00AM) (new)

Lyn (lhilt) | 4 comments I have a few thoughts.
I am not a Jacob fan, never have been, so keep that in mind.
I loved the opening. The wedding and the heightened anticipation, the honeymoon, the vampire sex, it was awesome. I loved the fact that the two of them were so blissfully happy.
You could tell Bella was pregnant by Stephenie's descriptions of her time on the island... ravishing appetite, exhaustion... what I didn't see coming was how it was going to destroy her from the inside out (although I did realize it wanted blood fairly early on!)
I understand why she wrote Book 2, Jacob, but I was so, so disappointed with Jacob's chapters. I feel like I could have read none of it and still had a firm grasp of the storyline. It was during that book that I read the story the least and lost all desire to turn the pages. I skimmed most of it.
I was *shocked* when Jacob imprinted on the baby. (And by the way--the worst name EVER. Seriously, people? Cute name? It's AWFUL. Carlie would have been much more adorable. Renesme just doesn't roll off the tongue. And Nessie is almost as bad!) Anyway, the reason Meyer wrote about Leah and Jacob's connection is because she was trying to lead us into believing Jacob would imprint on her, which made it even more shocking when he imprinted on the baby!
I was relieved when I started reading Book 3. I absolutely LOVED her descriptions of Bella's new life. It was so interesting to read! I was happy how things ended as well. The fact that the Volturi are still intact gives me reason to hope that ANOTHER book will be written featuring our friends Bella and Edward. I would love to read Midnight Sun and have that come to fruition... I would love to see a story featuring more of the baby. (UGH even though I can't stand the name!!)
Those are my thoughts.

message 33: by Sally (new)

Sally (seraph) Lyn, your opinions of the book are the closest I relate to. I finally finished it last night and here's what I thought:
I LOVED the beginning - the wedding, the honeymoon...it's better than I could have hoped for. I was even enjoying the book when she got back home and was dying and pregnant and so on...and then it turned into Jacob's point of view. I never did get use to the change of voice...I still think the book would have been better if you could just rip out the Jacob chapters. When it flipped back to Bella's point of view, I started enjoying it more, however...Jacob imprinting on Nessie is something I still don't like. It's not even because I don't like Jacob, but man I like him even less now! I DO NOT like how he acted like he had more of a claim on her then Edward and Bella did - they were her parents for crying out loud! When he told Charlie (most) of the truth, I had my fingers crossed that Edward would just rip his throat out already. When it finally got to the drama of the Voultri and all the witnesses, I was hooked again. And yes, I was satisfied with the ending...but it was difficult for me to get there.

With the first 3 books, I could barely put them down- my husband had to literally rip them from my hands...and then after I finished reading them all, I immediately started re-reading them! This book...not so much. It was literally painful for me to read - and not because I was so into it, but because I wasn't. I had to stop myself from skipping to the last chapter and just getting it over with.

So to sum it up, yes, I liked it (after a while), but yes, I was quite disappointed as well.

message 34: by Sasha (new)

Sasha | 1 comments On Isla Esme, the woman who is screaming at Edward is a native of South America (old Indian population there) and so not only speaks Portugese, but also her native indian language. That is the language she was screaming at Edward in about Libishomen - the same story that Huilen tells to the Volturi at the end.

I loved Breaking Dawn. Was not a Jacob fan before this book but completely loved him by the end.

I didn't find it weird that Edward was not gooey gooey over the baby at first. He thinks it is going to kill Bella and Bella is his first and only concern. He starts to love the baby only after he is able to realize that the baby loves Bella, doesn't want to hurt her. That seemed completely in line with Edward's character. I also thought the birthing scene was amazing from start to finish. Reading Jacob and Edward both trying to save her, Rosalie losing her concentration, Jacob thinking Bella is dead - it was an adrenaline rush that entire section. And then Jacob planning to kill the baby. Damn! It was shocking when he imprinted. But awesome.

So many more thoughts but I will have to gather them together more coherently.

message 35: by Colleen (new)

Colleen | 1 comments I read the alien language as being the indigenous language to whatever tribe she belonged to.
All in all, the book was a disappointment. The several times when Meyer used "threw" instead of "through", I want to stop reading right then. The book felt like she was placating the fans rather than writing how it should have been.
I was relatively disappointed.

message 36: by Susanne (new)

Susanne Alexis~
I agree with you (again!)

I really loved Breaking Dawn. I admit that when she got pregnant I was very disappointed. I couldn't believe that was happening, and I didn't understand WHY! But while I was throwing my little literary fit I remembered that Meyer has yet to let me down, so I just went with it . I loved the story she created, and I loved the ending.

Bella's power was expected for me, it just made sense. Oh, and Alice, well I was ready to throttle her myself... but in typical Alice fashion she saved the day!

It really does seem that Bella was meant for the supernatural world. I like her soooo much better as a vampire! LOL!!!!!!!

I forced myself to read slower than normal, and even re-read parts. It was hard, I wanted to burn through the book... but I'm glad I took it slow. I am ready to read the book again, and take it all in from my new perspective.

The only thing I hated was the name Renesmee. I hate that name... sorry. But jeepers, what a mouthful. I like the full name better with her middle name... but I thought it was a little lame.

Love how it worked out with Charlie. My opinions are different in that area because I'm a parent. I'm glad he got to keep a relationship with Bella and Nessie.

And Jacob, sweet Jacob... I'm glad that Stephanie wrote about how much they've put him through, and what a great guy he is. (I already knew that!) I was SHOCKED I admit when he imprinted on the baby. I was still all wrapped up in him keeping her heart beating while Edward 'changed' Bella. What strength and sacrifice... I can't believe he did it! I'm glad that he did, but could any of us do what he was asked to do!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the book was perfect. Well ok, so some of the Volturi could have died... that would have been a bonus!

Danielle (donyelle) i actually didn't really breaking dawn that much. haha i think it's just me, but it wasn't what i imagined, which could be a good thing. in some ways i liked it, but some ways i just couldn't stand it haha.

Alexis (aesquibel25) It happens lol. She couldn't please every one of her fans considering that most had their own version conceived in their head before it was even released :)

message 41: by Marissa (new)

Marissa I really loved it. I still hate Jacob. It drove me crazy reading through his part of the book and then when he imprinted on Renesmee. (By the way I hate that name. It is horrific.) I also hated the fact that Jacob thought that he had more of a claim over the baby than Bella did. I thought he was a huge jerk. He might not be able to help it but he should have known to keep it to himself since it was the first time Bella was truly getting to see and hold her baby. But I loved getting to read about Bella actually becoming a vampire and her life after that. That was what I was most concerned about because after all of the buildup to her becoming a vampire, I would have been extremely disappointed if Meyer had not let us see what her "after" was like. I agree that some of the Voltori could have died, but I was somewhat glad it didn't come to a fight. I didn't want them to have to send the baby away. I was also glad to find out that Renesmee will be able to live for a long time since Bella and Edward love her so much. I thought that Edward did become very fatherly. He wanted to hurt Jacob a little and he was horrified when he figured out that the secret Bella was keeping was that she was sending the baby away. I thought it was clear that both Bella and the baby became his immediate priorities.
Overall, I loved it! I really hope she does the series from Edwards point of view but I don't think she should make any books from Renesmee or Jacobs point of view. It would be a little overkill. Plus, I don't like Jacob so I wouldn't want to read them.

Kymberley Disappointment. That’s the only word to describe Breaking Dawn. There was no necessity in so much of the book. I am happier just thinking that Bella and Edward got married, did the deed, and then finally he turned into a vampire. That’s it, THE END.

I can't wait to hear how Stephenie explains the pregnancy. I haven't studied human sperm much, but in the dog world, in breeding, you want to make sure there is plenty of "fresh" sperm. Meaning the male/stud needs to be kept in practice. So, I'm guessing Renesemee was created with some very old sperm there....Something to wonder about anyway.

I think Breaking Dawn was at least worth it because now I really do like Bella and Jacob so much better than I did before!

Also, I was quite shocked by all the sex in it. I mean she didn't give a whole lot of detail, but still, I thought she gave way too much detail considering how many very young girls are in her audience.

Hey, I just thought, I've heard that women can get pregnant by using sperm that has been frozen, so maybe that is how it works with a vampire! If they are frozen in time, than so is their sperm and that is how it works....ok, I am feeling a bit better about all of it now. Whew.

Alexis (aesquibel25) Lol :)

message 46: by Susanne (new)

Susanne All right you guys... you are so serious about this pregnancy thing... but you don't even question the entire premise of the books. Boy vamp falls in love with a human whose best friend is a shape shifter... ok... but you get all hung up on the logistics of the pregnancy!?!?!?!?! It's a fantasy/paranormal romance book!?!?!?!??!
Met any werewolves or vamps lately!?!?!?!?! Jeepers, I'm trying to understand I really am - but just get over it.

message 47: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Thanks, Sasha, for clearing that up!

The only thing I didn't like about the book was Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. It just feels weird, and I don't like how Jacob was spending more time with her than her own mother could. Her own mother! Also, he seemed to think he had more of a claim on Renesmee than Bella or Edward. Her parents, for crying out loud! You'll get plenty of time to be with your imprint later, when she grows up, but this is her childhood- give it to the parents! Plus it seems a bit creepy for Jacob to kiss the daughter of someone he kissed and had feelings towards. Ergh.

And I'm still really confused on how Edward could have produced sperm when all his body fluid is supposed to turn to venom!!!

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) I didn't get why Bella was freaking out at Jacob? IT WASN"T HIS FAULT! (haha jewels)

Alyssa (pinkflipflops527) | 10 comments i'm so glad they got married! i thought something would end up getting in the way. and i'm happy jacob went to the wedding to make bella happy (even though he almost ruined it!). i'm also glad he imprinted. a very different couple, but it works! i think it would be great if stephenie would come out w/ a book in nessie's point of view.

i think the book could've had a little more action too (especially in the first part of bella's perspective). i was skeptical when i saw part of the book in jacob's perspective, but i found that i actually really liked it. i also wouldn't mind if new moon was written in his point of view...it would've been interesting seeing him fall in love w/ bella

Hyun Jung | 7 comments i liked Breaking Dawn.
i agree with Jessica though that I think I really did have high expectations for it. i dont think meyer got through to making the characters feel more alive. the characters ESPECIALLY edward and bella... i didn't feel were closely connected to the characters in her first three books. they were aloof for the lack of a better word in the last book.

i love meyer's stories but the whole complicated-ness with the pregnancy and how jacob's and bella's love for each other jusst snipped after she became a vampire was not believeable in a book i felt was most real :D.

i hope that Midnight Sun is a lot better and it'd be cool if Meyer's did a book with Renesmee's POV.
