Lisa (lisarosenbergsachs) | 66 comments Have we decided to read this one? It's not what I would normally choose to read, but if you're all reading it, I'll try to find a copy.

On the poll, it was tied with a bunch of other books for third place. So I randomly picked it. Besides, this was one of Oprah's Favorite things last year and she said it was really good. It's more about the history and art of hip-hop than an autobiography.

Jackie (jkylvs2read) | 2 comments I just finished this last night! It was good. Jessica, you're right, it's about the history of hip hop. Even if you don't like hip hop, it's a good read, it's about persevereance and rising above. I think he's brilliant... He would have made it out of the projects one way or another.

Jackie, does it have a lot of language in it? That was my only worry about reading it. I don't like books that are f-bomb this and f-bomb that. It gets old really fast.

Jackie (jkylvs2read) | 2 comments Also, FYI, he and Oprah were wary of eachother, until they met. She opposes to such language and the use of the "n" word. He writes about it in his book.
