message 1: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Okay, things are freaking me out lately.

I have noticed that I can predict certain things right before they happen, usually in books. But not always just in books, and not nessicarily right before they happen.

Sometimes it's to the point where it's eerie. So I'm wondering, does this level of eeriness happen to you?

For instance, today as my teacher was reading off answers to the quiz he was saying things like "b as in boy" "g as in girl" and when the answer was h, I thought "h as in hat" which was IMMEDIATELY followed by him saying "h as in hat"
Now of all words, why hat? why not horse? or hippo? Or even hydorgen? (he's a science teacher) why hat? and why did I think the phrase right before he said it?

Also, a year or two ago, when we were reading A Christmas Carol (that was the one with scrooge, right?), just before or just as the ghost of christmas future showed up, I thought, "scrooge will see himself dead"

This sort of thing has happened more than once in brigid's stories.(I WILL GIVE EXAMPLES FOLLOWING THIS!!!) I mean, in reborn, I knew there was another reason behind ismene and zephers excluding chats, and I knew what the reason was, from the beginning.

and then in shades just now (end of chapter 6), what caleb's mom said...just before she said it, i knew what she was going to say.

oh, let's find another example. i would use knowing what my friend is going to do, but that has more to do with knowing her too well. oh, I can't think of any specifics right now. but I have had some really eerie predictions.

Have you guys had eerie predictions before?

YES!! That always happens to me in books!! Like, if I'm reading a mystery story, I'll always be like, "OMG!! WHAT IF THIS PERSON DID IT?" A second before that person is revealed as the culprit! And then whenever I read books, I always think things are about to happen right before they do!!

And it happens in real life, too...Sometimes I think people are going to do or say things before they do them. It's so weird...

message 3: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) happens to me literally all the time. people think it has something to do with psychicness or whatever. haha, funny. but it happens for me in dreams too. as in, once i had a dream that this person got kidnapped right off madison street, and then two weeks later BAM they're gone. at which point i freaked out. and sometimes i kind of can tell what people are thinking by their actions etc. it scares me, and i dont think i want to know anymore. but anyway, i like being intuitive like that....

errrrm. or maybe my stories are just really predictable. lol. XD
but i know what you mean. that happens to me sometimes too. like sometimes i'll be listening to the radio, and all of a sudden i like KNOW what song is going to play next and it starts playing. it's so weird. XD lol

oh yeah! I think that may have happened to me before!

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes that's happened to me! on occasion though, but always in books. Sometimes, if the writing gives too many clues, I can see right through it, and already know how it will end.

message 7: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
yeah. i think i do that in my writing; i give too much away. lol.

message 8: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) I always solve the CSI's once I see all the suspects, and sometimes before that. Sometimes I'll write stories about things, and then a few days later I'll find it out on the news!

message 9: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) But here's my theory on those sort of things: It's just our instinct kicking in! Like how some people's elbows hurt before it rains and such, it's all our instincts! Or how you can feel something's not right with your friend and then find out that they just went through some sort of ordeal.

OMG!! About the show CSI, it was sooo weird, but there was this one really complicated and confusing episode where the victim was killed by her own son, but the son only did it because his mother told him to do it. And then before she died, the mother did a set up thing, so it would look like her ex-husband killed her, because she wanted to get revenge on him. So, the first time we go and see the son, who is crying at his mother's dead site, strangely I knew it was him, even though he seemed to cute and innocent. And then, a little bit later, I suddenly knew that the mother's death had been "suicide"- that she had asked her son to kill him. It was SO weird.

whooooa. i am really confused. XD lol

message 12: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) CSI can be kinda creepy sometimes. Like that one episode about the 'devil child', who killed her parents after a priest did an excorsism, and then at the end the priest threw her off a stair landing! And then they arrested him, but he kept saying, "I saved her."

message 13: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I saw that one a few days ago! It was really weird....

message 15: by Nathan (new)

Nathan | 291 comments he probably said hat because hat is so much more common than hydrogen! also u probably thought it right before he said it because...... well........

actully, he is the science teacher! ask him why! lol

yeah, CSI can be sooo creepy and scary!! Me and my friend were watching it, and we were all huddled in blankets and we had to keep the door to the room open and the lights on, coz we were sooo scared. XD

message 17: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Has anyone else noticed that they always leave the lights off at the crime scene?

message 18: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
what do you mean?

message 19: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Like, someone will be murdered at a hotel room, and inside the room, even when they're not looking for blood, the lights are off. And even the place they work at is dark.

message 20: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
well yeah, i guess they do that for suspense/drama.

message 21: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) yeah, I guess, but it WOULD be easier to find evidence if they left the lights on.

message 22: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
lol, true. XD

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
well, REAL forenzics guys probably aren't idiots, and they do work in the light.

message 24: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) lol!
I also think that on CSI they show too much of their personal lives. I like Law & Order a bit more. CSI Miami just gets on my nerves.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

The only CSI Miami I saw was on youtube, becuz I was searching Peter Pan/Jeremy Sumpter, and he just happened to be in one, so I watched that part where he was in it. GOSH he's so freaking hot.

message 26: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) but the red-head one is ANNOYING!!!

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

i've only seen it once in my entire life, so who's da red head?

message 28: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) He's the supervisor.

I had a weird "predictions" moment today!! yeah ... so I'm sitting in science class, and someone asked how much time we had left, and someone else answers "we've only got four minutes". so then i think in my head " ... to save the world!" (u know, like the song?) and then the kid next to me was like, "... to save the world!"
whoooaaaa. freaky. XD

message 30: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) lol

lol.

actually, four minutes reminds me of four seconds...before we get run over by my brother's car. (looong story with some major inside jokiness.)

message 39: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) and she's hanging out with a kid half her age. Justin Timberlake

But she looks good for 50.

I listened to the song and had to play the video because it was the only one, but it was in the background, and I was on goodreads instead of looking at a bare madonna.
