It was kind of a stream-of-consciousness style of writing, with an occasional twist that surprised me. I find the idea of making Hades sympathetic intriguing...
I read this book in 5 hours, litterally could.not.put.it.down!
I really enjoyed reading it,because I kind of like mythology books they are intresting..
I've always loved Meg's writing style and if you like the greek trend then I think it's a good book to read. I don't go around singing it's praises, but it's a nice book to read if you want something that's in the current trend but also by a very, very good author! :-)
i felt like this book had a lot of potential, but the writing was not up to a standard that one could appreciate. I think your better off just not reading it. To be honest. :)
Meg Cabot rocks. This seemed to be a little different than some of her other books, but I still liked it.
loved it best series ever!! can't wait for the third and final book to come out..
I'm half way through this book and its driving me nuts. Why in gods name does it take so long to get to any kind of point! It dragggggggs on forever. I really like the story line so far BUT i hate the style of writing, someone else needs to re-write this book. The sentences are as long as paragraphs! Its just a complete mess. Its confusing, annoying and irritating!
I have read it and I thought that it was alright. It was a kind of a jumble of flash backs and coming back to the present day. I found it slightly confusing. But, if you like that saught of thing then this book is for you. :)
I'm reading it at the moment, and its a mess.
Nothings happened, the flash backs (and order of the book) makes it hard to read and (i guess) John and Pierce will dramatically fall in love after the few times they've met.
As a reader, i want something i can feel through the words... All i feel is confusion.
I don't know, maybe i'm being too harsh or critical or whatever. But i suppose the confusion keeps me occupied! :)

The book it's ok. The sad part is that it is the only book where I have hated the main character (Pierce) since the beginning. In my point of view, she is not a good daughter, even worse she thinks her father is a bad person just because he has money and spend most of his time working. Honestly, I love John's character, but Pierce I just can't deal with.
Compared to Meg's other books, i wont call it a great series. But, it was a nice read nonetheless.
Love Hayden. Pierce, she was ok.

Its alright I suppose. The author could've incorporated the Persephone myth a lot more, and it doesn't reveal a lot about John and the Underworld. I find the romance a little cheesy, but that might just be my own taste in books.
Meg Cabot did a good job on tying in the Greek story of Hades & Persephone to her plot. So if you are interested in Greek mythology you might enjoy this book. A bit slow in places and the "Hades" character is a bit boring to be in that position. It was captivating in that it kept shifting from present to past to keep you hanging.
It was okay but I would wait til it came out in mass market. Hopefully, book 2 will be more fast moving and less choppy.
It was okay. I liked the story but it was a little slow.
I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it was a bit slow and dealed with a lot of heavy subjects, but there was such depth in the characters and the story. The only thing I'm hoping for in book 2 is a bit more fantasy and action.
It was okay - though I did get sick of the repetitiveness. Do an e-book or wait until mass market.
Gilbert&Gomez

I liked this book, but I also like Meg Cabot and her writing style. I thought her take on the story of Persephone was interesting.
If you like greek and roman mythology you'll probably really like it. Its an interesting twist on the the Pesephone story but I found it more interesting as it deals with "Pierce" (as a shadow of Persephone). The original myths are really more about Persephone's mother and her struggle and determination to free her daughter from Hades.
It was amazing!
I loved this book. I read it at the same time as
by Lauren DeStefano. They are fairly different, but they both focus on 2 very similar topics, love and escape with/from the one you love. This book was awesome. As is expected, from the talented, and lovely, Meg Cabbot. The portrayal of Hades was... intruiging. I always thought of the Harpies as his helpers, so that was interesting as well. I really liked it. When it ended I was shocked, and wanted more. don't rad it until the next one comes out, or u'll count the days and go crazy until you get it.

This book was an enigma. In the beginning the book was a very hard read. I was more interested in John, then the story itself. I didn't like how the book keep alluding to an interesting past but only giving you bites and pieces. But at the end I was interested. I will be reading book two. You know for John's sake.
i thought this book was good the story's a little slow but i still like it.
i cant wait till the snd one comes out but i still cant believe you have to wait till next year

Loved it! But that's just one person's opinion. You can't really take other people's opinion for something you never read because you may have a different taste in books than other people. So,try it for yourself.
The writing style was a little off for me. I loved the start of the book, but there wasn't any time to explain anything that happened after that. She touched on a few key points through the book and then I felt abruptly came to an ending. I wish she would have added details and paced herself.
I will be reading the next book though. :D

I liked this book, although I have to say Meg Cabot's writing style takes some getting used to. I love the Persephone/Hades story.
I thought it was subpar concerning Meg Cabot and all of her previous novels. However I did enjoy the romantic angle. I'm hoping the sequel will persuade me to continue reading this series.
It was okay but predictable.
I did enjoy the twist on the myth, though.
Get it cheap or borrow it from the library.
