I loved at the end when Bella "switched frequencies" so edward could read her mind. That was so sweet. I still cant beleive that we were so wrong about Bella's power. Though if you think about it, we should have figured it out.
I love Breaking Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm also wondering about the Volturi threat. It's plain that it isn't over... Argh!
Still though, all in all, it was a damn good ending!
I am changing my comment, because after having a day or so to mull things over, I've decided that "Breaking Dawn" was a big dissapointment for me. Maybe my expectations were just too high. It really felt forced and hurried and I think it would have been better if it had been only half as long. The things I did like were Bella and Jacob. I thought their characters were much better in this book. And I am glad that Bella and Edward got married without anything getting in the way and that she did turn into a vampire. I did like the power she had. Even though I am left a bit confused about the whole pregnancy thing (I thought Vampires couldn't have kids??), I am glad that Jacob could finally imprint on someone and that he and Bella could finally have the relationship they were meant to have. All in all, this book was just ok and I liked it fine, but by no means was it amazing or the best book in the series for me.
Oh, also, I agree with you, Lauryn! All those loose ends need to be tied up!

I did think of that too. A sure possibility I would say! Didn't she say somewhere that this was the last book written from Bella's perspective?

Fingers crossed!
**edit**
I'm also kinda hoping for something from Leah. I feel kinda bad that she was just left out. I honestly thought something was going to happen to make her happier in this book, possibly her imprinting on someone.

It's funny...before I read Breaking Dawn, I really really really hated Jacob. Now I like him, as a friend. It's weird how the book changed my view of him. Maybe because he grew up a bit and is nicer, or maybe because looking through his eyes makes me see him differently. I liked how we got to see Jacob's perspective in the middle.
I love Bella being a vampire!! I feel like she was meant to all along. And I'm glad she's able to keep her connection to Charlie!! I think the reason that she doesn't have to go through the newborn stage is because she KNEW she was going to become a vampire, she wanted to, and she was prepared for it. All the others had no idea that they're going to. And that's why she still has the same human mind.
I love the ending, it was so perfect...*sighs dreamy sigh*
There's just one thing that confuses me a bit. It's been bugging me the whole book...how was Bella able to conceive a child from Edward if he has no sperm??????
Also, I didn't really get the whole scene in their honeymoon, after Bella finds out she's pregnant, and the South American woman gets all freaked out and starts shouting at Edward in that different language...what was the "alien language" that they were speaking? And why did the woman say "Morte" while she touched Bella's swollen stomach? I know it means "death," but it doesn't really make sense why she said that...and what was she shouting about, and what was Edward pleading about...? :-/
Oh yeah and one more thing...I heard that Meyer based the Breaking Dawn plot loosely on the plot of Shakespeare's A Mid Summer Night's Dream. I know the Mid Summer Night's Dream plot, but I didn't really see any shadow of that in Breaking Dawn...can someone tell me how??

I havnt read Midsummer nights dream, but i loosly know the plot. Breaking dawn wasnt anything like what i know of the actual play.
The alian languige i think was portugese. I think the lady said Morte because she had guessed about what edward was and what had happened to bella. Im sure she knew the stories about how the mothers died. Thats why she said death. (at least in my opinion.)
Loved the end when Bella let edward into her mind, just for a second even. So sweet.
(Sigh.....)

1.) I loved it that Bella had a baby. I was so surprised!! It very unexpected, and it added a twist to the story, and I just liked that part.
2.) I loved how Jacob and Edward became very good friends in the end
3.) I loved how Jacob imprinted on Renesmee. I was laughing so hard when Bella starts yelling at him. I thought it was very necessary for Jacob to imprint, and I loved how it happens right after he goes looking for someone in the city. I loved how Bella can love Jacob just like they were meant to love each other (as family).
4.) I liked part of the book in Jacob's perspective. We wouldn't really know what happened while Bella was unconscious, or sick, becuase it would be boring just talking about the inside of the Cullen's house, and Edward's depression if it was in Bella's perspective. We got the perfect amount of seeing how Edward reacted to Renesmee killing Bella through Jacob's perspective.
5,) i don't think stephenie should have said anythihng about leah running away with jacob and stuff if she wasn't going to explain anything more about leah. she did say how leah was happy to finally not hear sams thoughts and stuff, but still... that loose end was not REALLY tied up.
6.) I loved how Bella can shield people. Her power was what i expected (shielding) and it's amazing!! I love how she gave Edward a glimpse of her mind in the end
7.) I wish we could have gotten more of a feel of Edward being fatherly. I don't we got that feeling too much.
8.) I didn't like Edward's initial reaction when they realize Bella is pregnant. He says something like "We'll get that thing out of you." I don't think that was Edward-like AT ALL. He would never say that!!! It's his daughter!! He should have been elated and he should have immediately loved his daughter. His reaction just confused me.
9.) Even though Rosalie was helping Bella, I didn't like her attitude. I don't know why she didn't care about Bella dying as long as the baby was ok. Ya, she would be like that, but in Twilight. Not BD. In Eclipse, she started being a little more understanding about Bella when she talked to her about why she thinks Bella should stay human. But in Breaking Dawn, it seemed like that was totally forgotten.
10.) I loved that one part in the middle when it was just talking about Bella's normal life as a vampire (before Alice had the vision that the Volturi were coming). I loved the first hunting trip. I loved how Bella had to much self control. BUT, I think that that part should have been in the end. Everything was tense with Bella's pregnancy, and then it suddenly slows down. And then it starts again with the Volturi. I think we should have known about Bella's life as a vamp as an ending to the series.
11.) I'm so happy Charlie found out!!! I don't think Bella's life would have been happy without him having some kind of explanation, however small it is.
I probably have a lot of other things to say, but I can't think of them at the moment. I was a little bit disappointed with BD. I loved it, but there were things I didn't like, and I thought I was going to like everything. Overall, I loved it, but I can't call it my favorite book of the series. Sorry that this is so long... I'm the first person of my friends that has finished it, and so I can't talk to anybody about it yet.

i mean doesnt he realize that that would hurt bella? it might hurt her feelings mabye??
if he didnt care the least he could do is keep it to himself?
AND how the heck wuld they
"get it out of her" without the baby being born?
oh well.
i still like edward im just surprised.

Hey, I did pay attention and I understand that apparently a human and vampire can have a baby. I just meant that I thought it was pretty understood that even a vampire creating a child was out of the question. Being frozen in time and all, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I am glad that so many of you are so pleased with this book. If it made you happy, that is great. For me, it just wasn't enough and that is that. I don't even know exactly what I was expecting, but whatever it was, wasn't there. I don't hate the book or think that Meyer's is a bad writer, I just don't think it was at all amazing or her best, but it was still good and I did enjoy reading it.

And yeah, I always do that- I re-read Harry Potter seven because the first time I read it, I was speeding through it, same with Breaking Dawn. So I'm going to re-read it, more slowly.
Still a few more things...
1. If the alien language was Portuguese, why did Meyer say "alien language" and not just Portuguese? It's obviously something different then what the lady was speaking before. So what language was it??
2. Does anyone know why Meyer called it Breaking Dawn...? Just curious...
3.Maybe it was referenced to Mid Summer Night's Dream because Jacob and Edward loved Bella (Lycander and Demetrius loved Hestia) and then Jacob loved Renesmee instead (Demetrius was put under a spell to love Helena instead.) But still, it's only part of the Mid Summer plot...
Lynn, I agree, Bella was more herself as a vampire than a human.
Yeah a book about Renesmee, or from her view, would be awesome!! It's just a bit weird that she may be kissing the same person her mother kissed before...I don't like the nickname Nessie. I got mad when Bella finally gave in and used it at the end. Grr!
Jessica, I agree, it did seem sort of contradictory that Edward was able to have a baby with Bella when he's frozen in time, but I guess he still has sperm.

The vultari were pretty darn scarry. I agree with a comment earlier about wanting to know more about Marcus. unless Stephanie told us in new moon and I can't remember. I wish something could have been done about demetri though he is a scary guy to have around, and Bella said herself that He needed to die. I wish some of the vultari could have died too Like Jane or Alec. there bad guys they totally have it coming. ah well maybe if Nessie gets a book Jacob can kick their asses. I do hope if Nessie does get a book that Edward and Bella would be in it to. I mean they are her parents right. Ok Thats it for now. I really loved I think I will go reread it right this second.
oh wait my most favorite scene was when Edward flicks Bellas garter right into Mike Newtons face. Awesome!

I am not a Jacob fan, never have been, so keep that in mind.
I loved the opening. The wedding and the heightened anticipation, the honeymoon, the vampire sex, it was awesome. I loved the fact that the two of them were so blissfully happy.
You could tell Bella was pregnant by Stephenie's descriptions of her time on the island... ravishing appetite, exhaustion... what I didn't see coming was how it was going to destroy her from the inside out (although I did realize it wanted blood fairly early on!)
I understand why she wrote Book 2, Jacob, but I was so, so disappointed with Jacob's chapters. I feel like I could have read none of it and still had a firm grasp of the storyline. It was during that book that I read the story the least and lost all desire to turn the pages. I skimmed most of it.
I was *shocked* when Jacob imprinted on the baby. (And by the way--the worst name EVER. Seriously, people? Cute name? It's AWFUL. Carlie would have been much more adorable. Renesme just doesn't roll off the tongue. And Nessie is almost as bad!) Anyway, the reason Meyer wrote about Leah and Jacob's connection is because she was trying to lead us into believing Jacob would imprint on her, which made it even more shocking when he imprinted on the baby!
I was relieved when I started reading Book 3. I absolutely LOVED her descriptions of Bella's new life. It was so interesting to read! I was happy how things ended as well. The fact that the Volturi are still intact gives me reason to hope that ANOTHER book will be written featuring our friends Bella and Edward. I would love to read Midnight Sun and have that come to fruition... I would love to see a story featuring more of the baby. (UGH even though I can't stand the name!!)
Those are my thoughts.

I LOVED the beginning - the wedding, the honeymoon...it's better than I could have hoped for. I was even enjoying the book when she got back home and was dying and pregnant and so on...and then it turned into Jacob's point of view. I never did get use to the change of voice...I still think the book would have been better if you could just rip out the Jacob chapters. When it flipped back to Bella's point of view, I started enjoying it more, however...Jacob imprinting on Nessie is something I still don't like. It's not even because I don't like Jacob, but man I like him even less now! I DO NOT like how he acted like he had more of a claim on her then Edward and Bella did - they were her parents for crying out loud! When he told Charlie (most) of the truth, I had my fingers crossed that Edward would just rip his throat out already. When it finally got to the drama of the Voultri and all the witnesses, I was hooked again. And yes, I was satisfied with the ending...but it was difficult for me to get there.
With the first 3 books, I could barely put them down- my husband had to literally rip them from my hands...and then after I finished reading them all, I immediately started re-reading them! This book...not so much. It was literally painful for me to read - and not because I was so into it, but because I wasn't. I had to stop myself from skipping to the last chapter and just getting it over with.
So to sum it up, yes, I liked it (after a while), but yes, I was quite disappointed as well.

I loved Breaking Dawn. Was not a Jacob fan before this book but completely loved him by the end.
I didn't find it weird that Edward was not gooey gooey over the baby at first. He thinks it is going to kill Bella and Bella is his first and only concern. He starts to love the baby only after he is able to realize that the baby loves Bella, doesn't want to hurt her. That seemed completely in line with Edward's character. I also thought the birthing scene was amazing from start to finish. Reading Jacob and Edward both trying to save her, Rosalie losing her concentration, Jacob thinking Bella is dead - it was an adrenaline rush that entire section. And then Jacob planning to kill the baby. Damn! It was shocking when he imprinted. But awesome.
So many more thoughts but I will have to gather them together more coherently.

All in all, the book was a disappointment. The several times when Meyer used "threw" instead of "through", I want to stop reading right then. The book felt like she was placating the fans rather than writing how it should have been.
I was relatively disappointed.

I agree with you (again!)
I really loved Breaking Dawn. I admit that when she got pregnant I was very disappointed. I couldn't believe that was happening, and I didn't understand WHY! But while I was throwing my little literary fit I remembered that Meyer has yet to let me down, so I just went with it . I loved the story she created, and I loved the ending.
Bella's power was expected for me, it just made sense. Oh, and Alice, well I was ready to throttle her myself... but in typical Alice fashion she saved the day!
It really does seem that Bella was meant for the supernatural world. I like her soooo much better as a vampire! LOL!!!!!!!
I forced myself to read slower than normal, and even re-read parts. It was hard, I wanted to burn through the book... but I'm glad I took it slow. I am ready to read the book again, and take it all in from my new perspective.
The only thing I hated was the name Renesmee. I hate that name... sorry. But jeepers, what a mouthful. I like the full name better with her middle name... but I thought it was a little lame.
Love how it worked out with Charlie. My opinions are different in that area because I'm a parent. I'm glad he got to keep a relationship with Bella and Nessie.
And Jacob, sweet Jacob... I'm glad that Stephanie wrote about how much they've put him through, and what a great guy he is. (I already knew that!) I was SHOCKED I admit when he imprinted on the baby. I was still all wrapped up in him keeping her heart beating while Edward 'changed' Bella. What strength and sacrifice... I can't believe he did it! I'm glad that he did, but could any of us do what he was asked to do!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the book was perfect. Well ok, so some of the Volturi could have died... that would have been a bonus!

Overall, I loved it! I really hope she does the series from Edwards point of view but I don't think she should make any books from Renesmee or Jacobs point of view. It would be a little overkill. Plus, I don't like Jacob so I wouldn't want to read them.

I can't wait to hear how Stephenie explains the pregnancy. I haven't studied human sperm much, but in the dog world, in breeding, you want to make sure there is plenty of "fresh" sperm. Meaning the male/stud needs to be kept in practice. So, I'm guessing Renesemee was created with some very old sperm there....Something to wonder about anyway.
I think Breaking Dawn was at least worth it because now I really do like Bella and Jacob so much better than I did before!
Also, I was quite shocked by all the sex in it. I mean she didn't give a whole lot of detail, but still, I thought she gave way too much detail considering how many very young girls are in her audience.

Hey, I just thought, I've heard that women can get pregnant by using sperm that has been frozen, so maybe that is how it works with a vampire! If they are frozen in time, than so is their sperm and that is how it works....ok, I am feeling a bit better about all of it now. Whew.

Met any werewolves or vamps lately!?!?!?!?! Jeepers, I'm trying to understand I really am - but just get over it.

The only thing I didn't like about the book was Jacob imprinting on Renesmee. It just feels weird, and I don't like how Jacob was spending more time with her than her own mother could. Her own mother! Also, he seemed to think he had more of a claim on Renesmee than Bella or Edward. Her parents, for crying out loud! You'll get plenty of time to be with your imprint later, when she grows up, but this is her childhood- give it to the parents! Plus it seems a bit creepy for Jacob to kiss the daughter of someone he kissed and had feelings towards. Ergh.
And I'm still really confused on how Edward could have produced sperm when all his body fluid is supposed to turn to venom!!!

i think the book could've had a little more action too (especially in the first part of bella's perspective). i was skeptical when i saw part of the book in jacob's perspective, but i found that i actually really liked it. i also wouldn't mind if new moon was written in his point of view...it would've been interesting seeing him fall in love w/ bella

i agree with Jessica though that I think I really did have high expectations for it. i dont think meyer got through to making the characters feel more alive. the characters ESPECIALLY edward and bella... i didn't feel were closely connected to the characters in her first three books. they were aloof for the lack of a better word in the last book.
i love meyer's stories but the whole complicated-ness with the pregnancy and how jacob's and bella's love for each other jusst snipped after she became a vampire was not believeable in a book i felt was most real :D.
i hope that Midnight Sun is a lot better and it'd be cool if Meyer's did a book with Renesmee's POV.
