I seem to recall Owen making a point of rememberance, as well as Nathaniel Ranew in his work on meditation. Within the past few months, I've heard a couple of sermons on Sermon Audio that address this very issue of self-examination as it applies to lukewarmness. The one that sticks out is by MacArthur. I'll track it down.
