southpaw285 We have decided to do a "mini" reading challenge for the month of May. The challenge will begin on May 1, 2011 and end May 31, 2011. You can sign up any time, but books must be read in the month of May. You can post your list in advance, or post as you go. You can make changes to your list at any time. You may disregard "a", "an", "the", etc.

Here are the details:

Using the word "May", read a book with a title corresponding to the letters. There will be three levels of participation.

Level One: Read a book from the The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Ultimate Reading List, with a title beginning with "M","A", or "Y". Total books to read = 1.

Level Two: Read two books - One book from from the
The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Ultimate Reading List, and one book of your choice. Book two does not have to be from the list. Total books to read = 2.

Level Three: (1) Read three books from the The Complete Idiot's Guide to the Ultimate Reading List; or (2) read a combination - 2 books from the list and 1 book of your choice, or 2 books of your choice and 1 book from the list. Total of books to read = 3.

It looks like this:

Level One:
M
A
Y = You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister (from the list)

Level Two:
M = Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (not on list)
A =
Y = You Slay MeKatie MacAlister (from the list)

Level Three:
M = Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (not on list)
A = About a Boy by Nick Hornby (not on list)
Y = You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister (from the list)

If you have any questions, you can post them in the "Challenges" thread.

Most of all, we want you to have fun!

Happy reading!

Martha | 1 comments A challenge! What a great idea :) I'm going to use this as an excuse to read a couple books from authors I've been meaning to read yet somehow haven't gotten around to yet. Level Two is most likely, but if I'm not too busy with my own writing/editing I'll go for all three.

M: The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
A: A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking
(if I have time)
Y: Years of Wonder by Geraldine Brooks

southpaw285 Way to go, Roseann. I just started my first one last night, lol.

message 18: by Gini (new)

Gini | 30 comments I am going to try for three, though I have my doubts about my success:

M- Middlesex
A- As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto
Y- Yeah, I Said It

Two longish ones, so I am a bit worried about finishing, since they aren't the only books I'm reading this month!

message 19: by Diane (new)

Diane (geek36) | 2 comments You're Y book (Yeah, I Said It) should be a quick read. It's written in short vignettes, so goes quickly.

I figured that would be the case - in fact, I'm depending on it!!

Well I finally finished the challenge... I must say, I picked some rather bad books for this month (this could be why it took me so long). Hopefully, my June Challenge choices will be better.

message 25: by southpaw285 (new)

southpaw285 Way to go, Nicole

message 26: by Roseann (new)

Roseann | 5 comments I finally received my copy of the final book from the library a couple of days ago and finished my challenge with:
