☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 133 comments I believe it premiered on the 17th. Has anyone seen it? I don't have HBO; anyone have a lead on where I could find it online?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Torrent sites?

It was very good, but I haven't read the books yet, so I can't compare the two. Very well made, it looks like a lot of money went into it.

Timmysparks | 122 comments The premiere was really good! It got me very interested in reading the books. There's a wide range of characters and the story line seems very broad. It looks very promising.

Hey, gals, please don't link to illegal downloads or streaming sites in this group. :) It's probably safer to discuss ways to, er, acquire GoT through private messages, just in case someone gets tetchy and decides to report the thread or the group. Timipre, can you edit the link out of your post? Thanks!

☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 133 comments Sorry, didn't mean to cause trouble!

Please PM me with links, folks :)

message 6: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Souza (passionateaboutbooks) I have really liked the show so far. I will have to see how it goes.

Sarah Remy (sarahremy) | 17 comments I've only seen the first episode, but it was enjoyable enough to start me on a series reread.

message 8: by Audrey (new)

Audrey Cook Kolbek (audreykol) I am wanting to watch it very bad, but I also do not have HBO. Wish is was on another channel! It looks really good.

message 9: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Bair-Epps | 725 comments I've just finished the first book and was surprised how accurate the show is to the book. I'm really enjoying it.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished watching the 3rd episode, it is so good :) I think the episodes should be longer :P

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Remy (sarahremy) | 17 comments Arrgh! I'm biting my fingernails because I don't have HBO and I can't decide whether I want to subscribe or not. Which is exactly what I said when I was trying to keep up with The Sopranos and then Dexter and then Then Tudors and then True Blood.

Huh. Looks like maybe I'd better subscribe.

message 12: by Timmysparks (new)

Timmysparks | 122 comments OMG! I loved the 3rd ep of GOT. I really hate the Lannisters. I can't believe Bran won't walk again. I hope there's a way to fix that. And I'm really loving Dany and Kahl Drogo. Their relationship has really changed so much! I never want the episodes to end. I'm reading the books once I finish with my exams.

message 13: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 330 comments I'm uber glad someone decided to start a thread about this show! Totally loving it and Kahl Drogo is totally yum with his savageness! Liking the world and cannot wait for the battles to begin!

message 14: by Heather (new)

Heather | 6 comments I am also in love with the show! I loved ep. 3 when Daenary's brother got taken down a notch :)

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree, but I do like Tyrion Lannister he has changed since the first episode and he seems to really care about Eddard Starks' son (the bastard)I think his name is Jon Snow.

I love Dany and Kahl Drogo's relationship, he actually seems to love her now :)

Timmysparks | 122 comments Heather wrote: "I am also in love with the show! I loved ep. 3 when Daenary's brother got taken down a notch :)"

I loved when that happened. Viserys is so pompous and arrongant. He forgets that his sister is now a queen and he isn't a king yet. I can't wait to see what happens next.

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Remy (sarahremy) | 17 comments Tyrion is a great character, even better in the books. Viserys always makes me want to scrub all over in bleach.

message 18: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 330 comments Viserys is a total jerk, particularly seeing him in the fourth episode. Love Daenary and how she is growing into her own womanhood and her role as Kahlisi. Cannot wait to see what happens to Tyrion! I also hope Prince Joffrey gets the wind knocked out of him again although Sensa is a brat as well, particularly to her father. Really loving this show!

message 19: by Timmysparks (new)

Timmysparks | 122 comments I loved how Dany stood you to Viserys and threatened him. He forgets that she's now queen. *stupid brat* I was so anxious about the end. I don't know what will happen with Tyrion. I'm also so proud of Arya. She going to become her own woman not what others want her to be. She's my fave character in the show.

message 20: by NanaV (new)

NanaV (nanavamp) It keeps getting better and better!!! I need to read the books....Sean Bean is the sexiest "weathered" looking man!! He's always been a favorite of mine, even when he played very bad men in his other movies.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I completely agree, i really do need to get the books the spisodes do just keep getting better and better!!!

message 22: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleylaura87) | 162 comments I have read the first book and all I can say is be prepared! There is SO much coming that will rock you all!

message 23: by ☽ Rhiannon ✭ (new)

☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 133 comments I can't get into the Khal. I guess things are better now, but any guy that "has sex" with a woman who is crying because SHE DOESN'T WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH HIM is a jerk in my book. I've been meaning to read these books for a while and I'll have to get on that. I'm enjoying the series so far, for sure, but there seems scant romance to me.

Fani *loves angst* (fanip) This was a little different on the book; in their first time at least, Dani was willing and far from crying. He even asks her permission to go on before he goes on to consummate the marriage and after he has kissed her and touched her and aroused her. I don't know why they chose to show it under a different light in the show, but the fact that he did ask made me like him very much.

message 25: by Davina (last edited May 11, 2011 07:51AM) (new)

Davina D. | 103 comments The concept behind the show is interesting, but at the moment it's kind of dragging for me.

The show is very dialogue heavy -- often consisting of people sitting in a room talking (giving the audience info they need to know). This isn't very dramatic (and not the best format for film making imo) and can cause the show to be a bit boring, but I can see where it has promise. It consists of only 10 episodes so its building slowly and will no doubt reach a fevered pitch.

In the meantime, Khal Drogo & Danyeres's relationship keeps me coming back week after week. Drogo is one fine a$$ barbarian! LOL His "rape" of Dany didn't really bother me (I chose to suspend belief), but it does make me feel better to know that he didn't force her in the books so thx for that info, Fani!

Movies/TV shows will change the dynamic of a "book" relationship to enhance the dramatic effect on TV/Film. I didn't see where this was necessary in Thrones since Drogo and Danyeres are clearly starting to fall in love with each other after only 3 (he didn't appear in the 4th) episodes. So they might as well had followed the book on this aspect as well.

Anyway, I love them together and hope to see more of them (and for longer). I hope they last for as long as the show is on. Somehow, though, I feel this is just wishful thinking on my part. Friends who've read the books said GRRM has no qualms about killing off characters who the audience will develop an attachment to. I have a very strong feeling Drogo (and or Ned and or Tryion - all my faves) is going to be killed off in battle or something like that.

By the way, if you've read the books and know what's going to happen please don't correct me if I'm wrong -- I don't want to be spoiled! :)

message 26: by ☽ Rhiannon ✭ (new)

☽ Rhiannon ✭ Mistwalker ☾ (pnr_list) | 133 comments He is great-looking, so thank you Fani for the info on the book! I've got to get on reading those, clearly. I just can't help but shudder at the notion of cruelty/force is hot or passionate or something. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the alpha thing in a lot of ways, but not at the expense of... oh nevermind, I could go on and on about this. I gotta stop worrying about what young girls are picking up from that kind of message and just watch the prettiness. ;)

message 27: by Timmysparks (new)

Timmysparks | 122 comments I was very heartbroken over episode 9. I couldn't he killed my beloved... I mean, COME ON!!! I keep waiting for him to come back to life in some miracle but i guess that's not going to happen :( I'm so pissed right now. I hope someone I don't like dies soon. Maybe I'll be consoled a little.

Miguel Conner | 18 comments I think Sean Bean always puts in his contract the he will die at the end of a movie or series. The Boromir Syndrome.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know she is trying to save Nedd and she does love Geoffery so she's trying!

message 30: by Davina (new)

Davina D. | 103 comments Yeah I was pretty upset by the end of episode 9. I couldnt believe what I was seeing even though I was kind of expecting it because friends of mine had spoiled me about GRRMs tendency to kill off beloved characters. I have a feeling that my second favorite character is also about to die. It sucks but at least the series is starting to get interesting.

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, when killed off first major character so suddenly i was like 'what!!' then he killed off major character two which i mean most people were expecting, but with major character three i was so sad, i loved him so much! I can't believe they killed him off, things are going to kick off in episode 10!

Jessica | 72 comments What's funny though is how people on other message boards were raging about how their sick of HBO and their "shock tv". Lol, it wasn't HBO, I mean technically (view spoiler) has been dead for 15 years...

One guy, after he found out that they had died in the book, when so far as to say HBO should have changed it.

message 35: by Davina (new)

Davina D. | 103 comments Man, Drogo had better not be next!

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh god yeah, i know but i reckon because they took the baby into the tent, Drogo may not be happy when he realises his wife, killed his horse and then maybe may have lost the baby :S

message 37: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) That and she did the forbidden blood magic thing that the Dothraki were freaking out over...I don't see a happy ending for her. =/ I would read ahead and find out..but I kinda like the torture of waiting to watch it first!

Well, that's if he lives long enough to get mad. :/

message 40: by Timmysparks (new)

Timmysparks | 122 comments OMG!!! What a finale!!! Danny!!! OMG! I'm starting the books once I finish with the book i'm reading now.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Right watching the finale tonight so will be able to actually be able to see what happens so excited :)

message 42: by Davina (new)

Davina D. | 103 comments I'm extremely disappointed (view spoiler). Having said that I can appreciate why it had to happen. In some ways I'm glad the show runs more parallel to real life (life is messay and many --most?-- times it's the good people who perish while evil prevails), but it was still hard to deal with. (view spoiler)

All in all, though, I'm still loving the show in spite of all this. Dany is great! Can't wait to see what journey she'll be taken on, and I'm looking forward to seeing Joffery get his comeuppance. What an ass he turned out to be although I always knew there was something evil about the little bastard.

This show was slow to build, but it has reached a pinnacle that I always suspected it would. There's much to look forward to and I can't wait. Too bad we have to suffer a whole year before it's back on the air! Urghhh...

message 43: by Violette (new)

Violette Dubrinsky | 8 comments Awesome show! Wonderful acting! I cannot wait for Season 2. Dany is my favorite character at the moment but I suspect Season 2 will bring more.

message 44: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleylaura87) | 162 comments I can't wait to read book 2! That is on my summer book list for sure!

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) Pretty good. I haven't seen the newest season yet, but hopefully I will soon.

message 46: by S.B. (new)

S.B. Roozenboom | 27 comments I was never able to successfully get it online but I somehow got it on my IPad for 1 month free (yes, this was legal I went through HBO Go or something).

I have to say I never watch TV much and can't stand most of what's on now days but that being said... I LOVE Game of Thrones, even as it is the most violent, unfiltered show I've ever seen. I am so so so excited for the new season!!
