I think the points that stood out the most to me in the book were the smaller scenes like when the creepy kid who killed animals was attacked near his fridge, the image of Pennywise on the ice and the creepy leper under the porch.

(view spoiler)[The opening with Georgie really gets me. I can't quite put into words why that's so, but it's one of the scenes that's always stuck with me.

I'm also really struck by Bill's recollection of Stan contemplating cutting his wrists when they were blood bonding. It's great foreshadowing (postshadowing?) as well as a great bit of characterization. I think it creates a lot of empathy for Stan where there might not otherwise be as much. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ The part with the suicide definitely stands out to me, although it's been a long time since I read this and I sometimes mix up scenes from the book & movie. I *think* that happened in the book. Also, where the boy loses his boat... shiver.... (hide spoiler)]

I'm reading It for the first time in 12 years and I'm loving it all over again. Several scenes have stuck with me through the years:

The image of Pennywise in the drain right before he kills Georgie. *shudder*

The house on Neibolt Street. That entire scene is terrifying.

Pennywise under the bridge dragging Adrian Mellon and biting him in the armpit. I can see all the balloons floating. Very creepy scene.

Child Bev in her bathroom hearing voices and blood spraying everywhere. Ugh.

I'm also rereading IT and just wanted to comment that I got to the point where Ritchie uses sneezing powder on the werewolf/clown. . . And I stRted sneezing like crazy!!!LOL! I had Jo idea how suggestible I am, but second time through, this book is really intense!

I think the armpit scene is one of the creepiest in the book by far. I keep picturing him looking up and the weird smile

My favorite aspect of IT was

(view spoiler)[Richie Tozier's ALL DEAD ROCK AND ROLL SHOW. Richie Tozier is also one of my favorite King characters (along with the young Danny Torrance, Leland Gaunt, Stu Redman, Lisey Landon and Eddie Dean)The idea of keeping childhood alive to help you get through the trials of adulthood was a central theme of the book. And, of course, the TV movie obliterated the character of Richie and his radio show. (hide spoiler)]

I agree Squire! Most of them are among my favourites too.

When the Losers take the blood oath after emerging from the sewers is my favourite part. It isn’t long, but it’s the bit that bound both the 1958 and 1985 segments of the book together, and it was a beautiful moment for the Losers Club as it is the last time they are all together.
