As I said, I'm not convinced on that spot. Gus might have the right idea with some Coltrane.

Patience - Gilbert & Sullivan (I listen to this when I write and can't really function without it. Strange, I know.)

If compilations are allowed, I might go with one of the later anthology albums for Willie Nelson. Might also sub in a Hank Williams compilation for Dr. John. I'm not sure if LPs existed in Hank's day. I think those songs were just released as singles...Anyway, I stuck with the original album concept in this list.

eels - daisies of the galaxy

This is an interesting pick, but I see from where you're coming. It's a great record, and possibly the most diverse and underrated eels disc. By the way, they opened with the title track from this disc from when I say the band in October.

The rest of you who don't properly appreciate the eels, carry on, and shame on you.

Nice lists. Especially Exile on Main St, Eels, and Wilco. Others are some I need to listen or relisten. I did this on fb for 25 but this is harder:

radiohead - ok computer
the clash - london calling
Wilco - Summerteeth
John Coletrane - A Love Supreme
Mile Davis - Kind of Blue

I can't decide on a classical piece but would consider replacing Coletrane with a similar sprirtual classical CD.

Something is in my head about not taking an artist's best work with me but their 2nd best. You will appreciate it and then remember the best of the artist. It's like having 2X the music. Mile Davis , or dave brubeck or john coletrane or wilco comes to mind. Kind of Blue will remind me of so many other great CDs not just Mile Davis.

i chose it because it's one of e's most cheerful albums and has a lot of good memories attached to it. it is by far my favorite eels record.
