When I asked this question I realized it was really very broad. I mean, I hate to find squashed flies in books. Did once. But I also hate to find a story that promises me something at the beginning and then never gives that something to me. If it promises me a thrilling adventure, I want that all the way to the end. If it promises me a hilarious character who will keep me in stitches, I want that.

So when I asked my question, this was the kind of answer I hoped for. Please don't tell me about squashed flies. :-)

Freddie Remza | 3 comments So I won't mention flies...how about a p&j sandwich? Just kidding! Personally, dialogue is important to me. I want it to sound like real people talking. However, I find that too much slang and too much &$%** language gets in the way of the storyline. I know some people don't mind it, but as a reader, I do. I want the story to flow. I like details when they are needed but I don't need to be told how lilacs smell because I know. So there you have it! Freddie Remza

Great answers, Freddie. And you're right, unnecessary details are annoying. I think I have to do some editing!

Oh, I meant to say that I've never thought what it would be like to find p&j sandwiches in a book. Some nights that would be very convenient though. :-0

Freddie Remza | 3 comments You know, we've all experienced it...you're reading a fascinating book but you find yourself hungry and there is absolutely no food in the house EXCEPT for good ole p&j. And the best is if you have some very soft bread and a cold glass of milk. So now you start to read and eat and the phone rings. Ya guessed it. Somehow the p&j gets smooshed into the book. That's better than finding it under the bed...unless, of course, it's my book. Just kidding...acting a little silly here because it's 72 degrees and I'm hallucinating.

Glad you're hallucinating here with me. This has been a crazy few months, so I'm really able to identify with any weirdness. Gotta go get me some p&j, the maybe some bread. :-)
