It's time to nominate our October book

While this is the second book in a series, it's different characters than the first, so may escape the "second book" rule. (I haven't read the first, but will be reading this one.)
Camera Obscura:
CAN'T FIND A RATIONAL EXPLANATION TO A MYSTERY? CALL IN THE QUIET COUNCIL. The mysterious and glamorous Lady De Winter is one of their most valuable agents. A despicable murder inside a locked and bolted room on the Rue Morgue in Paris is just the start. This whirlwind adventure will take Milady to the highest and lowest parts of that great city - and cause her to question the very nature of reality itself

I second this nomination

I already know one group that is reading it now, and another going to read the book I think in the next month or so.

Also, he's an indie who is a member here on goodreads as well. Might be able to bring him in for discussion as well.

Also, he's an indie who is a member here on goodr..."
Are you sure you've got the name of the book and author right? I can't find either one on Goodreads.

Yes, it would be nice if we read something that isn't being read by other groups or hasn't been read recently.

Camera Obscura:
I second this. I'm reading the first book and the author's got a knack for this writing thing.

Also, he's an indie who is a member..."
Yeah, I seem to have butchered his name. Not sure how the search in goodreads works, but the title should have worked. Maybe it needed the apostrophe in the God's? In any case, I went and pulled it from my "to read" list. Here's the direct link in goodreads:

I wholeheartedly second the Kinshield Legacy. Its sequel is already on my TBR pile.

Plus, he's a member on GR.

Deryni Rising by Katherine Kurtz. Its the first in series I've loved since they were first written forever ago ...

The Black God's War A Stand-Alone Novel and The Kinshield Legacy

I vote for A Clash of Kings too...i am reading it now for the second time and is great

But the group has read #1 A Game of Thrones, so it qualifies. I do agree though, that other groups are reading it so it would be nice to read something different.

Plus didn't everyone do a re-read when the new one came out? I did. Can't go thru that torture again, lol!

Agree with you 100%.

But before the series came out, I tried to get people to read it, no one would care to.

But if this get support I'll gladly second Empire in Black and Gold.

Those of you who have nominated more than one, pick one!

Those of you who have nominated more than one, pick one!"
Guess that gets filed under 'things forgotten'!
Previous nomination deleted.
I nominate
Empire in Black and Gold

Just pointing out that Clash of Kings is not outside of the nomination parameters, since this group has previously read the first book in the series (according to the group bookshelf). As for whether we should read something less popular, that's up to you guys. Although I've never understood knee-jerk compulsion to reject anything popular in the mainstream - why the indignation when something beloved and underrated finally garners the attention and acclaim it deserves? Most of the time, the Public has crap taste, so I personally celebrate these rare moments of clarity and good taste :)
I've actually already read this book lol, just thought that those who haven't shouldn't miss out.

Sorry, as it was last time, no books that are only available in ebook format, unless there's a MMP hidden away somewhere?
