Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments I'm setting the bar higher than just the 104 and hoping for 120 (that's 2 1/2 books every week, it's possible right?!)
I'm starting the year off with Insatiable by Meg Cabot. I actually started it last night (the 31st) but only got about 40 pages in before the wear of the alcohol got to me and I had to stop reading. This book is near 450 pages so hopefully I will get it read pretty quickly!
Other's for the year I know will be in - The Vampire Academy series, all Meg Cabot books I have not yet read, The Immortals series, books by Sara Gruen, the final for the following 3 series: Fallen: Hush, Hush: Shiver. Let Me In (I already bought it), possible rereading of the entire Harry Potter series before the final movie comes out and then others...well, we'll just have to see.

Mikela 120 books is very doable. Good luck. I looked up Shiver and found 3 of them on Goodreads, all by different authors. Which one of them is everyone referring to?

message 3: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments The series by Maggie Steifvater. It's a YA series.

message 4: by Mikela (new)

Mikela Thanks. I heard it was good.

message 5: by Corrine (new)

Corrine | 47 comments Is that Fallen book coming this year going to be the final in the series?

message 6: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments @Mikela I absolutely loved the first two. Someone is actually borrowing them in a different state so I'm hoping to get them back before the final one comes out!

@Corrine As far as I have heard, yes. I'm following Lauren Kate's blog now to keep up.

message 7: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments Finished my first book! And second! The second was a children's book but still!

message 8: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (racheben) | 74 comments Hi Melissa,
I am a Meg Cabot fan.. but did not like Insatiable. I'll be curious to hear what you think! Have you read her Mediator series? It's great!! :-)

You should tell us which ones they are. I'd love to see what you're reading.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments @Jennifer I though I put that in the original but here it is again:

Insatiable by Meg Cabot

and then my mom had Of Thee I Sing sitting on the table so I read it.

@Rachel I have the Mediator series on this list. I wanted an adult fiction to start off my year instead of a YA fiction. I really enjoyed it. I have my review up under the book on my page.

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments Okay so in order, I've now read (and finished up two today)

2) Of Thee I Sing: A Letter To My Daughters - Barack Obama
3) Evermore - Alyson Noel
4) Blue Moon - Alyson Noel
and
5) Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass (though I only have the first book of those two read, the second will be started tomorrow)Lewis Carroll

Jen | 90 comments What do you think of Alice?

message 13: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments I honestly didn't know if I'd like it since I've seen the Cartoon movie, the 3D movie and the mini-series...but I really enjoyed it!

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments And now I've finished my 6th book...I nearly died...oh my goodness!

6) Shadowland by Alyson Noel

message 15: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments I'm now finished with numbers 7 and 8.

7) Dark Flame by Alyson Noel

and

8) Cursed by Carol Higgins Clark

message 16: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments And now number 9...I read it in 4 hours which is normally NOT possible for me. Number 9 was Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg
I loved every minute of reading this! It's only her second book - and I loved her first just as much!

message 17: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments Number 10 is finished!

10) No and Me by Delphine de Vigan

message 18: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments Number 11 taught me a lot in it's fictional way. I truly enjoyed this book and think everyone should give it a shot:

11) The Other Side of Dark by Sarah Smith

message 19: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments Not like anyone seemingly looks anyway...but

12) The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

message 20: by Mikela (new)

Mikela Your #11 looks interesting. Glad to see you enjoyed it.

message 21: by Amber (new)

Amber (memyshelfandi) | 69 comments 120! You go girl, I believe in you!!! You know audio's count as well and I have The Mortal Instruments in mp3 form if you want them to listen to in the car. Plus I'm sure I can track down most anything else you might want!I have connections :0) And a library card! Hehehe.

And don't worry about people not looking at your list. I post on other peoples lists and get no comments and no one stops by my list ever either. I think it's the name....

Anywho - good luck babe! I know you can do it!

I think the list count is misleading, I read everything in the email ;) I love seeing what everyone has read! It keeps me motivated.

message 23: by Mikela (new)

Mikela I read everyones posts but have only replied with questions/comments about books in common. Glad you mentioned this because being new to any group, it takes time to figure out the proper etiquette and dynamic. I'm still working on it.

message 24: by Mikela (last edited Feb 03, 2011 02:04PM) (new)

Mikela I too like to interact with others in the group and hear different opinions on books, genres and authors. When I'm totally unfamiliar with a particular genre, such as PNR (did I get that right?) I find it best to stay out of the discussion and learn by reading what others have to say. Having our own individual topics made a lot of sense before Goodreads came up with its tracker, but it might help to make people feel more connected if we had a group topic entitled "What I just read and why" or something like that. We could also have "5 star recomendations". Don't mean to be pushy and my feelings won't be hurt if you tell me to just go back to my book. But before I do go back to my book I need to make another observation; a lot of times a book is mentioned in a topic but not linked so in order to check out the book you have to leave the discussion. I find myself often unable to find the correct discussion again. I never claimed to be the brightest bulb in the pack.

Um...I would LOVE Mortal Instruments on MP3 because sometimes I just sit at my computer and don't even listen to music. That would be fab. My #8 book was on CD!

As for me saying "not like anyone seemingly looks anyway" it was just a matter of fact because no one's said much of anything aside from at the beginning where I was asked to repeat what I'd read. It just made me feel like my posting was diminished to nothing since I'm also keeping track on facebook.

message 26: by Amber (new)

Amber (memyshelfandi) | 69 comments Meh, there's a lot of us this time around! And no one looks at mine either. Nothing personal. Sometimes I only have time to read and not post...

Okay I will try to zip the books into a folder and e-mail them. If that doesn't work I will mail them snail mail style.

Last....I have a few PDF file books that you can read on your computer...not really all that great but check my lists on here and look at PDF.

Oh and LAST LAST: I started Let The Right One In yesterday, I'm half way through and it's really really good!!!!

message 27: by Melissa (last edited Feb 04, 2011 04:08PM) (new)

Melissa (rosmelie) | 28 comments OOH! I am starting one called "Stork" very soon...no idea what it's about. But then I have this new Vampire fiction one too. Gah I have so many! Plus I have "I Am Number Four" waiting in my inbox!

*goes to look at your post for PDF*
