WLSM HERO CHALLENGE

Reading Time Frame – 6 months – September 1st – February 28th

For this challenge read one or more books for each of the following types of Hero. You set the pace/time and the amount of books of each type of hero you wish to read. Kudos if you can match them all to Susan Mallery heroes! Have fun!

Easy 1 - 2 books for every types of hero.
Moderate 3 - 4 books for every type of hero.
Difficult 5+ books for every type of hero.

1. *Bad Boy Hero: The Bad Boy hero is in a league of his own. More heroes and readers/viewers have fallen for the Bad Boy than any other hero. He is the ultimate rebel: mysterious, seemingly indifferent, and hard to get. He starts behaving badly and unrepentant. His inner good is revealed however by the end of the novel due to actions of the heroine or circumstances that force the Bad Boy to become the knight in shining armor.

2. *Alpha Hero: Oh the Alpha Hero… how we love to hate and adore him. The innate leader in any situation, all look up to him and want to be him. He is cool, confident, steady, strong, and sure. His ultimate role, I have noticed, is to take care of the heroine.

3. *Brooding Hero: Our poor tortured lonely Brooding Hero, how we love to torment him! Aloof, angry, wounded, and ultimately one of the most vulnerable heroes out there, the Brooding Hero has captured the most hearts in very recent history with Angel and Edward Cullen. (The Brooding Hero is a perfect foil for the Paranormal Hero.)

4. *Rogue Hero: The Rogue, who by any other period outside of Regency, is a promiscuous cad in need of a physical. Utterly charming, completely dashing, and carelessly carefree about life and love, the Rogue is ready to live life to the fullest. Commitment is not a word in his vocabulary until the heroine sweeps into his sphere of influence.

5. *Nerd Hero: Another name for the Nerd Hero is the Beta Hero. He is kind, sweet, and decent. He is the best friend or the slightly awkward gentleman. The Nerd Hero usually meets his full potential because of the heroine. He rises to the occasion… in many ways!

6. *Tycoon Hero: This hero type literally litters Harlequin presents. He can be a millionaire, billionaire, prince, sheik, or wealthy boss. Ninety percent of the time the Tycoon starts out isolated and jaded in the novel only to wind up happy and easygoing by the end.

7. *Protector Hero: The Protector Hero comes in many disguises and professions, most are obvious, but some not so much. You can find him playing the role of a cop, firefighter, spy, detective, bodyguard, part of the military, etc. The plot behind many Protector Hero stories involves a mystery where he almost loses the heroine while trying to save her.

8. *Daredevil Hero: Pirates and superheroes compose the majority of the Daredevil Heroes. They love action, they love fights, and they love thrills. Give them a damsel in distress and they are all over that like white on rice.

9. *Warrior Hero: The Warrior Hero, funnily enough is a very reluctant hero. He thinks himself above it all. His mission in life is to fight and protect his home, his country, and his men. Then a woman is thrown into the mix all kinds of chaos and havoc ensure and he fights it every step of the way only to be conquered by the heroine.

10. *Paranormal Hero: Oh yes, the Paranormal Hero, when a normal man just won’t cut it the Paranormal Hero steps in prepared to win hearts and steal our very souls. He oozes sex with his otherworldly good looks and quickens our imagination with images of the extraordinary. Call him a vampire, a wizard, a lycanthrope, or any other kind of superhuman being… it is all the same to him.

*(Hero types borrowed from http://www.loveromancepassion.com/the...)

Be sure to stop by the RIME (Reading is my escape) group and join in on their Heroine Challenge! They both start September 1st!

Glad it's working now!
Have you read the novella in The Guy Next Door (Includes Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, #0.5; Donovan Brothers Brewery, #0.5) by Lori Foster it's a prequel sort of for Eric and Beth's book Real Men Will (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #3) by Victoria Dahl . If it's anything like her tumble creek series, it will be good!

message 31: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Oh, no I haven't read that. I'll see if I can find it. I wasn'treal fond of the Tumble Creek series but it may have been mood when I read them. lol I really like VD's writing style though, so it was probably more my mood than anything else.

I have to figure out where to put Christina Dodd's series into my list though.

~Melissa~ WLSM HERO CHALLENGE

Reading Time Frame – September 2011 – February 2011
Level 2 - 30 -40 books

40/40completed!!!!

1. Crave J R Ward completed 9/4/11 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
2. The Iron King Julie Kagawa completed 9/7/11 ♥ ♥ ♥
3. Lover Unbound J R Ward completed 10/1/11 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
4. Kiss of Midnight Lara Adrian completed 10/3/11 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

2. *Alpha Hero: Oh the Alpha Hero… how we love to hate and adore him. The innate leader in any situation, all look up to him and want to be him. He is cool, confident, steady, strong, and sure. His ultimate role, I have noticed, is to take care of the heroine.
1. On the Edge Ilona Andrews completed 9/28/11 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

3. The Darkest Surrender Gena Showalter 11/26/11 4/5♥

2. Fifty Shades of Grey E L James 11/10/11 4/5♥
3. Lover Mine J R Ward 12/10/11 5/5♥
4.Raphael D B Reynolds 2/9/12 5/5♥

1. Passion Unleashed - Larissa Ione completed 9/14/11 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

4. Sizzling Susan Mallery 11/5/11 5/5♥
