Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Jodie over at the Christian Fiction Devourers group started a similar post a few weeks back and Barbara Ann suggested that we do something like this in our group to find out where all of our members come from.

Post your country and state (or region if you're not from the US) and we can keep a tally of all the different places that we're from!

I'll start - I'm from Scotland, which is part of the United Kingdom!

Countries:
1. United Kingdom (Scotland)
2. United States
3. Australia (Queensland)

US States:
1. Virginia
2. Kentucky
3. Florida
4. South Carolina
5. Mississippi
6. Ohio - 2
7. West Virginia
8. Massachusetts
9. Wisconsin
10. Pennsylvania
11. Maryland - 2
12. Arizona - 2
13. California
14. North Carolina
15. Michigan

I'll keep updating as everyone posts their locations!

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Okay, this has already updated my knowledge of US geography - until now, I didn't realise that there was Virginia AND West Virginia. This is the downside to studying pre-1860 US history, I miss out on learning about a few states, LOL.

So far we have no doubles - keep the locations coming!

My sister lives in PA. She knows I love Amish Fiction & got me a signed copy of Beverly Lewis' book last year for my birthday. When I visit her, we go to the big market they have on Tuesday's &, last visit, she took me to the towns Beverly mentions in her books. Loved it!! She even made me stand in front of the "Intercourse" sign. Still LOL over that one!!!!

I found it totally amazing how that sign can make little kids out of grown women! I was with 4 friends, all over 65, and all the ladies giggled.

Carolyn E | 239 comments I have spent a lot of time in Intercourse and Bird-In-Hand in Pennsylvania. I used to go there every chance I got and stayed at the Best Western motel in Intercourse where I could just watch the people and enjoy the sound of horses clopping down the road even late into the night. Living as the Amish do is not easy, but it certainly has its rewards.

I can't believe all the members of this group live in only 2 countries and only 12 states in one of the countries.

Any members out there in any of these states... Tennessee, Delaware, Arkansas, or North Carolina, or maybe these countries... New Zealand, Australia, or Canada?

message 29: by Kristy (new)

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments I posted before but my state hasn't been added yet. I'm from California, so that makes it 13 states.

I think our "blanket" has a tear in it -- who in our group felt the earthquake that started here in Richmond, VA on Tuesday?

message 39: by Carolyn E (new)

Carolyn E | 239 comments Barbara Ann: I felt it here in Hagerstown, Maryland, and couldn't believe it. I really thought I was imagining things. I was certainly relieved to find out that there really was an earthquake, although even the little bit that we felt here in Hagerstown was pretty scary.

message 40: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I'm in Ohio and felt it slightly! I was sitting in my computer chair and it felt like my chair was bouncing up and down a bit!

It was felt here in MA although I personally did not. I was going down the stairs and I tend to go down them with a little spring in my step so I had no clue it even happened. Others at work did feel it though.

We felt it here in the far eastern part of KY, but I personally did not feel it. It did some damage to a courthouse about 2 hours from me.

Barbara (goodreadscombarbara_beers) | 1819 comments Mod
We've had some new folks join our group... where do you live? Do we have more states to include in our "blanket"?

Maybe we should have called it a quilt instead of a blanket!?

message 47: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Barbara, I love the idea of calling it a quilt! Does anyone object?

message 48: by Camille (new)

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments I LOVE that idea! :) Very much in the spirit of the Amish. :)

If we count where you're living now, we're up to 15 states (16 if you count a member we lost) here in the US, 2 states in Australia, 1 province in Canada, and 1 country in Europe! There are 4 U.S. and 1 Australian states with 2 members, but Arizona takes the lead with 3 members.

Who else is out there to add a patch to our quilt?

message 50: by Lynne (new)

Lynne | 27 comments I'm in Scotland too.
