Michael Thomas (starcrusader) THE IDEA
I know it is hard out there for new authors for getting their books reviewed. It would be helpful if this forum could be improved with a review section where we could post titles for people to review. In lieu of this I propose we offer to review fiction books in exchange for doing the same for us. All we ask is for a free, fair and impartial review of any of our books below once we have read and reviewed yours

Post up a link to your book and I or anybody else on this list will review it within the week (we need time to download, read and review it!). Please reply with which book you will read/review in exchange in this thread. This way we can swap reviews and help get authors coverage for their books.

To get this started I will personally offer to read and review titles offered in this thread in exchange for my books being reviewed as listed below:

-------------------------------------------

If you want to read or view any of my books please go here:

http://www.amazon.com/Michael-G.-Thom...

The titles listed below are the books that I am currently reviewing or have already reviewed. As you can see the list is expanding at quite a rate. This system is working and plenty of other authors are using it to get their new titles read and reviewed by quality writers.

Janet Carpenter (jancarpenter55) | 9 comments What a fabulous idea! I need a few days to work this out, but I'd love to review books as well and help get new authors started (as I am also new to the field)! I'll reply back to this probably by Saturday. Thanks

Michael Thomas (starcrusader) No problem. I'm thinking of changing the format slightly so that I will add books people offer in the first message so it is easier to find one to read. Should give people the coverage they need for their new books.

So far, by doing the same on Kindle forums I've reviewed 14 books and received 5 reviews.

Janet Carpenter (jancarpenter55) | 9 comments Wonderful! I hope everyone gets involved in this... It couldn't hurt and would help so many. Thanks for sharing this, Michael.

Noor Jahangir | 21 comments Great idea. Is it free copies? I'm into fantasy and star-warsy sf. It would also help if authors kind of gave a high-concept pitch on their books to help us choose which ones we want to review. Take mine for example:

The Changeling King (Crossover Fantasy): When four teenagers disapeer at a country lake, everyone believes its a tragic accident; except Adam, the only survivor. Now he's being hunted by mythical monsters. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Changeling-K...

Janet Carpenter (jancarpenter55) | 9 comments Hi Noor!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm unable to read your book at the moment. My lovely computer crashed and burned, so it's in the process of being resurrected by my dearest friends, PC Work Shop! As soon as it is up and running again, I will get right to finishing the book.

So, sorry about that. Just our luck, huh? Thanks for understanding!

Yours,
Jan C.

Julie (jataylor) | 10 comments I think this is a great idea, although the thread may get unwieldy.. possibly. I've committed to a couple other reviews right now, but I'd definitely like to participate and will be ready to pick up another review in a couple weeks.

I guess this is kind of a "match" site; if my novel appeals to you and your work appeals to me, we should cross-review. (that's not to say we need to write the same way, the same genre...there are novels and authors I adore reading but my writing style is different)

My novel is Earth Bound. Here's the blurb:

Matt Granger was once a star journalist until his career imploded five years ago and he was relegated to newsmen’s purgatory - cruising the countryside writing tabloid fodder for the masses. But for Matt and his team, one of these stories is about to become very real.

Now Matt would learn what it means to be taken. Now Matt would discover that there really is a truth out there, one that nobody had ever suspected.

His team wasn’t the first and that begged the question: why had no one else returned with this truth before?

Time is Matt’s enemy and he needs answers, especially for what he really wants to know: Can he survive?

No problem Janet.

Mark Oetjens (MarkOetjens) | 7 comments Hi everyone. I was just wondering about ebooks vs. print books? I can't afford to send out print books. But I can easy generate a coupon for a free copy of my book The Staff of Rahgorra in any ebook format from Smashwords.com. And Noor (or anyone else), if you're into Star-Warsy sf, my book is perfect for you. Just let me know and I'll review yours.

The Staff of Rahgorra

Another time, another galaxy. The mysterious crime lord Thrull has aspirations beyond controlling the underworld in a single corner of the galaxy. Thrull wants to bring the galaxy under one rule and build a legitimate Galactic Empire. For years he has been training an army of his followers and building his own private Armada. But he knows he must also find the Staff of Rahgorra, a weapon of mythic power.

To keep Thrull from finding the Staff the Galactic Security Bureau, peacekeepers of the galaxy, has pressed back into service a banished agent. Chameleon Del Rey was expelled from the GSB for avenging the death of a friend and for practicing the forbidden art of Jai Kin. Now he must train a young apprentice to use Jai Kin and find the Staff of Rahgorra before Thrull does in order to avoid a war that will stretch across the galaxy.

Hi Julie,

I'd like to review Earth Bound. Are you offering a free copy?

Lynn Swayze (lynnswayze) | 2 comments What a great idea! I don't have a book to offer (yet), but I can offer my book review blog, where you can submit your book for review via the form on the page : www.genrebookreviews.com.

I love seeing authors who DON'T view authorship and publishing as a zero sum game. :)
