Yes, everyone should pray for those poor people!

I have been having a lot of pain since well last I can remember is Thanksgiving. I would go to the doctor and they kept saying bladder infection. Well, a couple of months ago, I had a pain in the front on my left side that felt like a bruise. I found out I had it when I would touch the place on the side of the sink when doing dishes and it really should not have hurt that much. Well, my doctor decided to do a CAT scan and I found out some reasons I could be having the pain on my left side and the severe lower back pain. The scan showed a cyst on my left kidney, a cyst on my left adreinal gland, and a stone in my right kidney. So, now I'm going to the specialist today and I'm kind of scared and could use all the prayers I could get. Thanks!

message 4: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Oh no, Lorie, that sounds so painful. I hope your meeting goes well and that the specialist can help you. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I went to have a dye test today so they could measure the cyst. I just got home, kind of sore but the cyst are still small and he won't remove them and my stones he's going to let pass on there own. THe adrinal glad cyst is the one they worry about most and I have to get this same test done once a year to make sure it's not getting bigger. If it gets bogger it can cause fatigue and hormone problems, so it was not as bad as I thought but I still have the pain and not many answers as to how to get rid of it and that concerns me. He told me heat pad.
Thanks for all the prayers.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Not sure how much coverage this is getting overseas, but there have been massive riots occurring across the UK over the last few days. Buildings, buses and cars getting set on fire, people being forced from their homes due to senseless violence, shops being looted. The police can barely keep up with it. It completely came out of nowhere, and to be honest, I don't even think the government know what caused all of this. So far it's only hitting the major cities in England, but I do have a lot of family in England and I'm very glad my uncle and aunt moved house last year as they lived in a very rough part of London as it is these areas that are getting hit by the trouble. Can everyone please pray? It's quite a scary situation for everyone to be in over here, we haven't seen riots like this in a long time, possibly not even in my lifetime.

Here's the BBC news page for those interested: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14449675

And just to explain how big this issue is - my office has Sky News on 24/7 and this is the ONLY thing they've been reporting on all weekend. We get the rest of the headlines as scrolling text at the bottom of the screen, but this is being reported on literally every minute of the day. Absolutely insane. Even the recent events in Norway didn't get as much coverage.

Of course I'll add it to my prayers!

I did see something this morning about all the riots. My hubby said that he heard somewhere that England was charging a tax to every person that is unemployed. I don't quite understand that, maybe that could have started some of the rioting if it is true.

I've never heard of that, it really doesn't sound like something that the government would do over here. A lot of the people involved have lost their jobs in the recession and so on, but if you're unemployed you definitely don't pay any tax. I work part-time and even I don't pay tax because I don't earn enough! I know that the riots started in Tottenham, and people are saying it was because a police officer shot someone, then I heard that a teenage girl had been hit by a police officer when they were trying to break up a protest... It's all very confusing. And now everyone who is unhappy with the government, unemployment, high cost of living, etc is joining in as it's become a bit of a free-for-all due to the numbers getting too high for police to cope. It's ridiculous. It's reminding me of the Poll Tax Riots of 1990, people just joining in for the sake of violence.

message 14: by Diane U (new)

Diane U (djuseless) It sounded odd to me when he mentioned it this morning. Maybe he missed some of the news story. See, men don't pay attention to details! LOL!

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Apparently they're now bringing in police from other areas of England, as well as possibly Scotland maybe even the army. They don't want to use European tactics (rubber bullets, water canons etc) unless absolutely necessary, but the government are basically trying to warn rioters right now that if they don't stop, this is going to turn into a situation like the riots in Ireland during the troubles, and do we really want our country like that? Everyone over here is really bemused by the whole situation.

Also, just discovered that the worship leader from my church in St. Andrews is attending a wedding in Ealing tomorrow, where this happened last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJkAo5... I'm praying that his family are still able to enjoy themselves.

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Hopefully this is an isolated incident and other Scots won't jump on the bandwagon...

BBC:
17.56: Strathclyde Police say they have charged a 16-year-old boy with breaching the peace in relation to a message posted on Facebook, which allegedly incited people to commit acts of disorder. The teenager was arrested in Glasgow at lunchtime and is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I have a prayer request. :)

I am very much an exotic animal person and I have 2 White's Tree Frogs, Dwight & Daphne. Over the last week, Dwight has lost a lot of weight and may be getting sick. So if you could remember the cute little guy in your prayers I would appreciate it!

I am very attached to him and Daphne, and they each have their own personalities which I adore. If you want to read more about them you can visit the page about pets on my blog by visiting this link: http://books-camilleelise4.blogspot.c...

Thanks in advance for any prayers you can send his way!

Diane U (djuseless) I need some prayers too!

On Thursday morning, my hubby and I had to put down our 1-1/2 year old black lab Simba that we had for only a year. Simba was a rescue dog and we took him from an abusive household.

On Tuesday evening he stopped eating and was very tired. On Wednesday morning he wasn't any better so we let him stay inside by himself so he could rest up. When we got home at 5, he was hiding behind a chair and could not walk. We discovered later on that he had a stroke. We brought him to the vet and did some blood work and everything was normal, not dehydrate, not anemic, not diabetic, normal kidney function and no toxins in his blood but the lymph nodes in this throat were swollen. So the vet decided to send him home with some strong antibotics. While paying when we left at midnight, he had a seizure. The vet saw him again and thought it might have been dizziness so she gave him some travel medicine to calm the dizziness and sedate him so he could sleep.

When we got home, we all went to bed (he sleeps with us) and he was restless. He was not closing his eyes and was crying very hard and painfully. He was also drooling enoromously. At 2 am, we took him outside to go to the bathroom and he peed but no poop. When he came back in I made him some rice to try to get him to eat. While we were trying to get him to eat, the pooped (solid) and did not even know it. After cleaning it all up, we went back to bed.

At 5 am, he was crying so bad that I decided to take him out again. He could not even stand. We called the vet again and it was a new vet so he review his chart and told us that he thinks he had a stroke and meninjitis. As we were walking to bring him to the truck, he was able to walk once he was up but he was walking into walls because he could not see. When we got to the vet, he picked him up and curled his paws under to see if he would move them back and he did not move all 4 of them back. I guess that meninjitis is a disorder of the brain and spinal column that would affect his whole nervous system. He was beyond help so unfortunately, we had to put him down.

I know we did the right thing. I feel that we got so jipped because we only had one year with him. But if we did not rescue him, he may not have lived as long, or as well, as he did. This totally sucks!! Our house is so lonely without him!

My cat Ziggy has been wonderful. He took a nap with me yesterday (since I had no sleep Wednesday night) and was by my side until bed time when he likes to go outside to party. When he came in this morning, my hubby was holding him and brought him into the bathroom while I was drying my hair. I swear to God, the cat reached out both paws to me as if to say, "Mommy, you need me!" Animals just know!

Please pray for me and my hubby. We have no kids and all our animals are "kids" to us. We will get another dog but not for a little while, we both need time to mourn and heal. We are going to research breeds and pick one together, no surprise Christmas presents. Our house is just so quiet without Simba!

Sorry for the super long post and to make everyone cry! I'm going to pick some winners for It's A Celebration now!!!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Diane and Camille, so sad that you're having pet troubles this week! We've always had cats in my family and they're more than just animals to you, they're really like members of the family, so I totally understand how you're feeling. Will be praying for both of you.

message 29: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Diane my prayers are with you and your husband! I remember when you got Simba and I am so sorry for your loss, it's such a bad ache in the heart. But it's amazing that your cat knew you needed her. You are right, animals just know. Rest assure we are all praying for you!!! I hope your heart can heal, and I know Simba is in a happy place where he is feeling no pain!

message 30: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (atimetolove) | 99 comments Diane,

So sorry about your sweet dog. You know how I feel about dogs...

At least Simba had a good year with you. Imagine if he'd had to die in pain and alone with an abusive home.

What I think is neat is that you may find Simba leads you to another dog you can rescue. My beloved Chi Sarah led me to Gino, the Ital. greyhound who needed us, and then Gino led us to Zoe, my little Chi. All came from the same shelter...

message 31: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I agree with Barbara. I know you are hurting right now, but I fully believe that Simba had an amazing year with you that he wouldn't have had otherwise. He was able to feel true love due to you and your husband opening you hearts to him. Again, my prayers are with you.

Sarah (misscalico) | 128 comments Oh, I'm so sorry, Barbara. I will certainly be praying for you and your family. The Lord will see you through this difficult time!

message 34: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Sadly, I could use a few more prayers. While Dwight seems to be doing better, unfortunately my mother has found out she has big mass on her ovary and it could be cancer. Please pray that things turn out well. She goes in for more tests, but no matter what will probably have to have a hysterectomy. We could use all the prayers in the world right now!

message 35: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Oh no, Camille, what a horrible thing to discover, especially on the holidays. I'll definitely be keeping you and your mom in my prayers! I know that my mum discovered that she had a lump on her breast when she was pregnant with me and couldn't get it removed until she finished breast feeding, but thankfully it wasn't cancerous. Let's pray it's the same for your mom, even if she still has to have an operation, which is still a scary thing to go through.

I'd like some prayers too - I've been feeling really low and depressed this autumn. It tends to happen every year around this time and I think it might be a form of Seasonal Affective Disorder. I finally went to see a doctor about this recently and they made me do blood tests to see if I might be anaemic or have an underactive thyroid. I know I'm not anaemic - I eat a really balanced diet and more red meat than most poor students :P - but the thyroid thing sounds possible. I'm hoping it's not as I don't want to have to take pills for the rest of my life. But I have been feeling awful this week and it's stressing Simon out as he needs to study but I'm crying all over the place. It's not good for either of us. So, pray that this all gets sorted out and we find a way to make me feel happier? Thank you! I'm kind of hoping it's just SAD because then the National Health Service might pay towards me getting some sort of light box/SAD box, and I do think it's linked to the clocks going back and it getting darker at this time of year. That would be a really simple solution.

message 36: by Lisa (new)

Lisa conner (ptl44lmc) | 99 comments i know getting darker soon is hard on me i dont sleep well so makes for along eve. but i will be praying for all these request.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Prayers for you Rachel! I hope that you can get everything figured out quickly and that everything turns out well. Being down is just awful, I can totally relate having been there before.

message 38: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Oh, on a happier note I wanted to let everyone know that your prayers for Dwight have worked! He is gaining weight, and I saw him eat tonight which is the first time I have seen him eat in over a week! I am very glad about that, so thank you all for your thoughts!

message 39: by Lynne (last edited Nov 25, 2011 12:52AM) (new)

Lynne | 27 comments Praying for you Rachel, must be Scottish thing as I'm in a similar place to you moodwise....didn't get to home group either 'cause of it. Chris and the kids hhave taken the brunt of it.
I've got a lightbox and it does help. Don't know about getting help on NHS apart from not payingVAT on it. You can get a decent one for about £80 I think.

message 40: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Camille, so glad about Dwight! One less thing for you to worry about now :)

Lynne, mum said she thinks that the NHS sometimes part-fund buying light boxes if they diagnose you with SAD, and that would be a massive help as £80 is a lot of money for me, that's more than a week's worth of food! But I just seem to keep going for appointments week after week (next week will be week 3) and if we're not getting anywhere with the doctor I may just see if we can dip into our savings and buy one. It gets darker a whole hour earlier in St. Andrews than it does back home as well, so it's only light from about 8am until 4pm every day :/ Will pray for you too!

message 41: by Lynne (new)

Lynne | 27 comments £80 is more than our food too lol!
I think when I bought mine about 6 or 7 years ago it cost about £150 and the same one is now £80 which is a big difference. I needed new bulbs recently but considered its on most days thats good going!
Will look into it for you.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers! God was listening and heard everyone! And I have good news to share!

It looks very unlikely that my mother has cancer! She will have to have a full hysterectomy, but they believe it can be done robotically, which cuts down healing time to about 2 weeks or a little longer, rather than 6-8. Since she was done having children after she had my little brother (who is now 21) it is not devastating for her in that regard. And luckily, the surgery is the day after my last final, so I can drive to California right after my last final and be there in the evening and be there with her and my stepfather and brother through the surgery! She should be almost healed by Christmas! :) A true Christmas miracle, and a blessing!

message 47: by Kim (new)

Kim I know I don't post on here a lot, but I read everything in this prayer thread, but most of the time, I just don't have the words to comfort people (something I need to work on)

Anyway, my ex sister-in-law's brother was in a serious motorcycle accident last night and has been unresponsive since that time. Both of his lungs collasped as well, and as yet, they've only managed to fix one of them. He is in seriously bad shape, and they weren't even sure if he would make it through the night last night, but praise God, he did. My ex sister-in-law and I are not even on speaking terms, but I know she loves her brother so, so much, and I just pray he makes it through healthy and whole again. Please pray for him (and her.)

I am happy to report God's goodness again. My mother's surgery was only 1 hour long and she came through great! No complications at all! She is home and doing so well!! She was even up for watching the classic movie, Holiday Inn, together! :) He is so good for watching over her!
