So we're putting together a list of books--and will vote on them beginning April 20.

We're thinking 2 titles a month would be good. One fiction, one nonfiction? One Eastern, one Western? (Pamela's history expertise is the Middle East). One older book (a classic, a primary texts from an earlier moment), one newer book?

Send all suggestions! There is a lot of wisdom and experience here...and many of you have probably been part of Goodreads book groups before.

What works? What doesn't?

Jessica (crazylilcuban) I really like the idea of doing one fiction and one nonfiction.

I think if we do something like that (like maybe starting in June), then it would be easiest to have people vote on two polls -- one for each category. Some of the other groups I'm in do a similar set-up with two books; they have a thread where people can put nominations for both categories, and then take the 5-10 or so from that thread that seem to have the most interest and create two polls for people to vote on.

Agreed! We have plenty of both fiction and non-fiction titles to choose from on our bookshelves.
